Restricting newbs from making posts is also ridiculous.

I disagree. Restricting newbies has it's purposes. One is to prevent spam and scamming. It's protecting others. You choose to use this forum, you were not forced to join. Therefore, should understand the measures and rules put in place to prevent mayhem.

I would just like to clarify when I said posts I meant posting threads, I agree with the restrictions in place for posting as it does cut down spam and spambots etc, but It doesn't really prevent scams.

I see. Although, restriction on posting their own threads is also a good thing. It prevents them advertising malicious content very easily through multiple accounts. With the restrictions in place they would be less likely to create many accounts and spam. But, yes I know that they could just post instead of opening up their own thread.
But, I think seeing the same person spamming loads of threads could be a problem. Especially from companies with spambots etc.

The same reason why I think it reduces scamming. It limits the amount of people creating multiple accounts and acting that the person/service is legit when it's not. I think the restrictions should be a little more and the users should only be approved by staff if anything. The current system is working and I think does a good job.

I think it's a max 28 activity you get per month.

It's a forum, not an IRC room. 6 minutes being too long to wait is indicative of a problem.

lol you got 140 activity points it might have changed few times in between.

I'm not sure when my activity goes up.   Theymos thought that maybe I didn't post in a 14 day period, but I'm pretty sure i posted at least 2-3 times per day.   I have seen a bunch of people that have less posts, and have been registered shorter than me, with higher activity, so it is kind of confusing

activity is the smaller of the two following numbers:  time * 14 and the number of posts that you have made.
