Stopping gambling after getting addicted to it, will be literally impossible for anyone but we can prevent gambling addictions by safeguarding ourselves through practicing some measurements. Do you mean how to escape in gambling addiction? Its true that if you became addicted it would be hard to escape from this trap and you need a professional help to be able to overcome that.
Gamblers keep on playing even nothing left for him for many reasons one of this are trying to get back what they lost. However despite that i dont think world can stop because of gambling, the player itself  can determine how far he will go as being addicted or end his addiction by changing what he used to.

Gambling ideally should be treated for the fun and enjoying with friends but now people are greed and consider it for making money and becoming millionaire easily with this dream they play and keep playing and will end up losing a huge money for themselves and later realize that they have lost the huge money. I guess we all can not eliminate the gambling game with ease. Gambling games exist and grow because there are still many people who are interested in them. usually people who are desperate and have many problems then they will continue to play gambling regardless of the circumstances. It is impossible the world will obsolete gambling because it was historically and already in the vein, heart and mind of all people for how many years. Except if the whole world or all nations will unite to impose a law that prohibiting gambling and punishable by death it would be possible to gamble to meet the end but i think this is impossible too because governments are gaining income from gambling establishments like tax, more employment and tourism.

Gambling is actually a dangerous thing. I think gambling is the same thing as a trap, you're still likely to get away from the trap but it's very difficult.
