I think this is pretty obvious in that Bitcoin is the new thing in today's generation. Thus, the increasing number of people who search for it online on the premise that they will, in turn, acquire knowledge about it and earn out of it. As has been said earlier in this thread, you have to be fairly familiar about something before you even desire to earn out of it. Surely, the number of this people who search for Bitcoin online are due to the fact of the latter's popularity in today's market. It is, in fact, curiosity that led these people to search and know about Bitcoin.

A search doesn't mean a translate to bitcoin buying. Yes, I would have to agree that bitcoin searches lately is up however, people are just curious as to what it really does as opposed to gold who we already know is an asset and act as an hedge. Even it you do look at how a country searches about bitcoin, you can see that even in Africa, many people are searching for it. Does it mean that in Africa more people are buying? No. Although is good to know that people are getting into bitcoin and its getting a lot of attention lately. But it doesn't have any correlation on getting and buying bitcoins. More awareness is always better, it is obvious that not all those people are buying but some are and those that research bitcoin are now potential buyers of bitcoin they are going to begin to immerse in this world and at some point in the future many of them may take the shoot and buy some bitcoin, not only that but how many of these people are now sharing information with friends and family, we cannot see those stats but that is important as well. |

In fact, people are investing in bitcoin more than they are investing in gold or even any other investment portfolio, bitcoin is the best investment opportunity out there now in the world and everyone should invest while they still can. Because it obvious that all people need money, so they see the potential of bitcoin rather than gold, when they are investing in bitcoin they can get profit, while gold you can also can get profit to it but not much than bitcoin. Also right now some people searching gold for accessories or collection only. |

its not crazy its normal _:D becours bitcoin is making much more profit daily than gold  also gold is a old think not so intrested as bitcoins , most of people know gold but dont know bitcoins. kind regards |

Today people know more about gold than bitcoin, so I'm not surprised by that. Since the majority of people search for bitcoin in google search, they want to learn about bitcoin, the benefits of having bitcoin and how to get it.

Everybody wants to find out about bitcoin especially when seeing a fantastic price increase from year to year, very much different from the increase in gold price, this can be good news because of course more and more people will become bitcoin enthusiasts/users, and from many users/enthusiast are expected bitcoin can touch the new high price. Just my opinion  |

This is only the beginning and we have far much more to achieve.
It is pretty obvious that we saw a massive growth in bitcoin and
altcoins this year and it certainly has caught a lot people's attention.
I think a lot of this growth is built on hype and FOMO due to which
we see ATH every few days.

Gold is a reliable investment protecting saving from inflation and yielding minimal profit. Bitkoyn only in this year has grown already almost ten times and continues to grow in price. Therefore, the demand for it is completely understandable, because people want to get the maximum profit. And they manage to do it while investing in bitcoin.

The two has a great difference,Bitcoin is very rare type of currency which can be mined using powerful computer accessories and has no definite composition which could only present in computer. Gold can also be mined but in a process of physical means. It exerts a lot of effort using your full strength to obtain Gold. One big reason why more people searching for bitcoins rather than Gold because it is very a new to the public, It is also very expensive rather than Gold, and accelerates its value so fast.

Unlike gold , bitcoin has made huge increases in value and is a based on a very interesting technology that can be further developed . Over the years bitcoin made a reputation and it's fame was world wide spread out due to the innovation and the new ideology it came up with . So no doubt that people got interested with it since it's too interesting and too futurist to not care about . Gold's days have already passed and we can't deny that it's the veteran of all coins and is still the traditional's banking system only element of giving value to the "paper money" , but it's time for new challenges and economical and experience enhancement , and that's where bitcoin is going to be the star .

Exactly,this show that the popularity of bitcoin is increasing and so the value continue to climb.Investors now see bitcoin as a retirement vehicle but this dose not mean that bitcoin is gold.

Bitcoin is fast approaching the so desired mainstream adoption... But should we really be pursuing that right now? I dont think blockchain can handle this traffic yet and many people might get burned and never come back...

Sure it is better than FIAT money at being a universal ledger, but it is not better than BTC and that's why BTC is becoming more popular now. Gold is definitely not a thing of the past. People in general have never been really much into searching for precious metals, unless they expect serious economical difficulties coming up. Bitcoin is hot topic in the media, where the main subject is how hard its market has gone up this year, which understandably gets people excited and makes them search for it. It's all very speculative still, so only time will tell how many of these people will stay when the market starts consolidating, or even go down for a longer while. If we look at past search explosions for Bitcoin, it shows that there are peaks and moments of there not being as many search requests. |

Bitcoin is the future and Gold is the past. This will continue to happen until Bitcoin finally surpasses golds market cap and keeps growing larger and larger in comparison. This change in store of value won't take even 10years.

Bitcoin possesses some characteristics of physical gold. It even has some benefits over it, like being able to transfer it accross the world in a few minutes. Unlike gold, if power goes down Bitcoin is useless, unless you can solve the transaction by hand. Which is very time consuming. Not the prime choice for doomsday preppers I am sure.

When I tried to reproduce the data using Google trends, I could not find BTC surpassing gold.
