Wow, im a devtome writer and this proposal sounds fantastic! Its all about making the coin open source. More and more society will realize the importance of open source. We need a currency that represents those values.

Great stuff!

Devcoin is in really good hands with hunterbunter at the helm the rest of the crew manning the ship.

Here is the proposal for those who missed it...

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

I have been away a while but if anyone is interested, devcoinproject.com is mine and Im happy to work on the new site. Currently it runs Joomla CMS (open source) and can be configured to do most anything we need. I just havnt done anything with it in a few months.

I started with a heap of the suggestions from way back but then the community seemed to change its mind on what it wanted so a clear plan forward is great.

Would it be alright if I spread the word to designers outside of the bitcoin community?

Random Devcoin animation.

Newsam just messaged me on coinzen with an animation he made. It has 80's music, style and cinematography, and I really liked it (not sure if on purpose or due to tech on hand). Maybe it's just nostalgia...I miss the 80s...so much character. Anyway, I thought I would share:

Yes of course!

They will need a devcoin address to get paid shares if they win though, but I guess that's the whole point.

Ok so i don't know if this was already brought up at all or if anything similar was tried, Do you think devtome as well as writing should sponsor photography? Maybe something like 1 share per 10 original pictures and the pictures would be rated for quality, overall look... Im not talking about family reunion type pictures but more like scenery, automotive, nature and other things people may like. Tell me what you think.

I think there is already an avenue for this kind of work but it requires collaboration to work in it's current form (Ie: if a writer uses your image, out of courtest should share their payment because they get "paid more" for articles with images)

I also think an image repository/morgue for Devtome writers to access might prove useful in addition to this for those who want to focus on images. Traditionally images in a morgue are only paid for when they are used, so this could work here:

As all the Devtome raters I have seen award additional ratings to articles with appropriate images there is already an avenue for determining the "worth" of an image.

All that would be needed is some kind of tag/scrypt that records when an image from the morgue is used on a Devtome article and whatever that rating equates to as percentage of share is awarded to the photographer/artist. (who would probably have a profile page on Devtome like a writer does and their address is scraped from there for payment.

Just my 2cents in a random moment between shifts x

Just some additional information about this topic.  It has been discussed a good amount on the Devcoin forum as well.  There are some pretty good ideas and suggestions over there.  If you get a chance, go give them a look.

About a year ago Devtome started the category thing, and I am not good with computers, so that confused me. Then my wallet stopped working so I got frustrated and just stopped doing anything related to devcoin.

Today I decided to try to find the new wallet, and I found it. So I have a wallet again now, and it works. I added it to my Devtome page, and I wrote an article, and added it to the new articles page.

Not that anyone needed to know, I just felt like posting here.

Random Question:
If I leave the DVC wallet open on my computer, am I mining?

You had best inform an admin of your new Devcoin address. The receiver files are generated using the wallet address on file, not the 'tip' address listed on your Devtome page.
