The completely fair, incontrovertible, way of doing this is to call a block number guesstimated for Jan 2018 sometime.
release the wallet for scrutiny weeks prior to the fork
Allow the wallets to run along and subsequently break away from the caps blockchain at the predetermined block number.

It's been done before, everybody won ...

If there are technical reason for not doing so please explain them but "sufficient" and "sell your coins" are not  credible answers to valid questions

So this means we'll lose a few weeks of stakes on the CAP chain and destroying the weight and age of CAP due to the consolidation process.

You have 2 month, and can stake 3 times. Make consolidation after stake. You need send periodically CAP to new wallet, if not want freezing wallet. (more then 15K transaction in wallet)

my home server has been running continuously since i registered the domain in august 1997.
currently its an 8core 16gb amd3500.
the first machine back in 1997 was dual-processor (two physical cpu on one motherboard) pentium II/400mhz - that system rocked!

the computer and network/isp hubs+modems are on separate battery/UPS backups for 10 minutes of service which avoids most stormy weather flickers, etc.
i have two consumer/home type ISP connections, broadband cable and fibre (FTTN) DSL. the dsl does not allow incoming connections unless i set up a special exception.

of course there is down time for system upgrades and ISP outages and occasional IP number changes.
but those are not frequent.
i managed to go without rebooting for 19 months once a couple years ago -- then i really wanted to install a larger hard drive

Slackware Linux is the only sensible linux

i run a small number of altcoin daemons for coins i'm either actively mining or coins that i wish to help build a more robust network.
if i'm no longer mining and the coin is robust, i still tend to keep the daemon running until i need the system resources to run a different coin.
for religous reasons i've been running a noodlyappendagecoin (NDL) daemon for about two years continuously now
if i find time some day, i'd like to revive that coin.

i also have other machines (couple windows7, iMac, tablets) on my home network. those handle my personal wallets. i do not keep coins on the server machine.

as for being a checkpoint server, since i'm on a consumer/home grade ISP service with 'rules' about usage, i really cannot commit to running an 'advertised' service of any kind. (ie: i cannot have my domain wired into any code, if its not wired then perhaps i can)
for about 7 years i used to run a part of my network empire on paid-for managed hosting ( i used to run an advertised Email discussion digest that published twice a day) but i could no longer justify that cost when my income became 1/3 of what it used to be and public interest in gently moderated Email discussions faded away to those newfangled social media sites.
paid-for managed hosting is still an option if someone else pays. lol...

the problem with crowd-sourcing a fund collection to pay for exchange listing(s) is who do you trust?
i'd be willing to host a dedicated firewalled wallet for such a purpose, but why would anyone have trust/faith in me?
i'd also suggest funds be collected in low-fee established currencies and regulary converted to BTC (eg: LTC, BCH, Doge options offered as well as BTC.) regular rather than last-minute conversion allows for averaging the market cost of BTC and hopefully avoiding any nasty peak pricing just when we wish to pay the exchange.

hmmm, perhaps instead of hosting a private firewalled wallet, a dedicated new account on an exchange (cryptopia?) to host the wallets and allow conversions to BTC without extra transfer-to-exchange fee costs?

novaexchange just announced that they will not be accepting USA users. it does not affect me, but it's probably not going to be the best choice as the 'only' exchange for a new coin.

nlexch.com may be a good place to list. it's free.
sure, it's low volume, but volumes on that exchange should naturally grow as it gets a greater variety of coins.

This is very valuable right now that this coin has a dev that knows what he's doing.  I'm studying building block explorers and I am surprised you can't do it yourself.  In fact, it's a good idea to start a company that makes them.

I think the coin perhaps could use a rebranding.  It does seem pretty slow in here.
