I wouldn't quantify it, but for me, masa adoption means that it's everywhere. Every main website like amazon and such take crypto and even physical locations and stores. When that happens, I think it is mainstream. The next level would be that older folk start using it to (you can use facebook as an example)

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Bitcoin is already the most popular cryptocurrency but it will take a lot of time before ordinary people start using it. However, people are becoming slowly more and more aware of current financial system flaws. It's a matter of time before Bitcoin or some other cryptocurrency will be used by everyone in our daily lives. It is possible in the next 20 years.

I think bitcoin will be mainstream if it can be used by online merchants and traditional business as well. It also need to  solve its major drawbacks like high fees and slower trabsaction rate. It needs also to stabilize its price for it to be usable by merchants. Its volatility discourage merchants to use it. I see massive growth for bitcoin this coming years if it can sustain its security adoptability by masses. With this current price range then it it not advisable to use it in small transactions. You will nit buy in a grocery and lay for like 4000 satoshi for a chip and drinks. It need to adjust for the masses and be usable by the public. Bitcoin is being integrated into large companies now, it just need to be business friendly I think for it to be widely usable.

I think bitcoin is the mainstream now by just simply looking how its market value skyrocketed to 6K USD from almost nothing since it was created by Satoshi Nakamoto.
I also think the impact of bitcoin's absence if bitcoin is going to shut down now. With that void left by its absence, we can say how important bitcoin is in the crypto world and that what made this digital coin the mainstream currency.
The first bitcoin must be owned by the majority of people in the world and transaction costs and time need to be reduced, only then bitcoin will become part of the mainstream, If you want bitcoin to be in the mainstream it will definitely require a lot of publicity and popularity from the overall users either company or individual.

For the Bitcoin to become a mainstream, it first be adopted by many people. It must also gain some popularity from all over the world. It must have its own endorsements on the television or on the billboards. It must also be broadcast and features on the different shows on TV.

For me, bitcoin/cryptocurrency is already mainstream. There are big media platforms that can be accessed for information. Though not everyone has already been as convinced with the whole concept of it but there are people who has understood it and already mined and invested and are actually trading or using it to purchase online. It is not just Bitcoin that is available. One of the best is Ether. For Ethereum, I will always suggest for them to check the website itself which is www.propthereum.io

Arguable, I would say that Bitcoin is far, far from the shadows at this point. It may never be used by the everyday man on the street. It will continue to grow however from this point.

It's all about perspective then, for me bitcoin is already mainstream. When ever bitcoin rise a lot, or drop media's cover that. When some big exchange goes down media's cover that. A lot of people know about bitcoin now, recently I saw a documentary about bitcoins on one national televisions in my country. You can find not some you tube videos, you can find many many videos about bitcoin, how to earn it or trade with it, and many other things. Bitcoin is the most known, but I think others will be very known in the future also, that is inevitable.

People are thrived to see bitcoin used everywhere and becoming mainstream. But I would rather ask another question - what will happen when we will have more bitcoin users.
I am not talking about price shifts, gains etc. I am talking about network problems we experience.
People are foolish to believe that on-chain transactions would be forever enough to accumulate for rising number of bitcoin users.
Bitcoin going mainstream = huge problems with congested BTC network ahead.

When transaction fees go down so that it can be used on a daily basis as a means of payment. Until then, I think bitcoin will remain to be a relatively obscure investment method.

We have heard the term 'mainstream' every now and then in connection with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency for that matter. It has been a very good topic in this forum and even in social media. Apparently, Bitcoin has not yet been considered to have passed the mainstream status all because only a certain percentage of the population have heard about it and got into it...even with the continuing coverage of the mainstream media and some famous personalities also getting into Bitcoin and even endorsing its adoption.

Now, am wondering, when can we say that Bitcoin is already part of the mainstream? Should we require a billion people to be holders of the coin? Or maybe the value of Bitcoin to have surpassed that of Facebook or Google? Or would it be the whole of your neighborhood already have some Bitcoin in their wallet app?

Please share the kind of scenario you think must happen before we can say that Bitcoin is now part and parcel of the mainstream population...

This is quite unique question, as the "mainstream" word is a relative based on so many factors. But for me, bitcoin can be called as mainstream if bitcoin :
1. Price is so high that people notice it. Now it is already high enough in my opinion for people to recognize.
2. Big country accept bitcoin.
3. Can be used as a legal payment system.
4. Has an easy way to make a transaction, fast, and affordable.
5. Has a great security to secure people investment.
In my opinion, bitcoin is mainstream already, but ist not globally yet.

Bitcoin is a real mainstream. This tendency develop beneath our very eyes. BTC remains strong and enormously influential even with all its forks and uncertainty in the market. Price is high. I suppose it wouldn’t fall quickly.

I can assure you whete i live i don't have the whole neighborhood owning any bitcoin or heard of it. Last time i wore my bitcoin mining shirt i had two guys ask me if the government had lifted the ban on coal mining. They got all excited but when i advise it was electronic mining they got even more confused. Now we are starting to see bitcoin in the news  due to surge.

In order for bitcoin to be mainstream it has to be widely used in the whole world, which means that most people should be able to use bitcoin in their everyday life that means that more businesses or services should accept bitcoin as a mode of payment.

Bitcoin will be in the mainstream if it can be used for everything. For now most bitcoin owners are seeing the coin as an investment and wants to have a piece of it for future use. I think we could consider bitcoin as mainstream in Japan and South Korea since even their government is supporting the use of bitcoin as a currency in their country.

I see that bitcoin is already mainstream, but in separate public groups...and I don't think that everyone will be interested in it, because you need to have enough knowledge to understand and use it

In order for bitcoin to become the so-called mainstream, it is necessary to introduce it into the masses, which is a rather difficult process. The older generation, not familiar with the Internet, will not be able to get used to such a thing as crypto currency.
