Can someone explain the reason behind the ongoing price fall?

From the very beginning of the year the price seems to fluctuate in a larger margin. After a short the price once again retained the value. Today it is getting close to the $10000 mark with most of the altcoins too getting displayed with a red mark. I don't have an understanding about the real fact, it would be better if someone one give a clear description it will help me come out of panic.
