Because it's extreme? Aesthetically, it has a full HDMI port instead of a mini and it looks like there is a slightly bigger vent on the expansion port. It looks like it has a slightly different circuit board. I know this has been discussed elsewhere, but I doubt there is much of a performance difference. Still not a bad buy at $130.

Why does this one cost $20 more than the other one?

From looking at the actual Sapphire site on these 2 variations of what is seemingly the very same card the only difference I can determine is the
SAPPHIRE TriXX Utility is included with the Xtreme edition. They gave you that to tweak it but left the clocks the same out of the box.  Pretty sure you can download that software for free... ;p

On their site if you compare the 2 side by side they list the Xtreme has being Shader model 4.1 and the regular one as being the newer 5.0. weirdness.
Also the regular has 2x DVI and one on the regular.

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.

As far as I can tell, performance-wise they are the same.  Funny the regular 5830s had an ETA of 07-04-11, but the Xtremes came in stock and the regular 5830's now have the ETA removed from their page.  I wonder if this is just a marketing thing to charge more and they are going to drop the regular 5830's?

They've been in and out of stock for the last few days too. Seems pretty random.

The xtreme version is still in stock and its been thirty minutes. Maybe they got a real shipment of them?

At this difficulty level with this exchange rate a 5830 will never pay for itself.  Hence why I'm not buying any, and probably also why not a lot of other people are either, and thus why they're still in stock.

So, you're saying that people are going to stop buying mining hardware all together?  Or is there another video card set up that can get you 1-1.2ghs for ~$450-500 ?

Just be quiet and agree with him, less competition for you =).

It's a little confusing, but BOTH the Sapphire 5830 cards are the Xtreme versions.

The $109.99 card comes in a box labeled "Xtreme", and easily clocks to 1000 MHz with the TriXX utility. Me and a friend ordered these, and are loving them (we get up to 330 Mhash/s, stable).

The $129.99 (+ $7.56 shipping) card also comes in a box labeled "Xtreme".

The only differences I know of is that the $129 card has a full-sized DisplayPort connector, while the $109 card has the Mini-DisplayPort adapter (like a Mac).

Honestly, the $109.99 card seems like the better deal. It is $27 cheaper than the other one, and has a more-common Mini-DisplayPort port. I already have adapters for that since I work with a bunch of Macs.
I haven't seen anything other than the DisplayPort size on the $129 card that makes it any better.

Well, now the $110 one is listed as deactivated. Again. And now they put $7.56 shipping on it. Thanks for all the RMA's guys...

$137.56 shipped one is still there if you're into that.
