Buying below the ask on MtGox?

Hello,
Just put in a trade request on MtGox for a price slightly below the Ask price. Will this be filled when it reaches that price? How long does it last. I'm looking at the site and don't see anything about this pending request.

And hypothetically speaking, say I put in a sell order for my bitcoins at $50. If it reached that next month, would it go through? Can I cancel it? I ask because on a stocking trading site I was on a while ago, these orders expired after 24 hours.

I think they're up until they're filled or canceled.
