Please help me, stuck transaction, will reward

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately, I didn’t do much research and it appears I put my bitcoin into a shady wallet, bcoiner, that doesn’t allow me easy access my private key. The wallet had no problem receiving my transaction but it has been >30 hours since I have attempted to send my bitcoins elsewhere and there’s is 0 confirmations and no option for me to do anything.

I can’t seem to find the trx i’d anywhere - perhaps someone can help. If anyone can help push this transaction through I would be happy to compensate. The wallet forced a fee of 0.0001 which I understand is quite low, but I’ve also now come accross some people complaining of the same situation with bcoiner.

What wallet are you using? Upon checking your bitcoin wallet address(1MbPRPBYmvonGE9733DNt6d6qXusSwyKxV)

And the receiving address is different address from the address you mention and the address of that transaction above..

There is no other transaction been made from this address (1MbPRPBYmvonGE9733DNt6d6qXusSwyKxV) except the above  transaction.. is it your transaction?

When checking your TXID its not valid TXID i can't even check in blocktrail explorer...

That transaction simply does not exist anywhere. It isn't even on chain.so (which usually shows most of the "missing" transactions that other block explorers don't have)...
As for the "bcoiner" wallet itself... It sounded "familiar"... sure enough, I found this thread from over a year ago: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1567809.0

Like then, I'm still convinced that the wallet is a scam. No contact details, no terms of service. You should probably consider those funds pretty much lost.

The wallet I was using is called Bcoiner, with the address 1MbPRPBYmvonGE9733DNt6d6qXusSwyKxV.

The transaction you are seeing is the original transfer I made from my exchange (Quadriga) into my Bcoiner wallet. That one worked no problems.

Not being able to find my trx id and it showing as not valid is exactly my problem.

Now i see that there is the transaction you posted from my original wallet going to 1DFah7EwnD5tZjtCPx3ZxsSHkxYdYMKeRK.
I don't know what wallet this is. Have my bitcoins been stolen?

Sounds about right - considering there is now an actual transaction to a wallet that is not mine, I can imagine the funds are gone

An Apple Developer ID simply means they paid some money... "The cost is 99 USD per membership year." Given that this one user has lost 0.11 BTC... that's USD$600+... $99 is a small price to pay

Perhaps there is malware or such that exploits bcoiner specifically? Does their interface show you any transaction history that tells you which address you sent it to?

I'm not sure if it's possible but if so I'd grab it, import into another wallet and attempt to send the BTC to another wallet but this time put the fee high and then use a paid accelerator to make sure they add that transaction to a pool's next found block as I see this one is still unconfirmed?

So, I did some more digging... signed up for a dummy account... and noticed there is a "Backup" option. This lets you download an encrypted wallet file... which downloads as "coinpunk.txt" Further investigation shows: https://github.com/kyledrake/coinpunk

A, now defunct and no longer maintained/developed, DIY web-wallet service... so it looks like bcoiner.com is simply a rebadged version of coinpunk.

The "good" news, is that I was able to decrypt the "coinpunk.txt"... and it showed this:

I checked the private key using bitaddress.org, and the key matches the address... So maybe it IS possible that the OP can recover their coins. They'll need to be quick and try to recover them before that other transaction confirms tho!


So, maybe it seems that it is not that bcoiner.com is a scam as such, but possibly it is just full of security flaws allowing hackers to steal wallet files/passwords, get the private keys and then steal peoples coins?

Quick howto on how I'd go about something like would be:

1. Download and install Electrum
2. Create new wallet
3. Select Wallet -> Private Keys -> Sweep
4. Paste private key from coinpunk.txt, click Sweep and Broadcast
5. Get transaction id
6. Visit like https://pushtx.btc.com/, paste in transaction id and hope you win the race to confirmation

I'm not following - I was able to get the private key (THANK YOU), however now on electrum i have the wallet and 0 funds. The last transaction to the fraud account is still unconfirmed. What are my next steps to win the race?

Unfortunately, because that other transaction is already broadcast, you need to try and execute a "double spend"... not easy as a lot of the nodes will have the "fraud" transaction in their mempool and will likely reject your new transaction.

You can try to create a transaction using coinb.in but use a much larger fee than the 200 sats/byte the fraud transaction uses. Can't guarantee the network will accept the new transaction thought

So you performed the sweep? Did it say no valid inputs or something? Or did the broadcast go through? Does your History tab show you anything?

In the history i see the original bitcoins received and the unconfirmed transaction to the account that is not mine.

The sweep saying no valid inputs means there's no balance on the wallet (because of the unconfirmed transaction).

What HCP stated is true then, the mempool knows about the transaction. Your next step might be an attempt to do a replace by fee?

Yeah, it won't let you sweep, because it considers the UTXO as already spent (by the unconfirmed transaction)... you will need to manually create the transaction on coinb.in

Go here: https://coinb.in/#newTransaction

Click "Outputs": enter the address you actually want the coins to go to.... in amount, just go for 0.11 (you're going to "sacrifice" 0.00567874 BTC as a HUGE fee to try and beat the thief!)
Click "Inputs":

Well it's not exactly a RBF in his example here:

MultiBit HD

MultiBit HD allows for making Full RBF transactions fairly easy as well. Go to Manage Wallet and click on Repair Wallet and follow the wizard. This process will clear all of the unconfirmed transactions from your wallet much like Bitcoin Core and Armory do. Once repair wallet has completed, simply send the Bitcoin again as you normally would.
