Aloha,
This message is for "mikeywith" or anyone that can help.  The original conversation is below.

I am trying to configure and get my s17 pro online through nicehash.  I dont know what version of software i had but i did a factory reset.  I did this because the miner would not show on my router.

Questions:
sha 256 or sha 256 boost
what firmware if any
how to determine what version i have or had
to flash or not flash
sound proof box recommendations

I just want to get this going asap

Aloha & Mahalo

Aloha,

I really would appreciate some help.  My miner will not connect to my network.  I order another modem/router that will be here tomorrow, its a netgear 3.1 Surfboard  My current is a netgear C3700 3.0 Docsis.   But this router seems fine for everything else.  I have tested my ethernet cable it is also fine.  On occasion my miner will be found on my router interface under "allowed but not connected". But most time it does not  register at all.  So im trying to isolate the problem.  The router, network setting, needs to be flashed, needs new firmware, factory reset, or just plain broken.  I bought this from Ebay.  I sure would appreciate your help.

Aloha & Mahalo

So your problem is your miner can't connect to the router?

If you already factory reset the miner and it still can't show the IP in your router try to flash the unit through an SD card.

You can follow the guide from this link
- s17 pro control board program recovery

And then use the SD card firmware from this link "S17 pro SD card firmware"

After that use the software provided by Bitmain to find the IP of your miner.
Download it here APMinerTool
That would help to scan the IP of your miner.

The other question you had we will answer it later after you solve the first issue. Take note ASICboost firmware is power-efficient firmware.

sha 256 or sha 256 boost

All of the S17 pro firmware versions are asicboost.

Quote
what firmware if any

All the stock versions are pretty the same, the latest one has tighter security which can go against your desire when you want to change the firmware so it's not recommended.

Quote
how to determine what version i have

In the miner status page, pay attention to the date.

Quote
to flash or not flash

If it's working no need to flash.

It's very unlikely that your router is causing this issue, it could be some IP conflict going on, it would be best to set a static IP for the miner which is outside of the router DHCP range, if you don't know how to do that just watch a few videos on youtubeظ
