Ok this is strange:

When I have load on the card (poclbm) and I try to open Catalyst Control Center or GPU-Z to check the temps, the computer locks up hard. When there's no load, I can open CCC or GPU-Z no problem. Poclbm alone doesn't cause problems, the computer is mining happily at 650+ mhash (-f 140).

Anyone run into this?

Using latest versions of everything (Catalyst 11.6, etc) on Vista x64.

Not being able to check the temps is a tad annoying.

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

what about if you load up GPU-Z first and then try guiminer?

Try -v -w256 -f60 (whats the point of having f higher than 60?)

How many watt power supply? (assuming no OC going on?)

The flags you recommended did not make a difference.

If GPU-Z is running when I start guiminer then there's a lockup. It doesn't matter what comes first, CCC/GPU-Z or poclbm, but they can't seem to coexist.

Also, just like this guy here:

...the computer also hangs immediately when I start to play a video (say, youtube).

No OC whatsoever. PSU is 1500 watts, and the 6990's 12v inputs are hooked up to separate PSU ports. I can load the CPU with a benchmark while mining and there are no issues, so it's most likely not a wattage problem.
