At what fraction of bitcoin is a transaction not considered "dust" and doesn't incur in higher fees?

If I have lots of 0.05 BTC transactions received will this be a problem when spending?

Is there a way to consolidate lots of "dust" transactions received?

I know that eventually this will not be a problem, but right now it is a problem, one of the bitcoin sales pitch is that it can be divided to 0.00000001, that's a really crappy feature if you are penalized when using it...

The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

I doubt someone consider 0.05 BTC a dust.

in bitcoin-t 8.2. about 5000 satoshis is considered a dust - you cant send such small amount, though you can still spend it

5430 satoshis is now considered dust I think. The new rule was implemented in the main client though you still can send those transactions.

I've read about the 5430 satoshis...

So this is the limit? Lots of transactions above 5430 satoshis will not incur in higher fees when spending?

the fees are 0.0005 per 1000 bytes in 8.1, 0.0001 per 1000 bytes in 8.2

no one care if you spending 0.05 or 0.00000001 inputs, as long as you pay the fee (one input is about 180 bytes)

I wouldn't consider any amount of bitcoins in the world dust. I still have 0.005 bitcoins in my old wallet (lost it), and I really wish I had it.
It's not dust :<

Yes it's actually worth half a dollar. That's sizable.

I see, that's why spending 0.03 BTC from 1 input has something like 0.0005 fee and spending 0.03 from 500 inputs has something like 0.02 fee, it's about how many inputs one received, not how big they are, am I seeing this right?
