-329  sucks to be you.

If you think the -329 sucks, check out the rest of the story.

What story?

Mechs is walking along casually and decides to make a paper wallet. Mechs gets bored with said paper wallet and throws it into the dumpster.

Mechs is walking along casually with a significant amount of money invested in just-dice. One day, a whale named nakowa comes along and makes mechs lose a bunch of money on his investment. Mechs decides to withdraw his deposit out of frustration.

Turns out, Mechs withdraws his deposit of over 1600 BTC to the paper wallet he threw out. After spending a while in despair, Mechs decides that he might as well literally dumpster dive to search for the paper wallet, and whaddayano he actually finds the thing. Mechs decides to take this newfound old money and gamble it on just-dice in a euphoria laced moment after he found the wallet. With alot of luck, Mechs turns his 1600-1700 btc into I think like 7000 BTC. Mechs then decides to gamble all of his money (7000) at 96% odds, a gamble that he loses.

edit: oh by the way this was when bitcoins were at around 100 bucks a pop, meaning that the 7000 BTC was "only" worth 700K at the time. If he had kept the 7k instead of gambling Mechs would have 7 million bucks lying around.

I disagree, but oh well, I have gambled before, so I guess that is the gambler speaking.

Gambling is a negative EV activity. Therefore the highest EV is 0 with 0 wagered.

This unless you call Poker gambling like some people seem to do. Then it will totally depend on your skill and emotional stability.

Well, I have made quite a lot playing Roulette. I always withdraw my initial deposit as soon as I win something. That way I won't lose it. Also I withdraw a part of my winnings every time I hit a certain threshold, plus I stop playing when I hit a streak or lose twice.
Because of all those things I have made quite a buck, but most people just crack and try to get their losses back, which result in more losses.

You're just underestimating volatility (don't worry, almost everyone does). It's impossible to turn a series of -EV bets into a +EV bet by arranging them in any order or sizing them in any way.

This is by far the best dice gambling site

Reasons :

- Chat is active and full of good people
- Dooglus is a great guy and always helpful
- Its fair and so easy to use
- SO MANY MORE.....

The only thing I would change is if they have more promotional offers like the signatures and contest etc....

Since you asked! Smiley http://just-dice.blogspot.ca/2013/11/must-read-more-details-and-rules-and.html

And that is the ending of a sad story. He was a gambler who didn't knew when to quit.

The time to quit gambling is before you start.

This.

I don't want to be mean, but pure luck is why made quite a buck Smiley (enjoy it though)
Must be a shitload of luck then, because I have been doing this for months. Oh well Roll Eyes

If you play long enough to a -EV game, you will lose. Always. That's pure hard math, and anything else a delusion.

Hey Doog,

I got locked out of my account due to having tried the Auth code too many times incorrectly.

My authenticator's clock seems properly synced and I can access all my other accounts with it except "zipmaster" on JD for some reason. I am currently logged in on my phone from earlier today but whenever I try investing/divesting and get asked for the auth code it's the same problem all over again. Could you look into it please?

Thanks.

Rookie question that is probably one of the stupidest of the day.

I am a current investor in the bank, I would love to invest more but there I am scared to increase my investment.

Simply put: What makes Just-Dice a safe place to store Bitcoins?

More possibly unnecessary details:
I understand as the bank, the risk I can loose Bitcoins or make Bitcoins but assuming a long term commitment and a 1% house edge that is not a concern.
1) What will stop the site owners from running off with the Bitcoins?
2) What will stop the site from getting hacked or depositing Bitcoins in a site\server that gets hacked.
3) What will stop a government from shutting down the website and seizing all assets as it is a (presumably) unregulated gambling site?
4) Are there any other reliable, trustworthy gambling sites (pref not another dice site) out there that let you make money from the bank and have enough customers to make it a real proposition? I have seen Ice-Dice and bitcoinsports.eu but my gut instict has suggested I should not invest in either.

I am not saying 1 & 2 are likely (Doog seems like a really great guy on the forums, I made a gut investment and whilst I trust my gut I did loose Bitcoins when Bitmarket.eu went down) but... the history of Bitcoin investments and online wallets suggests that for ever 1 legit investment there are 3 to 5 that disappear owing Bitcoins, possibly after partially refunding, possibly after no refunds at all.

1) Nothing.
2) Nothing.
3) Nothing.
4) I don't know. Check out the "Securities" and "Gambling" boards for more info.

1) 2) 3) Using a trusted third party from this forum and depositing the coins (possibly in chunks) using multisig transactions.

I'm not recommending it, on the contrary I would be opposed to it because of the overhead and the limited liquidity. Just wanted to point out that you could overcome them to some degree.

Hi.

It's generally better to email the address at the end of the FAQ about such things.  It will open a support ticket where we can sort the problem out privately.  But I see you did that too, so I'll answer you there.

I just took 50 Bitcoins out of my Just-Dice investment.  Back when that was $5,000 it wasn't that big a deal.  But now that it is $50,000 I feel that the risk is too much.

I still have a few hundred left in the investment but I am seriously going to reduce it.  Just as soon as I can get over the idea of making more money off of other gamblers.

Just-Dice was really profitable for me initially.  I was up over 40 bitcoins at once.  Then nakawa brought me down 30 bitcoins.  Months later and I am barely even.  I am making money very slowly now that the purse is so large.

50,000 bitcoins = 50 million dollars is way too much money for this service.

I lost my early adopter advantage by placing some bets myself.  I really regret this.  I lost what I can afford, about 15% of my total stake, but if I hadn't lost it I would feel much better.

I'm really looking forward to being out of this all together.  I guess this message is just part of the weaning process.  Really, you find your self with a substantial share of a million dollars and you invest it with a cool internet gambling dude?  Why don't I just get out completely?  Of at least go back to investing just a few thousand dollars?
