Anyway, currently mining is good for zcash and ethereum.

Ethereum= rx 570/580 cards
Zcash= nvidia gtx 1060/1070/1080 cards.

Make some research on prices, profitability and decide for yourself.

This depends on what algorithm, on ethhash  hash/price ratio it is but for other algorithm nah

You also should consider the resale value.  For AMD it has always been and always will be lower.
