Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Lucky you, I lost 10 CLAMS. Maybe I should invest some more.

After dental won, there was some discussion about how the "offsite investment" works.

When setting your /offsite amount, the highest you can set it to is 99 times your current onsite amount, such that your total is 100 times your onsite amount.

If the site then loses big enough that your total becomes 200 times your onsite amount, or more, then your offsite amount is automatically set to zero, since you are no longer able to risk a maximum-profit win.

One investor was surprised to hear about this "forced /offsite 0" rule, and said he would be very unhappy if it ever happened. And so I thought I should mention it here.

It is described in the site's FAQ tab, in an example:

Quote
Suppose you have 1000 coins. You could send them to your deposit address and invest them all. You would now be entrusting your whole 1000 coins to Just-Dice, with the associated risks. Alternatively, you could deposit just 100 of them, invest them, and then tell the site "I have 900 more coins that I want to invest". You keep those coins safe in your own wallet, but they are counted as part of the Just-Dice bankroll. Your share of the bankroll and your share of the site's profits and losses is the same as if you had invested your whole 1000 coins. If the site should have a run of bad luck such that your 100 coins shrinks and you can no longer afford to sustain a single maximum profit loss, your 900 "offsite" coins will be forgotten about. Your investment will then be whatever remains of your initial 100 coin deposit. In that way you can never get into debt with the site.

In that example, where you start off with 100 CLAMs onsite and 900 offsite, your 100 CLAM onsite investment would need to shrink to 900/199 = 4.53 CLAM before the forced divest happened.

If you were using the maximum offsite amount, starting with 10 CLAMs onsite and 990 offsite, then your 10 CLAM investment would only need to shrink to 990/199 = 4.97 CLAM for you to have your offsite amount forced to 0.

aka he is a good dice player

That sounds like there is some art to it. Roll Eyes

The only thing you might warn about can be big bets, since those have the potential to move the house alot. That might be a warning, but not that he is a good player.

His all-time profit chart:

Does this graph say that he did that the second time? Oo There is a similar spike in the middle. Though he lost it all fast again it seems.

Sounds to me like he would have read it wrong, like i did the first time too, that your investment is set to zero. That would be hard. Though i don't see a big problem with the offsite. You would see that you lost alot anyway so it won't go unnoticed.

The only reason against that might be that it "could" be harder to reclaim your losses then. But it would be very hard anyway. Though an advantage against investors that did not lose might not be bad.

Yeah I understand the margin call feature. If you reach 199x then you get 'force liquidated' in trading terms. And you just get back the rest of the collateral.

It seems like good idea, but I think that Canadian laws are still the same about gambling with BTC.

That will not happen, at least not yet, that i am sure about. If it happened "CLAM" would be pretty much destroyed along with all the people invested in it. The losses would be way too big for everyone involved with JD. The Shitestorm would be too big.
Only way it could happen is if JD allowed to pay with both CLAM and BTC. But that would also most likely still crush CLAM to a point of no return.

You wrong, i think that if doog reopens btc jd (which i doubt) he would just open another site like dd or create clamdice... do you forgot that clams stake ? Most of the investors are in calm cuz of that, also staking profit is about twice the investing profit.... its not true that clam is up just because jd but its true that jd made clam "famous". Thats what i think maybe im wrong.

Well actually, the price of Clam has already been destroyed, by the digger who has already dug more than 100,000 Clam, and has been dumping them on Polo. The price of Clam is well below where most JD players and investors bought them. If anyone was sensible they would of cashed out some Clam when the price was higher.

I dont believe the digger did a real damage, price is slowly driven down but you see that people is willing to buy bulk, everyone is so damn skeptical and i dont know how to get all those cheap damn clammies.

What happened with the just-dice thread? Oo It looks like dead. No post since a month. Did the digger make damage to just-dice?

I wonder what would happen if the fork get's agreed on. Clam would turn into the average altcoin without the additional twist. Gaming coin, ok, but a big part of it's charm would be lost. I wonder what the effect on just-dice would be.

Though i guess it's no good to think about unbroken eggs. Cheesy
