Hi,

I made a deposit to bittrex roughly 36 hours ago and the transaction still has no confirmations in bittrex and shows as unconfirmed in my local wallet. I'm somewhat new to bitcoin, so I'm unsure if I did something wrong or if I just need to wait.  Here's the transaction ID: 20b11701affc507c6d02cb0d6343d5a868be905fe766c00141d659fef0b9022e

It's a bigger amount for me, so if there's anyway to push this along (pay a bigger fee to someone), I'm happy to do it.  It's said "expected confirmation time" of 25 blocks for the last 12+ hours.

Thanks for any help.
Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Thanks.  So, just to be clear, the transaction will confirm eventually?  I was just worried I did something wrong because my bitcoin transfers usually take <6 hours to confirm.

The number of transactions on the Bitcoin network has steadily increased over the years. This means more blocks are filling up. And as not all transactions can be included in the blockchain straight away. If you want to have your transaction confirmed faster, the obvious solution is to include a higher fee.

Your fee is OK, but the network is flooded and mempool is full of unconfirmed transaction.

You could try the free accelerator services from Service section (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0)

Or just be patient. It will confirm eventually.

You can use the transaction accelerator at https://pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ to push the transaction. You used a fee that is way too low for the current network congestion.

Be patient, that's normal problem. It depend on your trading exchange platform. In the future, please verify your account to higher level to avoid longtime waiting.  Wink

I see no relation between OP problem and the exchange platform!! he sent bitcoin from his wallet to an exchange website thus the only explanation is that he didn't add enough fee and with the network getting congested, even transactions with high fees will take longer as usual to be confirmed.

Thanks for responses. Glad to know I didn't make a mistake.  For now, I'm just going to wait it out.

You could try and replace the transaction with a transaction that pays a higher transaction fee, or you could wait.

It is impossible to predict when the current transaction will confirm.  You could get very lucky and a miner might choose to confirm it in the next block that is solved (in a few minutes from now), or you could get unlucky and wait many days.

If you get tired of waiting and want to try replacing the transaction, then you can come back here and ask.  There are several knowledgeable users here at bitcointalk that can walk you through the process.

Confirmed suggest next time you use https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/ to set a proper fee based on network congestion.

You can use the transaction accelerator at https://pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ to push the transaction. You used a fee that is way too low for the current network congestion.

In addition to that link to figure out what fee you should use, you should also check out the blockchain.info mempool size graphs at https://blockchain.info/charts/mempool-size. Looking at these on a 1-day and 7-day range can help you figure out when the mempool is at the smallest size. You can then start to see a pattern with which you can determine what days of the week and what times you should be transacting bitcoins in order to pay the smallest possible fee. This does become kind of annoying, but it is the best possible thing you can do at the moment. Do note that right now the current graphs might not help much as the real reason the network is so congested at the moment is because of the sudden surge in popularity due to the price approaching $10K. Any other time, this method works quite well.

There is the possibility of increasing the network fee, so that your transaction has "priority" to be included in the next block, beyond that possibility there is the "TX accelerator" offered by Via BTC one of the largest bitcoin miners, where users can send any TXID that includes a minimum rate of 0.0001BTC / KB to ViaBTC, where it will prioritize your transaction to include in the next block.
