Hey guys, I wrote a short blog on steemit about my thoughts on Straks.

Also, I think the Straks developers are doing a good job under difficult circumstances, and really hope the project will be a success. I've also learned what the name 'SkankHunt' was likely referencing, so at least I've learned one new thing today.

I think the problem with this project from the start was the swap idea. Why assimilate yourself with some dead coin?

Just one man's opinion: the MN req is still way too high.  There are less than 10,000 STAK available on coinsmarkets and stocks.exchange combined.  So even if you wanted to pay the extremely high prices to buy out the entire sell-side orders, you would still be left with not enough for a 15,000 MN collateral.  MNs won't create any incentive to invest if such investment is impossible.  Again, just my 2 cents.

Try to place a buy-order they arent tied to what straks amount are there for sale.

Maybe someone will bite and sell them to you "cheap" but I suppose everyone knows the real value and tries to build up enough for a masternode by mining and keeping.

That's fair.  And also I know the dev team sells STAK every now and then, which helps supply.  But I think my general point is still valid, that either MN collateral needs to go down or, alternatively, more liquidity and supply is still needed.  Otherwise the MNs will fall into the hands of very few people and over-concentration of ownership is never good for a currency.

Perhaps getting the next exchange listing will help, I know that's what dev team raised funds for last round.

Yea they are working non stop on negotiations.

Which I would do aswell , because with current BTC prices the listing fees are just insane..

Exchanges need to adapt to the BTC price in my opinion.

Yes it's kind of outrageous that medium-sized exchanges expect to get thousands or tens of thousands of dollars for listings, when they have terrible service and do a bad job of adapting ot wallet updates.

Yeah I agree, just did the math on cryptopia listing and it would be around the $100,000 mark in USD (or around 5 btc) just to get a listing. You see some of the old dead coins up there on and surely something new would be much better placed, and would be better for cryptopia as well.

$100 GRAND TO LIST A COIN?  Geez.  The only thing these guys have going for them is trust - people trust them because they've been around, so users know they won't be scammed there.  Otherwise, it should be trivial for someone to launch an exchange with the same features as cryptopia and charge 1/4 as much to list.

I don't get the economics of this.  You'd think an exchange would WANT more listings so that they get the trading fees.

Daily trade volume is 0.38 btc. Its about 10K straks. So if you want you may buy 15K coins for 2-3 day on middle price.

U had more then enough time to get those 15k. Put 4000 satoshi buy order and wait. Also you could mine, diff is quite low.

Greetings, friends at Straks!

As Komodo Platform has been working around the clock to fine-tune the multiple GUI's that are the face of our Agama multiwallet and BarterDEX atomic swap protocols, there have obviously been many bugs found and many debugged. However, one bug in particular was found not only in our Agama GUI wallet, but also in the zcash4mac GUI swing wallet. It is a simple bug, but it warrants your attention. This is a potential money cost bug, and as a Bitcoin-protocol cryptocurrency, your GUI wallet(s) may be susceptible. We are reaching out directly to the developers and communities of the 60+ coins featured on Agama and BarterDEX as the bug may have a direct impact on you (via your own wallet).

watchonly-GUI bug: 'watchonly' addresses appearing as your own in GUI wallet; users could potentially send funds to the address, unaware it is not theirs or available for withdrawal. You can import <any address> and it becomes a 'watchonly' address. The GUI will display the address as yours, add its funds to your balance, and accept deposits, but cannot be withdrawn. This could be a normal address, my address, a p2sh address, satoshi's address, etc. This can be confusing to an end-user and will lead to many headaches for the developer, as is always the case with misplaced funds.

FOUND: in Komodo Platform's Agama multiwallet (fixed) and zcash4mac GUI swing wallet (@jl777B: "newest QT wallet seems ok about watch only, but not sure of older and when it was fixed")

ex. @grewalsatinder found the bug in his zcash swing wallet: https://i.imgur.com/sVd0QTL.png

Quote from: jl777B
"satinder used zcash4mac, ie. the zcash osx GUI, not ours... the assumption is no GUI out there properly handles watch only addresses, until proven that they do... agama also had this bug, which we found and fixed, so it seems a very common bug to have"

SOLUTION: For the 'watchonly' address or any address not yours, the value 'ismine' returns false. Any such address gets filtered out.

QUESTIONS:
  • How does your recommended GUI deal with watchonly addresses?
  • Does your GUI display watchonly addresses as different than actual addresses in the wallet?

We need to experiment a bit to see which approach gets a better response triggering the bug. People WILL lose money if they send funds to a watchonly address.

Quote from: jl777B
"the t3 addresses in the 'Own Addresses' column! and they absolutely cant be as they are p2sh addresses. it is clear proof that the bug is very real and anybody that understands a p2sh address will understand it cant be something in your wallet. it is usually a multisig address, so only if it is a 1of1 multisig (possible but very silly) can you have a p2sh address that is spendable, but the wallet wont even know it... normal addresses can also be watchonly, which makes this even worse. in that case it would appear in the list of addresses just like all the others. even if you are able to spot p2sh addresses visually, it wont be enough"

We want to spread awareness and facilitate discussion of this bug to minimize the impact.

Of course - we can always talk about how you can use BarterDEX today to trade Straks via atomic swap directly with your peers, through our beta GUI and without downloading the entire blockchain ; ) That is how we found the bug, afterall.

Stay safe,
Jay

Hey guys, I wrote a short blog on steemit about my thoughts on Straks.

Also, I think the Straks developers are doing a good job under difficult circumstances, and really hope the project will be a success. I've also learned what the name 'SkankHunt' was likely referencing, so at least I've learned one new thing today.

https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@hassy/straks-any-future-or-will-it-be-another-signatum

Thanks cryptovore for pointing out a few things on steemit for the blog. On holiday at the moment so can't type out a proper response yet on steemit, so that all the info is together.

Main point is that I understand your team is not affiliated with signatum developer skankhunt etc at a development level, and I dont think the post says that, but involved more at a community level. Also I agree that the swap done properly is a positive for sigt holders, and can help bring that community over to straks.

It's definitely great for the community that you guys are being proactive on communication, like responding to steemit posts Smiley
