Help, scam or not?

Hi guys, someone has just messaged me on facebook asking if i wanted to learn more about bitcoin... I don't know much but this seems a bit dodgy to me, so I've come to this forum for your guys thoughts? Here are the messages she sent me

HER:

We are giving people the opportunity to come and be educated about bitcoin for 30 mins in our office and chesterfield and in return we will give you a free lunch at wether spoons for 2 people x
Is it something you'd be interested in?

Sounds good so far, may I ask why you are giving people this opportunity?x

HER:

To educate people and make them know what bitcoin is about. We mine bitcoin so you can make money easy. I have a wallet for my little boy it's easy money xx
Crypto currency is the way forward. And bitcoin will be worth 10,000 a coin soon. So rather than buying bitcoin s you can mine them xx

I'm kind of familiar with mining, although I've heard I'd spend more money on electric keeping a miner running than I would make bitcoin?x

familiarize yourself of the definition of a scam home boy. Are they asking you for money? membership? if you're curious just go with an empty pocket.

You can really only make money mining bitcoin if you have a cheap source of electricity. Ask where they are mining. Definitely not in UK.

Maybe the best way to know what is scam and what is not is auditing? There are too many scams on ICO nower days, maybe there is should be some accounting projects?

I cannot think of anything else it could possibly be other than a Ponzi scheme or something very, very risky for some other reason. That could, of course, mean it's something so strange that I can't think of it. But I know of no other explanation that makes any sense for someone to share his profitable business with total strangers.

That being said, did someone mention a free lunch?

bitcoin is very helpful, especially in finance.
there is no element of deception at all. why can I say like that?
because bitcoin has been proven by some of my colleagues here. unfortunately, i'm just going to start and learn about bitcoin today, if only from the first, maybe have changed my purchasing power thanks to bitcoin

I think that they might be from a cloud mining firm.Its just my guess.You could just contact them and ask them actually what it is they are offering and whether  they need any initial deposit for it.If they ask for initial deposit,better stay away from them.You better learn about bitcoin first and then you would get an idea about which could be a legit offer and which could not be.

I personally think that this would be a bad idea to go to,  but make your own decision op,  It could be legit (but who in their right mind would give out free stuff tbh),  but I'm thinking they might want something out of you or to hurt you.

If you do have some doubts and questions on mind. Why not try to go on and meet them. Just ask them  on the thing you do want to know and see it for yourself if they do really have mining farm not just on bluffing out that they are profitable on mining as of now. If you can see a farm which do resides near on your place i would say its not a bad idea or scam since they can really show off on what they are trying to offer on here but the thing here is that mining isnt profitable nowadays and if you do plan to invest then be ready for a longer ROI for sure.

I worked in a call center previously and we used the words 'completely free no obligation assessment' quite often, and it would end up with the person on the other end of the line losing a chunk of their pension

That is undoubtedly something to say to a random person it is like a networking kind of scheme they will need your cooperation then the time and effort you can give them might be something that for their future success but in a random thing like this it will all end up in a scam section and more than anything you know they can get bitcoin from your wallet.

I'd agree with everyone else who said this is probably a scam--it sure as hell sounds like one to me, and anyone who's spent more than a few days in the world of bitcoin knows that scammers outnumber honest people about 3:1. 

So don't go for it OP, don't even respond.  They'll probably rob you at gunpoint, or at the very least make you pay for lunch. None of the possible outcomes are appealing IMO.

It seems as a scammy cloud mining investment option. There are many people invested in these of cloud sites and lose 0.03 or sometime even more also.
If you want check the scam or whether that is scam or not. It is purely best place this forum will give clear information to understand it.

Based on my opinion on what is going on there, I don't see it as a scam yet because I have attended a bitcoin introduction gathering before and it was all  about meeting people and all fun which I enjoyed there was a lot of food and drinks at the venue as well. Although, everything discussed is something I already know but getting to know about other people into bitcoin is something I see as an opportunity.

At the point where you need to start getting worried is where the issue of security is of concern or if the cost of getting to the venue is too much on your part and finally if they start telling you to invest in something you have not seen and promising excessive returns. In short the summary of the matter is that the moment they are promising what is likely not to be true, then its surely a scam.

Seems very much like a scam. They might brain wash you by showing some number and profits unimaginable. They will probably ask you for an initial investment to get the mining rigs, blah blah. Better safe than sorry.

Scams are becoming more and more sophisticated so from the looks of it, sounds definitely a scam for me. It is the first time I see they openly setting up scams in Facebook. This is risky because if many people report them the police can find them easily. It is different when people scam through a cloud mining scam, they don't expose themselves but here you have a chance to catch the offender.

A good idea would be to go with many friends of yours there just in case and check for yourself.

Hey man they offering you lunch in exchange for half an hour of your time I say go for it. They not asking for money yet. Tell them you won't invest without actual proof the miners exist. If they can actually take you to the miners so you can lytrally touch them then I say go for it definitely. If they have excuses as to why they cannot show you the miners or even a video of them then stay faraway.

It depends brother if you know her its okay to trust because you know her but if she is strangers and chat ta you then thunk carefully. Sometimes each of us was going to paranoid and think too much about one thing bu t if we dont think too much maybe wr regret what have we done someday because as of now there are many scams and not legit in the online job they eant you to trust them an makes salestalk but in the end after steal your money they left you.

Obviously a scam, almost everyday I receive the same thing like you OP, messaged me on facebook and twitter about a trick or tips to earn bitcoins easily. I always ignore them, because in the end he/she will ask you to invest or buy something. Just ignore and block that scammer.

It's indeed a scam mate dont be fooled by flowering words they give to you because if you will be victim by them you yourself will also be the one to suffer. Potential scams are easy way to detect and by your case it is really a scam because they didn't even give you a spec detail of what you'll do vut just lunch thing.

If not, I think you should feel free to go (with someone, as she offers) and see what she has to offer. Maybe, nothing else than wasting 2 hours, maybe something better!

I do not think that ICO project audit is a strictly need thing. Our world is full of stupid people who are ready to invest in a beautiful picture or video. Nobody think of losses. But they are predictable in case of project does not have a normal audit report. There are some companies who can do that.

first, find out about him, he's offer made sense or not. find info about the related business run, and then disconnect comunication if indicated hyip and harming or investasi with high risk , please be careful with the offer on fb, they are just hyip with potentially scams. if you want to invest , search info about investment and mining trusted in subforum bitcointalk .

It would possibly be a scam if they would solicit or ask for your money as a membership fee or a starting investment because they dont really need to chat and just educate others about Bitcoin for free. And if they are really a group starting their own company of Bitcoin, it might be their start to gather members. But still, focus on what they are really up to. Asking is free.

Based on my opinion on what is going on there, I don't see it as a scam yet because I have attended a bitcoin introduction gathering before and it was all  about meeting people and all fun which I enjoyed there was a lot of food and drinks at the venue as well. This sounds just like a timeshare scam. They trick people to going into a meeting for "30 minutes" but it ends up being a few hours and then if you leave early you do not even get paid. I would not go to this "meeting" if I were you.
