Best to just wait for units to be shipped and the review. Better to not place any new orders first until all that occurs. It is not like mining is making much profit now. No hurry.

Halong Mining claims that the DragonMint is "the worlds [sic] most efficient Bitcoin miner, operating at 16TH with AsicBoost technology inside for greater power efficiency...."
I decided to do the math and concluded that Halong Mining's claim is true as it relates to power efficiency. The DragonMint is 3.47% more power efficient than the AntMiner S9.
The DragonMint T1 consumes 1480 watts and achieves 16 Th/s. 16 / 1480 = 0.010810811
The AntMiner S9 consumes 1340 watts and achieves 14 Th/s. 14 / 1340 = 0.010447761
The difference in Th/watt efficiency is calculated as: 0.010810811 - 0.010447761 = 0.00036305
The percent increase in improved performance (measured in terms of Th/watt) from that of the S9 to the T1 is calculated as: 0.00036305 / 0.010447761 = 0.034749035 0.034749035 / 100 = 3.47%
However, let's compare prices. Right now, you'll pay $980 more for a DragonMint T1 over the cost of an AntMiner S9. That's a 53% premium over the cost of an S9.
Current price for the AntMiner S9 (including PSU) is $1864.00.
Current price for the DragonMint T1 (including PSU) is $2844.00.
Is a 3.47% increase in hashing power efficiency justified by paying a 53% higher price over the S9? How efficient is that? You decide.

I got a postal tracking number today that may be the dragon mint or not.
as for price 2800 needs to go lower.
IIRC the Nov. black friday price was 1500 or less
bitmain dropped s-9 price avalon dropped 841 price
got to figure the dragon mint will drop price.

My gut feeling tells me they wont drop it. If they go into a price war with bitmain, they will not win. They have 3 other different algo machines already, of which the decred miner that doesnt compete with bitmain, can be sold for the highest price. It is not like they can sell much now that sha256 algo has been flooded. Sha256 used to make more than Litecoin algo and now it makes less.

I disagree sandal_hat. I think they will have to drop the price. Basic marketing dictates that. If all your competitors are dropping prices and you're the only one not doing so. You'll go out of business soon. A price war is inevitable at this point. This sort of reminds me of 2015 to be honest. Don't worry, time will tell if Dragonmints will be around.

Yeah, Bitmain is gonna dump prices big time, IMHO. If it is a price war, Bitmain will win. they made a lot of $$$ on scrypt-pow mining and not shipping for 4 months...doubled the difficulty..I expect the same type of games on a NEW Sha-256 Miner by them....there will be a price war...so unless, I'm missing some deep pockets, I too believe that dragonmint prices must also drop or they will 'retire' from the field of battle... IF I was dragonmint....I'd drop the prices soon and get them out the door in a couple weeks..only the fleet of foot works for them ..being much smaller than Bitmain.....if they can turn the price down and get stuff out the door in 2 weeks then Bitmain will not have everything their way for once and MAYBE dragonmint could garner some units out the door in mass for say 4-6 weeks, and disrupt Bitmain's usual schedule of mining first and ship later.... on pre-orders anyway, we will see I guess

Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

Sometimes it's better to make a little less on your units when you're new... it's more important to grab market share and exposure. Once you're established maybe you can earn a premium. If you can show you're worth it.

By right no more asics should not even be sold because ROI is way too long considering the risks involved. There is a limited amount to be earned as there is a limited amount of btc released every 10mins. A price war would mean dragon lose, period. The other loser are all miners. It is the same reason why there are alot more D3 although inno dash miner is twice as strong. U cant beat bitmain on cheaper per TH basis. If price war occurs, the S9/T1 will be sold for less and less from 2k all the way to 550usd which is D3 price now...and no winner along the way. Right now, those who bought the S9 at 2k to 2k+ are already regretting because it would be far better if they bought the S9 now at 1.6k ish rather than at 2k ish. The thing is u think that u have an advantage if it goes into a price war and u get a machine cheaper, say 300-400 dollars lower? Nope. Everyone thinks the same and will buy. So, difficulty goes higher. And then machines can be sold cheaper again, say another 300 dollars lower? And more buyers come in, and same cycle repeats. This exact problem happened with the D3. It was sold at 5k, then 3k, then 2+k and then 1.45k....no one broke even because difficulty is too high and ROI is impossible. I hope history does not repeat itself here.. With mostly 3 players for sha255, this is an oligopoly. Usually the leader sets the mkt price and the rest follows. They dont compete because they know custlmers only have 3 choices and there is limited demand. They keep prices at a certain level and make more money from higher margins though they sell less. If they kill it by selling at 550usd per miner lIke D3, they make say a 100-200 usd per miner? It is far better to sell less miners at say 1.6k-2k per miner but make 1-1.5k profit per miner. Then again, this crypto landscape isnt exactly filled with big experienced companies. So, nothing is for certain what can occur. Just my 2cents.

Just to let you know, Efficiency number you have there are just in perfect conditions, or in paper. For example, WhatsMiner M3 with original power supply can draw 2600W from the wall instead of what they claim 2000-2100W. Shocking misleading of customers. Antminer with original power supply, 230V - around 1500W. Totally different numbers! Forget about 3% difference, you can say they are exactly the same. And 50% more cost to own DragonMint Miner? No way!

Ahh, I see why you're so gloom now. Well my man, All I can say is I have been where you are at today. Trying times indeed sure, but There is no such thing as easy money in the world. Sometimes someone gets lucky, sure! But thats not the norm. As far as we miners are concerned, its all about the long game. Efficiency, durability and electric cost. You can believe that a price war is definitely coming, do I feel bad about it? a lilbit, I bought my avalons at a super high price, then they dumped the price on my ass. But shit, its just the way it is, if they don't they're fucked too. So yea, I hope Dragonmint actually tries to use this opportunity to equally fuck Bitmain as well. After the dust settles, at least we'll have a better Bitcoin. Moderator's note: This post was edited by frodocooper to trim the quote from Sandal_Hat.

The pricing certainly doesn't make sense right now for their SHA256 offerings. 2000 for the dragons were steal when BTC was 15k+, not so much at these current prices. Other algorithms they had were fine and are trendsetters in their respective markets.
It's good to see other people reporting their orders are being fulfilled and these are all being shipped out.
I'll see if they'll send me a retail T1 unit for analysis and comparison, I'll report back here with regards to that.
