Which crypto are you dealing with? If you are using multiple crypto-currencies then it is best to have a seperate wallet for each one like My Ether Wallet for ethereum, Mycellium wallet for Bitcoin and so on. Just make sure you handle your private keys securely.

We used hard wallet ledger because it cannot be hacked by scammers. It is more safe than online wallet.

MyEtherWzllet. I use it and I'm fine with it. Seems safe and sound, and if it works - why change it?
I recommend it.

Safest wallets to use are ledger, trezor but they come with a price. If you want you can use paper wallet instead or other wallets like myetherwallet for Ethereum, rippex for ripple, DeepOnion qt for onion etc. Always remember to use wallets from official sites only.

Should I just write it on a piece of paper? What do you guys use?

For Etherium based tokens my ether wallet or meta mask wallet can be used and for Neo based tokens Neo tracker wallet can be used.

Depends on what coins you are holding. For ERC20 I like MetaMask and MyEtherWallet.  They seem to be the easiest.  Good luck.

Honestly, it is hard to know what is safest wallet to use,  because there are risk.
There are trusted wallet but not really safe if you don't careful.
But my currently use is MyEtherWallet it was good and I think you should use this wallet.

downloaded different wallet apps to discover it and while doing this I also make reading on a forum with the discussion about this matter just to see which wallet is using by many.  I usually check the rank of a person. So far I'm using the coinomi, myether, coinbase, and coins.ph(philippines).
