Why is GlobalCoin growing so much? With the expected events from 1-4 June 2017?

Does someone follow this section? Where are the working links on the first page on the official website and the wallets' version of the software compiled for users? When will we see the code changes and the moving to the new algo and POS version?

It looks very strange when a coin has a capitalization of 1.5 million dollars http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/globalcoin/#markets and there is no support at all.

which release is the problem 1.53 or 1.54 ?

i have 1.53 and all works fine. But Yobit stopped GLC trading yesterday (maintainence status) because they want to "update" their wallet. But there s no new code (1.54 is old too) .
Can someone explain the problem with some details please.

Best Regards

Use the 1.5.3 wallet
 - block explorer, pools and exchanges use this currently

https://github.com/GlobalcoinProject/Globalcoin/releases

1.5.4 is compatible with the 1.5.3 chain but is bugged
- client/daemon hangs upon receiving RPC commands - rendering it useless for exchanges and pools

1.5.5 is now on another chain
- Included several fixes and updates by Griffith (great) but incurred a hard fork set for a months time, all users needed to swap over before April 1st, however the exchanges, pools and explorer did not update.
- The original developer did not merge Griffth's new code until May! This version is effectively defunct, different blocks and transactions since April 1st which are not valid on the 1.5.3 chain.
Quote
You just merged code (1.5.5) that had a date based lock in and exclusion, this fork date was over a month ago.. there's now two chains because of this. Exchange and explorer have been on the 1.5.3 chain and remain on it, anyone that compiles the latest source will be on the 1.5.5 chain which is defunct. You need to re-adapt the code with a new date for activation, update with checkpoints from the 1.5.3 chain and then have exchanges and explorer update before the new lock in...

YoBit is using @DigitalHoldings source code, which is version 1.5.3 (@DigitalHoldings code is from and merged to @GlobalcoinProject), same goes for the blockchain explorer https://chainz.cryptoid.info/glc/

Yes, current situation is sort of a mess. I suppose 1.5.3 (and 1.5.4) are the winning chain. Kind of a shame since 1.5.5 was a nice update but no one is using it. To make matters worse the original source was update to 1.5.5 but still no one has switched. Doing so now produces problems for the exchanges as all transactions would not have occurred on 1.5.5.

What to do?

i can push the 1.55 fork time back another few months so people need to update before say... august 1st (and rename it 1.56)? then spread the message to the exchanges and explorer with an updated github link for them to update.
this would require everyone running  1.55 to go back to 1.53, resync, and upgrade to 1.56 from there. that could work.

orrr we can accept that the source will never get updated/upgraded XD

I know you don't want to take over this project but any chance of getting the person able to accept code changes do so in a timely manner? If you change the code but the source is not updated right away we will be in the same situation we are now.

Another problem is getting someone to inform everyone (exchanges/miners) of an upcoming fork and moving to it before it occurs. Ultimately, we simply don't have a leader for this coin. Perhaps we should not do anything until we do?

i suppose you could have them look to the github i was updating instead of the one the dev has posted. the only problem with this is sites (YOBIT) never update anything. and i think that is the primary exchange for GLC rn. so that doesnt look good on that end. i suppose i can PM the OP though.

i will post about the response. if they agree to change it, i guess we could make a new thread if you want to run one CartmanSPC so that someone can keep the OP updated. its just a thought

Support answer:

Deposit\\Withdrawal coin will be available after you upgrade the source code of the wallet. Unfortunately the developers are in no hurry to send you updates
- therefore, in order to avoid the loss of users, the network is not available.
If you have updated the source code of the coin, send us (https://yobit.net/en/maintenance_request/ Free)and we will promptly correct the problem on the coin.
Thank you for contacted the support.

I think that this is equivalent to the phrase - the developers or owners of a large number of coins do not want to become rich people. They like the uncertainty and low prices for GLC  Undecided

Those devs are really weird. No communication with community, OW looks half-assed. The wallet is still 1.5.3 (which is pretty good though), only one exchange is available but it's on permanent maintenance.

Yobit GLC wallet is no longer in maintenance, make sure you are using the 1.5.3 wallet when sending/withdrawing funds.
