Hi guys, pardon my ignorance, but is this coin officially connected to Mega or Kim, is it somehow backed, or is it more like fan made coin? Thank you.

Hi guys, pardon my ignorance, but is this coin officially connected to Mega or Kim, is it somehow backed, or is it more like fan made coin? Thank you.

There is a lot of speculation on that particular subject.  For example, this tweet:
https://twitter.com/kimdotcom/status/425921037197254656

Also this:
https://twitter.com/kimdotcom/status/485905560731013120
Where the quote from The Matrix was coincidentally posted by the developer kimoto, around the same timeframe.

To be fair, I think there is also a youtube video where KDC was pressed on the issue...  denied it at the time, if I remember correctly.

My guess is that kimoto is not KDC, but I have a feeling that KDC is/was following Megacoin closely.  Possibly due to MEC's presence on large altcoin exchanges like Cryptsy and btc38.com.  I know that if I tried to build an empire around the 'Mega' brand, and a clever crypto developer created 'Mega' coin, I certainly would take interest in that.

(I expect others to chime in now with reasons there are and aren't connections, have at it  Grin )

Most of us will be honest and tell you there is no connection "as far as we know". I would be the first to admit there are more mysteries surrounding Megacoin than there are facts. This is especially true when it comes to our developer, Dr. Kimoto Chan.

As sharknutzz points out, Kim has at least acknowledged us a few times, sometimes in ways that are nearly as cryptic as our developer.

If you enjoy a high degree of speculation, and unlimited potential, this is a good place to be.

Yesterday I was had a brief discussion with a fellow Megacoin fan about technical analysis vs. seat of the pants feel for market directions.
I think there are quite a few reasons to believe we are in for another Megaquake like we had in 2013. The difference is that the debt from Greece, and Puerto Rico are about 13 times greater than Cyprus, and the for the most part the world economy is far worse than 2013. In 2013 we were still moving forward from the boost of trillions of printed dollars. But the fact is that we now have 40% more debt, and average household wealth has fallen 25%. Poverty rates, and the number of people on welfare and food stamps has increased dramatically. There are more low paying jobs, and technical jobs are paying less and becoming harder to find due to foreign competition. Real inflation is running at least 5 times the government's reported numbers, because they don't take food, energy, and other essentials into the equation. There are those who will debate some of this, and you are welcome to knock yourself out... But there are more and more economists that support what I'm saying, and many predicting a crash of Biblical proportions.

Leading up to the 2013 Crypto rally we saw a similar chart for Megacoin as Cyprus became the subject of financial discussion.

I also noticed as the 2013 rally started ti take shape many more people were mining different new alt-coins and trading them for Bitcoin, Litecoin, Megacoin, and other top coins. I see the same thing happening now. We are also seeing similar volatility, and more profit taking at each peak.

I believe the upside for Crypto will be far better sustained this time because the infrastructure built around it is now hundreds of times stronger than it was in 2013. Also, world governments have run out of resources to patch up the cracks they have only made bigger.

http://www.businessinsider.com/hsbcs-stephen-king-on-the-world-economy-2015-5?google_editors_picks=true

In fact most of the people who predicted the financial crisis last time are saying the same things this time, only worse.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/ron-paul-ads-warn-of-financial-crisis-1432245027

http://www.imd.org/research/challenges/TC060-14-meltdown-2015-arturo-bris.cfm

Here we have an article written in 2011 that predicts 2015 will be the year. I remember people saying the same things before the last two meltdowns, and most people ignored them. So take it for what it's worth, but my bet is we are looking at the biggest crash of all time.

Notice how this went from no trading volume back towards 1M - 2M MEC per day.

This is the daily MEC chart @ btc38.com.

Did you follow the advice you were given? If you have two wallets that are the same, you will likely have problems. In more than 2 years, I don't know anyone who has had this problem. Megacoin is very reliable.

have massive problem.
two days ago i deposited money using megacoin wallet to cryptsy.
just noticed now Status: 0/unconfirmed
two days ago!!
what can I do???
have wallet on two pcs. same wallet.
on main pc i have that unconfirmed trans. on other its not there at all (send transactions)
but i added up deposits and compared to withdraws and amount not confirmed is difference between both.
so at the moment im missing 145 coins.
no trace of it in blockchain explorer.
is there anyway to fix it?

Same wallet on two different computers is not a good idea. Wallet conflicts can occur easily.

Think about this simplified scenario:

You have 4 different public addresses, each of which received 1000 MEC

You then send a transaction from one wallet / computer of 2000 MEC. Only the wallet you send from knows which inputs you used (not technically true, but for the way bitcoin related wallets currently work it is true).

You then go to the other wallet / computer and send 2000 MEC but this wallet uses one or both of the same inputs as the outgoing transaction from the other wallet. It will give you a transaction id as that is created client side.

However this second transaction will never be accepted or confirmed on the block chain as the inputs have already been used / spent (double spend).

It can be complicated to recover from this scenario as your wallet/s think the coins have been spent. Sometimes you will need to dump the private keys and re-import into a new wallet which will then do a totally new scan on the block chain to restore your wallet to its 'real' balance.

Yes! Of course! August 28, 2013!
That was the day I invented time-dilated difficulty gravitational wells. The black holes of difficulty formulas! I remember it vividly.
I was standing on the edge of my toilet about to upload a standard fork, the porcelain was wet, I slipped, hit my head on the sink, and when I came to I had a revelation!
A vision! A picture in my head! A picture of this!

This is what makes time-dilated difficulty formulas possible: the Kimoto Gravity Well! It's taken me nearly sixty six years and my entire family fortune to realize the vision of that day.
KGW = 1 + (0.7084 * pow((double(PastBlocksMass)/double(144)), -1.228));

Marty, we don't have much time, we must release it upon the universe today.
The future of Megacoin depends on it.

People need to know who created this  Smiley

Since my last problem i stopped using wallet on other pc.  Before today transaction i have done two and we're fine. Right now I'm downloading from scratch block chain hopeful this will help

In order to help you, I probably need more information. You said you are just now downloading the blockchain? After downloading the new blockchain, you should shutdown the Megacoin client, and replace the wallet.dat with a backup you made before the problem started.
Did your original coins ever reach Cryptsy? I take it they must have if you were sending more coins...

You can save your wallet.dat file to as many places as you like, but you only want to have one wallet with each specific address.

Let me know what happens after you restore the wallet.

Ok so heres the story.
Mined at coinmine.pw
Moved coins to my wallet.  All good.
Today wanted to move coins to cryptsy.
But not confirmed.  No trace in blockchain.
So then defeated blockchain but no luck.
I worry if i remove everything after backing there won't be trace of it

Did you get rid of the duplicate wallet, and restore a good backup to one wallet?

Nothing that happened on the blockchain can be destroyed. If it happened there is a record. If there is no record, it didn't happen.
That's not to say that some transactions don't show up for a while. But if you have two wallets with the same address, you are asking for trouble.

You have nothing to lose by restoring a wallet with an old .dat file. Anything that happened on that address will always restore.
How long since you sent your coins to Cryptsy? Can you see the transaction in your wallet?
