Hi Everyone,

I am wondering if there is any duty, tax, etc on the import of the miners? Also, do people need a bond to import it in the US? A friend of mine is importing miners and he mentioned that the shipping company asked for his EIN/SSN...I wonder why? Thank you very much.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Please read.

The exact same question was asked yesterday almost word for word. It takes a couple minutes to skim through a few pages to what you want on the forum. Don’t repost things that are asked every other day.

For the US it varies based on the cost of the miner and there are import fees. They’re usually quite low and less than $100 per miner IIRC (haven’t bought direct in a while). you’ll pay the customs fees and fill out a few easy forms.

This is answered a gajillion times here - use SEARCH.
Short answer is it depends on the total value of the shipment.
