If so, how did it happen?

There must be millions of phone wallets downloaded but you rarely if ever hear of security problems, other than direct physical access of course, so what are the known cases?

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Its definitely way harder to hack phone wallets, especially with the apps from appstores all being vetted beforehand. If it does happen, they are usually removed quickly. Especially true for IOS.

The only time it happened was due to the "r" value reuse in Android wallet[1]. This exact same issue has happened to Blockchain.info, in a separate instance. Absolutely no issue if you didn't reuse address.

In fact there aren't too much reports about hacked mobile wallets. I think the majority of all BTC owners dont have big amounts on their hot wallets.
This leads to a low potential amount an attacker could steal. In addition to that mobile wallets usually dont have more security issues than standard desktop wallets.
And its a lot easier to get malware spread around windows user with new exploits poping up every day than to spread it through the app store.
An attacker (who is looking to profit) is probably going for the (slightly) easier and (obviously) more profitable way, targeting desktop user.

Most cases are caused by users who root their phones and try to download random cracked apps from outside the app store. If you do that, the chances to download a android rat are big. Otherwise, it's very difficult to sneak a infected app in the app store without being detected, since they are periodically tested.

And even if they can break through the play store security, there is not much they can do if you are not rooted and don't give the app root permissions. So it's fairly simple to avoid malwares.

Most wallets are hacked due to people installing cracked apps, rooting or jailbreaking since the security of the phone is compromised and opening all doors.

Check this out. Had read this a last month.

This is why I don't really tend up to root my phone. You would really able to use the phone on its full potential since its being rooted but the risk would really be there which it can really weaken phones security and its more prone to be compromised specially if you are an user which do fan of downloading things. As most people are saying here Phone wallet hacks is lesser compared on pc itself. The fact that on just listing it on playstore or any other legit download places will already filter them for any possible malwares or they are already infected and removed them.

more wallets are hacked due to they have to installing more and more unwanted apps for that reason more phones wallets are hacked.this is really shame. why people hacking to others personals i don't understand. generally more people try to learning hacking and implementing on all softwares. so they have to get in ti hacked. but for this reason now new software coming it can giving more security for the mobiles. so lets see what happens in the future.
