It's always good to exercise caution about any trading platform, but also good to have options. If we can get to the point where several trading platforms list DVC, then people who want to trade it can pick their favorite platform and stick with it. I know people who have been satisfied with C-Cex for years, but they note that things have changed for the worse over the past year. Unfortunately that is an all too common tale in the cryptocurrency industry. That's why the overall goal should be to be listed on more than one trading platform.

Agreed. I was one of those people who traded on C-cex for years & was also satisfied up until about 10 months ago when the problems started. It eventually became too risky to use & I pulled everything out about 6 months ago & have not used them since - reading through their thread tells me I definitely made the right choice.
When exchanges go scam it's not just bad news for their users, but it's bad for the coin as well. I'm of the opinion that scam coins use scam exchanges & legitimate coins use legitimate exchanges - I also have a deep rooted mistrust of centralized exchanges as well as all these pop-up & go *poof* exchanges which there seems to be every month lately....so in reality I think there's not a lot for me to choose from..... Cheesy Cheesy

Use diligence & research. Buy coins, sell coins - don't invest in stupid shit. If your questions aren't answered - don't touch it.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

That reminds me so much of Cryptsy. It was great... until it wasn't.

Ditto... I don't even look at them anymore.

You might consider getting a slot on BarderDex https://komodoplatform.com/en/barterdex or one of the other decentralized exchanges, looks like the future.

Blast fro the past, lost a lot of coins there but pulled my major funds just before they went belly up.

I was lucky in that I didn't lose too much--I think just dust--when Cryptsy went belly up. I'd been having progressively worse difficulties with small BTC withdrawals (which was all I was doing back then), and so I kind of gravitated to Poloniex and other trading platforms. I remember I assumed that Cryptsy was having genuine technical difficulties. Nowadays if a trading platform starts to have technical difficulties I take that as a sign to leave.

I'm glad you got your major funds out in time.

I plan to remove any devtome.com domain and sub-domains from the source code!

All voices in favor or against please provide feedback here: https://github.com/coinzen/devcoin/issues/35

Does anyone know who is the administrator for devtome.com ?

I'm in favor of that. Also please remove links to:
http://devcoinblockexplorer.info/

because Shattienator, who made http://devcoinblockexplorer.info/ a long time ago, is no longer uploading receiver files. Also, it looks like the domain is abandoned. This will bring the peers down to 3 to start, which is good because it should be an odd number.

Done!

what we really need is a wallet update
anybody want to do that?

Sidhujag has remained in the Source Administrator position until such time as a replacement can be found. Anyone interested please let me know.

Hey Nova! I'm maintaining the Source code for the last 3 years. Look: https://github.com/coinzen/devcoin/commits Didn't know there was a position for it. Anyways I'm on charge of the source code by default.

Are the compiled binaries at devcoin.org built from the coinzen source too?

In charge of source code by default? What does that mean exactly? Have you made any changes to the code recently?

Bounty Factotum Admin

The Bounty Factotum Admin position is open.

The position requires the Administrator maintains and provides hosting for the business_bounties_xx.csv files as well as
monitoring  claims threads for approved claims.

Please pm me if interested.

- Nova

The new Bounty Factotum is ctya. Thanks for taking it on!

Great to see this get cleaned up
Another problem for new wallet syncing is the receiver file hosts for each of the receiver files
Specifically receiver_28.csv and receiver_20.csv because devcoin receiver.h requires more than 50% of the receiver hosts to maintain the same receiver file and that just isn't the case for those two receiver files.
It may become a problem for other receiver files as well as receiver file hosts fall out of commission or go unmaintained
The workaround is to download a copy of the receiver files to your machine so that devcoin doesn't need to check the validity
The real solution is to replace all of the hosted receiver file "peers" section with up-to-date peers with the correct files.  This requires all new receiver hosts lists and some coordination but it would solve the wallet sync issues for new users

My hope is to get to replacing all my receiver files over the weekend. I haven't done it yet, but I know it's important.

Proposal(s)

It is proposed that two ongoing rewards be given. One for develCuy for his community subsidized service of STEEM-DVC “merged minning” and one to ctya for his duties as Bounty Factotum. Please post any objections to this proposal.

Thanks,

- Nova

The original intention of evcoin is to be praised, and I hope you can keep this working attitude, and there will be more and more people support it.
