Hey.

Risks:

* Someone might get lucky and win a significant chunk of it; it has happened in the past, and we didn't fully recover yet.  House profit is only 0.38% of wagered, when the edge (and so expected profit) is 1%
* I could be running a scam, waiting for the cold wallet to reach my target amount and then run off.  I won't, but you can't know that.
* I have access to the server seeds.  It means I can bet under a false name whenever I choose, and know my rolls ahead of time.  I can slowly bleed the bankroll dry and you'll think it's just bad luck (see point 1).  I only ever play under the name 'dooglus', and then only for small stakes, and never look to see what my rolls are going to be ahead of time.  But again, you have to take my word for that.
* The server could be compromised and an attacker could gain access to the seeds.  See previous point.
* The 'lucky' number generation code could be found to be predictable, allowing players to win.
* I could get hit by a bus and have the cold wallet passphrase die with me.
* Probably more that I'm not thinking of.

The servers are regularly backed up and kept updated with the latest security patches.  In the event of shutdown by government, I'll refund balances to your emergency withdrawal address (set it in the 'account' tab).  In the event of my death, an encrypted message will be dispatched to trusted third parties giving them the required codes and instructions to refund balances.

How does this work?  I've know people who have died and they stop functioning immediately.  How do you send a message after death?  Would it work if your in a coma or if your kidnapped, lost in the desert, develop Alzheimer, wife won't let you out, get arrested, etc.?

Or a timer you have to reset regularly. If the timer hasn't been reset in some days, assume the guy is dead, and send the email.

This really is the best idea.  To auto-send balances to the emergency withdrawal address from the cold wallet if the timer is not reset.  Should be a long enough time, like 1 month to prevent accidental mass withdrawals. How this would actually be implemented without being reliant on a susceptible server which could be shut down by authorities though I do not know.

It's automatically sent if I don't provide evidence of being alive for a preset period of time.  So all the above cases would be equivalent to being dead.  It does mean investors have to wait for the preset time period to expire.  The duration of that depends upon which of my trusted third parties die / get kidnapped / develop Alzheimers with me, since the messages will be released to each in turn at staggered delays.

I'm being vague on purpose.  Sometimes security through obscurity is good.

"auto-send" and "cold wallet" don't really fit together very well.  If it's possible to access a wallet without human interaction then it's not "cold".  There needs to be a trusted human involved in the process, to walk the keys across an air-gap.

There was an issue where 90 investors couldn't view their investment log on the history tab.  It's fixed now.

So I should probably give a little detail.

Originally I keep a running total of how much each investor had invested and divested.  This made it impossible to provide "investment profit" info in real time.

So a few weeks ago I went through the list of investors and added a "principal" field to each of their invest/divest log entries.  Then I could show principal in the investment report, and show live investment profit/loss.

Yay.

Then yesterday someone on the chat asked me why the investment log button was broken.  That was the first I had heard of it.  It turned out that he had invested before I added the "principal" field, then fully divested, and was no longer in the investor list when I made the change.  So his log entries (and those of 89 other investors who had since fully divested with a profit) weren't fixed.

When he reinvested, his principal started being counted from 0, although it should have been negative (he'd divested more than he had invested).  So I just went and fixed all those log entries.

As a result those 90 users will now be seeing a slightly high "profit on investment" statistic, since it now includes profits from before they fully divested.
