There are plenty of advanced people here in the Newbie forum.  Try starting your discussion here first.  Then if your questions/comments haven't already been seen a few hundred times from other individuals like yourself, and you aren't getting useful discussion here, you can always move your thread to one of the other sub-forums later.

That's weird. Maybe the restrictions are bigger for newbies than full members.

Probably the best advice. Why the hell most newbies miss it and start complaining?

The forum seems to be capable of keeping track of which threads I've read and which I haven't. Wouldn't it be great if the forum somehow were to prevent a logged in user from seeing any of the other threads until they have read (clicked on) the NEWBIE README thread?

No posting to existing threads, no creating new threads, no reading of existing threads, not even seeing existing threads in the list of threads. The only thread that appears is the NEWBIE README.  Then once you've clicked on that, perhaps the only threads that become visible to you are the threads that the NEWBIE README thread directly links to, and the threads with posts made by Satoshi himself.  Still nothing else, and still no ability to create any posts or threads at all. Then once you've read (clicked on) at least one of these secondary visible posts, the current newbie rules take effect.

It would make it so much easier for the user of below average intelligence to find the NEWBIE README thread, and would guarantee that they've at least managed to click on it once.

Just signed up today, but have spent a good amount of time reading the various sections, some quite exciting and brilliant things happening, still have lots to learn but I combine this with visiting other bitcoin related sites and generally dipping my toes in the satoshi world.

Or do it like some of the auto forums I'm on - other users can rate you. Low enough rating, you're permabanned.
