The fans are sleeve bearing, so they will spin up faster after the sleeve is worn in which causes them to make more noise. Nothing wrong with them, just couldn't afford putting in 5+ USD ball bearing fans for a $50 miner. Only issue with first batch fans is that they overshot the RPM after sleeve wear-in so they spin closer to 13K RPM instead of 10K. Next batch will have this resolved and should have some extra fans if anyone has one that spins way too fast.

FYI high quality ball bearing replacement for these would be something like this, but as you can see they are not cheap.

https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/sunon-fans/MC25100V2-000U-A99/259-1569-ND/2757806

I'm interested in upgrading the fans for the units I will receive and I see the costs associated with that, these fans are bare wire, what connector and crimp ends are needed to terminate it? I have a digikey account, can you link the pins/connectors?

Thanks.

Its  JST 2.5mm 2 pin connector something like this

https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/XHP-2/455-2266-ND

Not sure about the crimp connector that would fit into that though. Its a pretty standard part so shouldn't be too hard to find.

This helps, thanks.

if I end up getting some Batch 1's with the fan glued on heatsink, can I order the screw type from you?

Thanks, looks like my Pi Christmas Tree maybe taking the power LOL

Do you have the stick plugged directly into the Pi? If so the Pi wont be able to provide enough power for it. Maybe it will work at lowest frequency with voltage turned down alot.

Hi,

I have 3 MoonLander 2s and I think they are great!

But, I'm having problems mining Verge, the landers run fine for an hour or so, then 1 will stop hashing.
The red LED stops firing and the pool hash rate drops.
In BFGMiner it shows as have "Mh/s" but no accepts on that lander.

I've dropped the frequency to 600MHz but it is still happening.
It's not always the same lander.
If I stop and restart BFGminer all is well again for a while.

I'm running Windows Server 2012, with an Anker USB3 hub, 5A PSU.

I've tried other coins, and whilst not perfect they didn't drop out as much as Verge.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Paul

Different ones randomly stopping is quite possibly power. I'd try running only 2 and see if that improves.

I definitely think people are under-estimating how much power these Moonlanders need (when raising frequency)

Waiting for a usb tester to arrive to test out the different frequency presets

I've checked on a USB meter and it's taking 1.5A per Moonlander.
So a 5A hub should be fine for 3 landers....

I'm testing with only 2 in the hub, and have had 1 dropout so far.

What ports are you using on the hub? Is there a regulator that feeds different ones?

1.5A at 600mhz?

Which Anker hub? I have this one, and it won't reliably power 3 of them at high speed, but 2 only are rock solid even at 954mhz.

Mine is VERY similar, I shall try them at 756Mhz with just 2 on the hub.

THANKS!!

It should draw 1A @648MHz perfectly tuned.

I have 2 of these. Does anyone know how to edit whatever needs edited for Windows 10 to run another miner? I have 1 running right now for about 6 days with no problems. I think they’re great!

In addition to this question, can the voltage to the fan be controlled at all? I found some BB fans of appropriate size that start at 3v and run all the way to 7.2v

If I want to add more sticks, do I need to add a worker for each stick? If so how do I add the new workers to the mine?

alright my miner dudes. so I think(fingers crossed) that I finally have a pretty good starting set-up going. so here is my three moonlander 2s running on this usb hub that i bought. it was slightly pricey but i didn't mind as its small but yet very powerful.
http://www.usbgear.com/10PCHGRHUBMINI.html
unfortunately I can only fit up to 6 miners with fans, but definitely can fit 10 without the fans..
after fighting with my mac for about a week..constant help from you guys and other outsiders..and some other speed bumps along the way, even with high sierra, everything is starting to look good..
I would like to thank everyone for their support Kiss
I did want to ask, however, why is it that my other pools are not being deleted upon opening terminal? I delete them, quit(using commands), and exit. then if I start the terminal back up, the old unwanted pools are still there..should I be saving the run MLD2 file even after quitting? also has anyone tried mining other coins? do you use the same pool stratum address set-up as it is for litecoin.org in the .txt file?
thanks, also here are some noobish pics of my set up.. Grin

no. a "worker" would be all the miners connected in your bfgminer terminal..so if you have three miners all connected to your computer one way or another, they will all be connected to one worker, if you are referring to litecoinpool...that's how it works for me anyway

Who got to set the difficulty on the zpool.ca?
Tried this: -o stratum+tcp://scrypt.mine.zpool.ca:3433#xnsub -u <WALLET> -p c=LTC,d=128
But it's not working.
