well there are certainly some stashes out there that are beginning to be worth a considerable amount of money now.

Volume has been steadily increasing along with the price.

Just while I was playing a game of online risk tonight the price went up by 3 cents, back in the top 100... market cvap over 4 million dollars and top 30 in trade volume...

Not bad. If only my wallet would bloody sync.

Might have to get a Mac lol

Definitely some interesting developments. It figures since I recently lost another large chunk of MEC when my phone got zapped (didn't have it backed up).

Did you save the phone?  Seems like there might be a fair chance of recovering the contents of its internal storage.  There is a guy in this forum, username "lightfoot" who I swear could probably fix anything you can plug into a power source.
Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

We can hope, but it is still working, the chinese seem to like it, hashrate is still over 6G and volume is good...

I'm happy with that...

I'm still using the same phone, but it was overwritten with a newer ROM. At the time I thought I had backed up the wallet to a micro SD card, but it turns out the card was used for something else.
It figures it would happen just before a price jump. At least I'm doing my part to make Megacoin more rare.   Embarrassed  Guess I lost faith that the price would recover, so I kept a very large amount of coins on my phone. Hard to believe BTC38 now controls better than 99% of Megacoin volume.

This may be something you are already aware of, but if you've got the storage device that the wallet used to reside on (overwritten, or not) - there is good chance your wallet file is still there.  Think "undelete" back from the old MSDOS days.

Maybe that isn't an option, but I'm certainly holding out hope you get your MEC back.

The BTC38 thing does not surprise me at all, in fact that is the only reason this coin isn't burning in a dumpster somewhere in China  Undecided

Hi guys!

So I sent a transaction last night before my wallet fully synced.

Turns out after examination of the explorer for my wallet address that it was for more than I had available (but the amount that showed in the wallet at the time) so now seems to be stuck in limbo with no confirmations. Is there anything I can do to reverse this transaction and start again? If anyone can help at all that would be amazing!!

The TX id is: ffdcb7d827149ea2ce6b5939709312ce9c2d9d527f4e91c980675e6af75153a2-000
The receiving wallet is: MMzzEE4E81aydiWZkZ7JYDRjuQx7BSwFs9
The sending wallet is: MKYwj7LzzEtRx3VFRzB4aHFhbKPUfm2ZKu

I am on a Mac.

Thanks!

The transaction is still not visible on the block explorers so I think it is just a problem within my client. I have re-installed etc but it is still there, Any ideas on how to delete this transaction from my wallet so I have access to these coins again? unfortunately the things I would do on a btc client don't work (probably obvious but it was worth a try)

Thanks

thats because the whole mining hashrate is from multipools...they are ripping the chain until the difficulty is high and left the chain alone until next round.

the only way to change that is a new hash algorithm.

this coin has no developer and the only one i know, who is able to do this, wont do this for free.

as there is no community which could donate nor someone who is able to spend our devfund, there is no chance to get an update on this coin.

in my opinion kimoto left the project too early.

yeah would have been nice if they had turned over the keys before leaving, makes you wonder what could have been going through their head to do things how they did.

so what is the solution, what is the megacoin community considering doing to solve this problem? maybe a fork? POS?  there has to be something as a viable path before people will even consider going down that path, maybe if we had a group working on ideas for a solution the money would come forward to pay someone to solve this, if it takes that, though I would say we need to maybe have others have a hard look at this too, once done to make sure it is not going to be blamed for being a backdoor to some exchange's cold wallets, like vern tried to do to look innocent in the situation over craptsy.

Rumour has it BTC38 are going to revive this coin and a few others. They are already looking for dev teams and have a tender out

Doesn't mention MEC specifically, but certainly explains it...

Though mec still works well and is enjoying volume... it certainly could do with some TLC...

Hi Guys,
hope everyone is well? many friends in this thread

I still own some mec, not much, actually convinced my gf to buy some couple years back, I made mistake of selling stash for start, go figure lol

here's why I'm bullish, old coin, now in 5th year!
kimoto, one of altcoin's legends, checked in to thread other week, check his profile
alive and well I am glad to see. coin is running fine, wallet syncing fine and still sexy
coin on number of exchanges incl. btc38

megacoin site running smooth and attractive as ever
http://www.megacoin.co.nz/

sites don't just renew domains and hosting themselves, kimoto is doing this.
satoshi bailed and look at btc price, kimoto is still here doing what he needs to

price has been 4000% higher in $usd
so prob 3 times that in btc!

check the richlist, someone owns 18 million mec, ,it has a low supply of coins compared to some alts
it is the btc38 cold wallet, a lot of rich Chinese traders been hoarding the supply
possibly nipping over to other exchanges to snap up megacoin, there's not much around!
https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-megacoin-addresses.html

who knows, but at some point,  this gorgeous coin will have the living shit pumped out of it  Grin

plus more coins than i can list are using the kimoto gravity well invented my megacoin's kimoto which saved many coins from getting screwed by over aggressive mining and dumping and difficulty issues

THIS WILL PUMP .... to the moon

oh and Kimoto, sir, please say hi in thread, it would mean so much. I miss you

I am Bonkers BTW
