Over the years watching the bitcoin mining taking off, moving from one mining standard to another as companies move in and out, I just got thinking are we at an impass now?

We seem to have one main company making 0.098 J/GH for some time now, is this the limit of our technology? is there anything more to come that's better?

this raises more questions, will the difficulty start to level off (but still growing steady as more population come online) will the price steady off until next halving? what if another company joins in now making the same stuff? will they have a fair shout so that all the hashing power is not capitalized by one company?

would love to hear your thoughts for the future.
