There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin-Qt, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I personally don't use blockchain.info's wallet, but I'm pretty sure they give you access to your private keys. So technically you have access to your bitcoin gold. Try importing your private keys on a wallet that already supports bitcoinGold, probably Coinomi. Try this out: https://medium.com/@coinomi/collecting-your-free-bitcoin-gold-btg-coins-da937d4255d1

I don't think they've made an official statement regarding Bitcoin Gold, but since you can access your private key through their service it's really easy to claim your BTG.
Simply export your private key from their website, download a Bitcoin Gold wallet and import it there.

After you do that you might want to use a different wallet for your Bitcoin for security reasons.
