If mesh networks still cannot be done effectively, and are significantly less technically complicated than IOTA, how does IOTA look remotely investable?
Not sure why one precludes the other--in fact that's one of the reasons that IOTA is being looked at by Corporations, because many aspects of the IOT are still unsolved problems. If you're talking about the difficulty of getting small devices exchanging value and data, that's where most of the work is being done. Data Market place is the proof of concept that you can get small sensors communicating data and have that data exchanged for value. I get that - it seems like a moonshot that if successful will be massively important. It's just not clear that the tech can actually work at this point.

So much FUD around IOTA. I'm sure Bosch, Volkswagen, Maersk, Fujitsu, and the city of Taipei would have a different opinion about the potential of the Tangle and IOTA team, but what do they know? They are just some of the most powerful companies on the planet. I'm sure they didn't do any due diligence before aligning themselves with them.
Go put your money in Doge and we'll talk again next year about how our investments are doing.

I get that - it seems like a moonshot that if successful will be massively important. It's just not clear that the tech can actually work at this point. The network is working--it was at 13 ctps today (I think that's comprable to ETH and without a single fee). The goal is to get it up to 1000ctps within the next 3-6 months. Bosch and a few other hardware manufactuers are testing with the data marketplace and within their own proof-of-concepts at factories and labs. There are other projects like Pearl that are using IOTA's network to build their own specialized networks. It's not like they are just making their claims based on hopium--there are a lot of smart people working accross governments, corporations and within the cryptocurrency space to make IOTA the backbone of the IOT.

IOTA is a good and strong project. And the most important thing that it is a project from China and this country already gave us many high-quality coins. The only thing that can scare the market is that China doesn't have a certain attitude towards crypto yet.

Actually the two IOTA founders are from Germany and Norway. The IOTA foundation is based in Germany as well. As far as I know there are not many connentions to China.

China? It's foundation is registered in Germany. And founders are from Norway, Germany and Belarus. Nothing to do with China

I really like IOTA, but so far it is falling with the whole market. I look forward to her good growth this year. I believe in this coin!

I have seen many posts from you which are very much appreciated! If I make ask, since this is in the price speculation area, what are your thoughts/predictions on the price of Iota for dec 18 and dec 19?

I have seen many posts from you which are very much appreciated! If I make ask, since this is in the price speculation area, what are your thoughts/predictions on the price of Iota for dec 18 and dec 19? No clue, I'm terrible at guessing prices. IOTA could become the backbone of the IOT and be in the trillions for marketcap or it could dwindle into the abyss of P2P and compete with 1000s of other coins for a piece of the action. The next 3-6 months will be telling--the question is if IOTA can live up to the Devs expectations of 100-1000ctps and continue work with corporations on hardware solutions that expand the network into real world applications. In the very near term, increased usability through the exchange module hub.ixi and new wallets will be a big positive for investors and speculators who are on the fence and make their evaluations primarily on direct experience. I'll guess 8-16 for end of this year (positive outcome) or 1-2 (negative outcome). As far as 2019, there are really too many unknowns, so I'll guess 15-30 (positive outcome) and 2-4 (negative outcome). Again, I'm horrible at guessing prices, so take with a grain of salt--the market may invalidate these guesses pretty early if Bitcoin surges or sinks.

I am on board WITH IOTA from less than one dollar and I continued to hold it even at 5 now it has come down a lot but I see potential here and I will hold it .

I like IOTA but at the moment is an idea, is a very high risk investment and I personally prefer low risk investments.
This coin is not a high risk asset. It is like the BNT and Ethereum. IOTA also reap you good profit in just two years. So, read the company future prospect and its plan from it's website thoroughly then invest.

I heard a few people mention IOTA is not that good. I heard Charlie Lee said something negative about them.
Does anyone know if this coin is a good buy? Also, if you own IOTA, aren't you betting against ETH ? Thus it would not make sense to own ETH and IOTA? Is there any conflict if you own iota and other coins?

Charlie was called out for that--he basically asked about IOTA on twitter and when some of his followers started FUDing, he helped pile on. It looked orchestrated and the IOTA Devs were quick to call out the misinformation (DCI FUD and Microsoftgate). He did something similar to Monero when coinbase was having a discussion. IOTA is specifically built to be the backbone of the IOT, so not what Eth is set up to do. Though Pearl Oyster is building a token platform that works off the IOTA network, which will be in direct competition to Eth. Though in regard to Pearl, I'm not sure why you wouldn't own competing coins--it's no different than buying Mercedes and Lexus stock--they may both succeed or you may wish to hedge in case one wins out.

Ethereum is also losing prices like all other projects. But I want to believe that we have come to the end of the decline. If we are a little more patient, it may start to rise.
