Anyone else finding 0.10.4 for OS X is crashing just as the wallet attempts to sync?
Is this because I should be rescanning. Would be appreciated if someone could outline this in steps?

I'm not technically inclined, from the crash log these bad/invalid operations stood out. Any suggestions as to what i might be doing wrong would be helpful?

Exception Type:        EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes:       KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000008
Exception Note:        EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY
I have tested the OS X client and have not noticed any crashes. I think your intuition is correct, you may need to initiate a rescan of the blockchain.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

How do I do a rescan of the blockchain without opening the wallet? Would appreciate it if you could include some steps/instructions.

To rescan the blockchain, create or modify your florincoin.conf file.

On OS X, the path to florincoin.conf is

Code:
/Users/<your username here>/Library/Application Support/Florincoin/florincoin.conf

add reindex=1 to this file.
Code:
...
addnode=54.209.141.153
gen=0
testnet=0
reindex=1

I'm also doing a reindex now to make sure it works properly.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure you remove reindex=1 before you start the wallet again, unless you want to reindex all over again.

If it doesn't exist, you have to create it Wink

Looks like you're in the correct directory.

Metacoin, i tried creating the florincoin.conf in text edit and deselecting the txt ending in textedit preferences.
I'm doing something wrong still as the wallet is crashing. Am i not creating the conf file properly?

Un-check the box to "Hide Extension" the file is named "florincoin.conf.rtf" as seen in your screenshot right hand side

Thanks bitspill, unchecked the hide extension box and deleted rft, then when prompted which file ending keep 'rtf' or use 'conf' i selected 'conf'. Am getting an error message about parse configuration file, any ideas how to solve this?

It looks as though some of the rtf formatting tags are still in the document. Can you now open the file in a plain text editor and delete the offending lines. Notepad++ works well for that on windows not sure what you have on a mac though

TextEdit can save documents as plain text. Since it sounds like it was saving as rich text, what you should do theColj, is go to the Format menu and click "make plain text" and that will convert it for you.
