A few thoughts for ya before you jump on the next altcoin:

  • It would be trivial to post source code without the trojan, but yet put it into the binaries.  (.exe, etc).  Most people do not bother to compile I wager.
  • A trojan of this type would not be recognized by virus checkers.  All it needs to do is read your .coinX.conf to get rpcuser and rpcpassword, then issue call sendtoaddress via RPC API
  • If an author doesn't care about his rep, he could even post the source with trojan.  Most people do not do a diff, so by the time people started discovering it, he has already made bank and abandoned the forum account

to my knowledge this hasn't happened yet, but it seems very likely.  From looking at the diff, i can see just how easy it is to create an altcoin.

If I were a blackhat and was going to do this, I would have it check every possible directory for coin config files, which would even include bitcoin and litecoin and all alt-coins past/future.

So be careful folks.

usually when source code posted, I feel secured. I never using client without the source code posted. Also always check the download client with a virus detector. This one seems fine, my Norton did not say anything.

Psst!!  Wanna make bitcoin unstoppable? Why the Only Real Way to Buy Bitcoins Is on the Streets. Avoid banks and centralized exchanges.   Buy/Sell coins locally.  Meet other bitcoiners and develop your network.   Try localbitcoins.com or find or start a buttonwood / satoshi square in your area.  Pass it on!

1hr and 20 minutes later.... I got paid... 2.8 ALFs
Oh F... and I just found a block. (500 ALFs for the pool)
I knew it was going to happen.

don't worry, this morning I mined 2 mins, see no update, and left. later I saw I was credited 34 ALFs. I think that 2.8 ALFs could be the first few shares you get from the block you joined in the end, next payout should be bigger.

yes, that is good practice and should defeat it.  Too bad encrypted wallets are not the default.

I just don't see this coin going anywhere.  What does it have going for it besides being "new" and how long will that last?

Hydro, you trashed every single one alt coin. What's your favorite one now? DGC? apparently you hate gldcoin, lol Grin

there's no instamining, the block time is on par thanks to the accelerated diff targeting. You can't prevent people with big hash power to get more, in a fair way.

As I told you, no one is forcing you to mine this coin, if you don't like it, so be it. Trashing every single alt coin does not help you, only making you a joker here.

Pretty sure you launched coin number 4 for the day, so, you don't actually think you'll be taken seriously, do you? What are you people not understanding here? Doesn't matter if your coin is actually good, at this time, it will be perceived as a joke.

why I am not serious? You think being a joker is fun right? going around all altcoin threads and bash them, and attack cryptsy too, have fun joker? Stupid! people are laughing at you! and I am wondering your IQ is ... maybe 70 if my guess is not too high?

Being a joker is tolerable, being stupid is not a fun anymore.

Sorry for the delay was asleep.

All those blocks have now been paid out. What happens is sometimes mmcfe misses paying out for some blocks (I need to rewrite the code) - I have a custom script in place that catches any blocks that were missed. The catcher script waits until 500 confirms just so it is clearly separated from the main cron script and there are never double payouts.

But, all blocks are being paid out - just some later than others.

For those wondering why payouts are low when they join the pool it is because of PPLNS. Payments ramp up and can take some time (a few hours) to come up to your full share per block. The PPLNS system is spread across 10000 shares.
