Coinbase is relatively easy to use for me. I started with that and will recommend newbies to try that out. User-friendly.

Hi all,

Ive been investing small amounts in Bitcoin and ethereum for a year or so now but i wanted to ask what is the best or easiest way for a newbie to buy the currency now. I have a coinbase account so im able to purchase quickly if need be but so many buy sites make it very difficult for newbies to make such purchases in quick time. What is there out there thats on board and safe for anyone wanting to join the market quickly and start investing in such currencies?

Kind Regards

Griff

responding to you on Dec 9, 2017, the best answer is DONT! Look at how much the price has advanced in so little time. caveat emptor Wink

bu for when things simmer down, and to answer your question in good faith, it depends on where you live. Assuming you live in the States, Coinbase is your best option hands down from a risk standpoint. They are insured, are practically in the bed with banks so account integration is smooth, and they are fast as the average stock trading platform (3-5 business days, and the gold standard of business transactions). Kraken is pretty decent as well, with a lot of the above advantages, but a less user friendly interface. followed by localbitcoins. easy to use, but very easy to get scammed if you dont know what to look for Wink

Basically, look for a major lic. exchange. upon failing that, localbitcoins or bust. everything after that is dodgy.

Maybe for all newbies, maybe you should learn more about bitcoin and ethereum, you  can also read about bitcoin and ethereum , so that you have an idea about it, but if you want to buy some ethereum or bitcoin, maybe you should ask for help on someone that already knows how to do it.

If you buy it in coinbase, you have found the right place. Never buy bitcoin or ethereum to a new website or that has a bad reputation. You will lose your investment and certainly your time.

I think it's Etherium, bcz less money is needed to buy it. If you mess up or lose your wallet, you won't will be thinking about killing yourself. BTC is a big game with big prices.

LocalBitcoins is also one of the easiest ways to buy bitcoin and other altcoins such as Ethereum, or you can also use Xapo but mind you; the fees are high for me but it is very reliable.

I always point people new to crypto to Coinbase. Easy to use and figure out. Let's you get a taste of how everything works and watching the market with something of your own actually invested. Start with BTC or ETH on there and research/learn about things from there. Look into other exchanges and coins. Coinbase has high fees from what I've heard. Still worth it for a simple process and security for most new people though.

As much as possible, stay away from Ethereum and go for Bitcoin instead because the process is simpler plus the transactions happen every now and then that can guarantee your profit.

Since I've been using both for a while now, please stay away from Ethereum because their process is more complicated. In Bitcoin, as long as you have the coinbase, you are good to go.

I buy both eth and btc from time to time and I've used numerous services for that aim. So far I stick to https://cryptonex.org platform.
There you can pay with your Visa or MasterCard in any currency; exchange for USD or EUR is made at your bank rate.
I like that it's very easy and safe to make purchases there and the fees are not that high, you know.

You have to an account on an exchange. Using an exchange based in your own country is most convenient as it saves time to transfer and withdraw money.

Both coins are good. But if i will choose one, i will go witj bitcoin. I choose bitcoin because everything in this cryptocurrency world starts in bitcoin. Every people here were hooked up about bitcoin. Most of use entered here with small amount of knowlege about bitcoin. Thats the reason most of us preferred bitcoin. Bitcoin as of now is most well known coin here in cryptocurrency. But it is always depend on what you choose. Everybody's opinion was very helpful so make a research first.

CEX.IO lets you use your credit card to purchase crypto. They charge like 3 per cent or something, but their prices are a tad high.

Well for me to say, I would recommend to a newbie like you between those crypto currencies whether Bitcoin or Ethereum, you better choose Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a much easier to use currency than to the other for me. But I am not saying that you stay away from Ethereum. Thy are both good currencies but it just happen that I preferred much Bitcoin.

You have a coinbase account !! so, you can buy Bitcoin and Ethereum easily. For the newbie he can use the exchanges but he must be careful because he don't have experience for that and he don't fall victim to scammers.
My advice for newbie is : the best source for learn  is your experience.

For a complete Newbie I'd have to say stick with Coinbase, when any of my friends ask about buying them I point them in that direction. It's an easy entry point and the app is pretty easy to get up and running, once they'er familiar you can then look into other options like LocalBitcoins/Coinfloor
