So So sick of Seeing People complaining about their accounts being Hacked,Stolen,Banned on here. People Obvioulsly can't read from previous posts that these accounts will NEVER Reinstated or given back. (With the Exceptions of a few)

Stop Whining about your shitty account being hacked...No matter what you do or how many E-Mails you send you Won't get them back. Next time stay off the BS Porn sites and stop opening those Fucking Blatent E-mails just begging you to be hacked.

Stop Begging to get your Shitty banned Accounts back....You fucked up and now you have to deal with it.

The Admins here(2) Don't give a rats ass about your complaints or problems. You will not get them back. Please stop begging.

Pathetic!

My impression is, that the numbers of threads about hacked accounts are going down, since the new security feature has been implemented.
There are nearly only threads from buyers/hackers, who changed emails and got "their" new accounts blocked by owners.

It's annoying but probably not as annoying as it is for those who can't get access back to their account. I don't think people should expect that they'll never get their account back and this certainly shouldn't be the accepted practice. Most of the current hacked accounts aren't really coming from poor security on the users part either but from having their password broken from the leaked pass hashes when the forum was compromised (so not really their fault).

There really is a chance to recover their account i.e. if they really own it and besides not all of those cases are because of the user's negligence since some are compromised ndue to the database leak like hilariousetc.

The admins have their own reasons why it takes time to recover those accounts. Some users recovered their account in a matter of days, weeks and even months.

Also, you can't just expect people to never even try to recover their account.

I mean surely it would be best to just disable the change email address option? If you wanted to use a new email why not just create a new account with that email address? This would stop hackers, sellers, less work for the mods, less scams from bought accounts, etc.

I was hacked a month ago, it was only complete luck that I got my account back. I messaged this (hacked) account from my secondary I don't really use and they returned it to me, although this won't be the same for many others as that won't happen and they will just lose control of the account or have it locked. I really had no idea people could take over your account completely just by using the password, seems like a giant flaw in security really that the mods have to spend their time dealing with and it just seems unnecessary.

I wouldn't beg at all.   IF my account were to get Hacked I would let it go. My account has no Tied postings to any accessible BTC Address from the past. Every BTC Address I have ever used has become corrupt. My account is unprotected right now in a sense that i could not Validate it using any previously posted address.

It's just an account that you will never get back. Get over it and move on.

Nah if the Admins cared about their Fucking positions here instead of pocketing cash more people would be helped.

This problem lies solely on the FAILED Admins Shoulders  both previous and current. This problem goes years back. Even when Badbear was an "Admin"

Probably, because as I can see account that get back because it is being banned, hacked, and stolen are very rare to see right now in this forum and as I can see just 2% is high enough to be in that range. Admins do really care if they does, but as far as it goes it doesn't happen because it is on the owners negligence. I think the best thing to do is better secure their emails because if the hackers know it then account's vulnerability is at high, and those being banned is really on the copy pasting issue hope many realized all these problems since it happen as always. They should be aware of these things.

oh really then? Got the point you dont care lets make that as it is.

Tho still am doubtful that you wouldnt even tell yourself that you have invested time and effort for that account. Plus i just cant let hackers roam around the forum doing shitty things like scamming other users

At least all the posts are on one board. Think how bad it would be if these threads were all over the other boards. Smiley

first of all this kind if post wont be happening if there would be no hacked accounts trouble. We dont even know the reason why our account was hacked.
Now this is an indeed useful topic cause we know how volatile our system is. What if the server would go down all of us will be known as a ghost forum did you get my point?

So many Hacked/phished/Compromised accounts with Admins doing NOTHING. Just Crickets playing in the background.

When your Account is Hacked/Phised/Stolen/Compromised you should follow these instructions...According to Admins but in Reality it's  Cheesy Go fuck yourself!

Recovering hacked accounts or accounts with lost passwords

 #1
If you use any sort of Google email service, then the password recovery email will go to your spam folder.

If you want us to recover a hacked/lost account, you need to prove that you own it. Typically, the only acceptable method of proving ownership is by signing a message (including current date and desired new email address) using a Bitcoin address or PGP key associated with the account. A Bitcoin address or PGP key is associated with the account only if the account posted the key/address, sent it in a PM, or if it is still listed in the account's profile.

I very rarely recover accounts if you can't prove ownership as described above. There are alternative ways of proving ownership, but they take too much time. If I point you to this thread, you can't prove ownership properly, and then I ignore your future PMs, this means that I'm not going to recover your account. Create a new one.

Send one PM to Cyrus. If Cyrus doesn't respond after two weeks, you can try sending a PM to me instead. When sending a PM, use a template like this:

Quote
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
My account <account> has been hacked/lost. Please reset the email to <email>. The current date is <date>.
-----BEGIN SIGNATURE-----
<insert address here>
<insert signature here>
-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Here is the unedited post where I posted that address: ...
OR
I sent that address to someone in a PM with PM ID#...

All required info must be in one PM.

Do not create your temporary account using the same email address you want for the hacked/lost account. No two accounts can have the same email address.

I'm sort of tired of it too, because I think meta is one of the most interesting sections to read and to post in.

Any chance there could be a subforum created for people trying to get their hacked accounts back?  Seems like it might be useful and would reduce the clutter in meta.

Then there's the issue of why all these accounts are getting hacked in the first place.  I seriously doubt it's because of the previous database dump that happened a while back--but I might be mistaken.  I'm thinking a lot of people are getting phished with fake bitcointalk websites that ask for your login details.  You have to be careful with those things.  And I'm also wondering if it's a failure of Theymos and the security here, which does seem to be kind of lax--but I'm most definitely not a computer scientist and don't have the knowledge to evaluate that enough to make any accusations.  I am grateful this forum exists in the first place.  As bad as it can be at times, it's still a great forum and I've been a member here longer than any other forum I've registered at.

I dunno about a sub board. Seems a bit ridiculous for one just for hacked accounts especially when they should just be PMing an admin about it. Creating a thread about it is just a last resort if admin's aren't responding really.

The vast majority are because people didn't change their passwords after the hack, though I'm sure it'll become more common via other ways with thousands of people eagerly downloading crapcoin wallets with malware or signing up via a crapcoin site that will infect your computer etc. To be fair, theymos couldn't have really done any more than he did with the way the forum was compromised and it was the hosting's fault for being tricked. It has since been changed to a different one I believe.

What I don't get is why aren't the admins trying to put a stop to account selling? Every day I see a bunch of people selling accounts, most of which are probably hacked.
