I'm on my phone, so sorry if I don't reply.

But
If you want writing support, ideas, or even just another group of writers to talk to, it's national novel writing month and I'm sure the nanowrimo.com threads are active as shit.

I'll be on there when I get Internet in my new apt, I'm HannibalImhotep there.

Also, everyone there is writing a 50,000 word book this month (or at least trying to) maybe a few of us should PM some invites to devtome.

That was my idea lol I said to you on mcxnow :p  Sounds good to me.

Well we should do it.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Look at all the other alt coin, the Bitcoin effect is killing them all.

No buy wall is gonna stop what Bitcoin is doing - there needs to be some other mode of action.

no, i agree to some extent but it is not a straight correlation, if you watch vircurex for example the past few days, even while btc was rallying buys on actually decent volume keep happening up to .00000025-.00000029, but then devtome holders keep dumping it down to .00000021, even directly after a buy of several million dvc. it's like, they could even just place a small percentage of the dump into a limit order and gain 20-25% on that amount in the course of a day if they would just wait!

It's relative to volume, so as btc gets precious volume dies down on alts... but if we have volume on the exchange mcx or vircurex this will draw in enough buyers to sustain price. Right now there is not enough volume in terms of btc on these exchanges to warrant these prices. As people come in and buy/sell to create volume hopefully more buyers come in on a daily basis to drive demand.

Here is some quick math for you: 7.2 million dvc a day is created. How many BTC does it take to sustain 7.2 million DVC a day so that price ISN'T falling at say DVC 30 satoishi?.

7.2 million / 30 satoishi = 2.16 BTC a day to sustain 0.0000003..

If you look at vircurex + mcx volume we are above 2 btc a day on average so we are at fair market value here. If you let 7.2 million = A 30 satoishi = B and 2.16 = C, by increasing C you in extension will increase B since A is static.

Writers selling off right away are just selling into oversold territory because they either don't know or don't care about price. They are creating volume which is good because there has to be a buyer to every seller and if you BELIEVE that C is going to rise over time then you also BELIEVE that price will rise regardless of what writers are doing to dump the price.

As bitcoin rises it will be harder for C to rise because C becomes more scarce, however at rock bottom volume's I think it may be safe to say that C can't get much lower especially since mcx volume is tending to rise over time on an exponential curve currently.

Writer's can sell undervalued but that is your gain to know this information which you can use to sell at higher prices once volume picks up.

The more people that have Devcoins, the better the economy will be. People buying and selling our coins, is better than us earning them free and holding them as they get infinitely produced.

So, check yourself before judging what is hurting "us" in the long run.

Can someone please work on the source code for this coin, this is what we really need. The coin has been damaged by bad development which is ironic, can we group together and find a solid developer?

Yeah, we really need an updated source.

Yes 'the more people that have Devcoins' NOT the more devcoins that people have, which is why the trend discussed continues as dvc payouts remain too skewed via the current system. Some obviously place greater value on their work than others, evident in trading and devtome writing quality, effecting a crowding out effect. It may therefore be entirely appropriate to refer to dumping and damaging others' efforts.

A number of us have tried to catalyse getting the updates done. I'm not sure where things stand right now, but it's not helped right now by a tiered incentive structure that's giving 75% of dvc to devtome writers so many can sell them off the bat undermining any motivation to take up the task. And yes I've said this before, but as nothing has changed I'll say it again.

If you write for Devtome, the PURPOSE of payment is to help you further your work.

If you don't spend your devcoins on getting research books, or making art, or buying software, or even just paying your internet bill... You could be doing a LOT more for the coin.

Sell some devcoins and get a webcam, and start talking about devtome on Youtube.

Then start reviewing other Devtomers work via YouTube... then...

Get a Dragon voice recognition headset, so you can talk into a headset and it will type for you. Then make videos to show others that they can do it.

And put a Devcoin wallet address under all the videos and tell people to buy devcoins and tip you with them to support you and the coin.

Do SOMETHING. And don't say "someone else is probably doing it" the MORE of us that make these videos, the HIGHER the price of DVC goes.

If that was addressed to me...the only reason you're able to do all that and accrue any value whatsoever for your writing is because enough of us value our efforts highly enough to choose not to sell into a falling market at these prices. I could sell all my dvc (and so could everybody else just like all those who hold btc etc), take out the entire orderbook and any prospective buyers for some time to come. That would mean you'd have nowhere to 'spend' yours.

Instead, I actually value the effort I put in at > near 0 and think it's more important to work on, promote and build a base of dvc trading, projects and businesses (including devtome), to focus on the most important projects that need addressing, and go from there. So instead of preaching from a position of faux self-righteousness why don't you instead appreciate that your good fortune is completely subject to the longer-term perspective of others and at this point without a self-sustaining market has almost nothing to do with anything you have done yourself (and I'm referring to the efforts of others there, not me).

Everyone here needs to watch the Bail-out/Dave & Busters/Shanty Town/Economy episode of Always Sunny.

SOMEONE HAS TO CARE ENOUGH TO BUY THE NEW CURRENCY, THAT ONLY HAPPENS IF YOU DON'T TRY TO KEEP THE MONEY IN SMALL CIRCLES

And you can't just expect free money to gain value without the outside taking interest.

Here, enjoy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiNhNArP3PA

(not all of it is relevant, you have to pay attention. Watch Mac and Dennis (the 2 drunk guys) 10:11 is almost specifically about DVC, just think "Devcoin" instead of "Paddy's Bucks" )

They discover at the end that they need something more than free money, and a shanty town to give the free money to.

My point is, you guys hold coins silently. Nothing happens.

If you sell coins to someone, even at shit prices. They buy that coin, they start saying good things about DVC (so they can get people to be interested in buying their coins for more). Then they sell their coins for a higher price, allowing a new person to do the same thing they did.

If we all just earn coins and hold them, nothing will happen. If you all want to hold coins, you need to be on MCXnow talking up devcoin at least 2 days a week.

Nothing happens because there is little incentive right now. Us 'guys holding coins silently' are among those who think devcoin could actually go places with the right structure, who actually transact in the dvc businesses set up, who work on and put up funds to try getting things like necessary code updates and videos done, who (personally) wrote and accrued dvc via devtome just to ensure there'd be fewer for you to obviously sell for whatever you could get, who read through and file the garbage you write on devtome, who maybe have some idea about how an orderbook works, and who ultimately ensure there is any price whatsoever for you on exchanges. But yeah maybe you're right and I'm wrong and I should just sell up to somebody who will buy low, sell lower and continue rolling over that incredibly fruitful procedure to zero just to shut you up and stop you writing stuff nobody will ever read.

You guys MAY be doing that, but I am doing it also, by SELLING coins so I can fucking afford it. And I am also asking everyone and their grandma to come here to do the same.
