you know why this shit is for real ?

S9 was 2 days ago sold out after 5 days of selling and since yesterday they started selling again...

Bitmain was never so fast to create "new batches"
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

I really hope its not a scam, but there have been so many. I guess it comes down to two old adages:

"Fortune favours the brave" and "A fool and his gold are easily parted."

I don't see the need for such secrecy however, if its there and it works, why publish all the information relevant, about the company, the developers, the engineers, the process, the fab, the layout, the chips etc etc.

Also interesting reddit thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7eqw71/rip_bitmain/

From my point of view the fact that Adam Back saw it running live and btcdrak being behind this project gives me confidence, but my scam detector may have gotten rusty.

 Error.

They have FREQUENTLY had "small batches" a day or three after a new batch on ALL of their current miner models, due to payment failures leaving them with machines that they THOUGHT were sold but ended up being available after all.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

A word of advice:

If its scam:  we loose money

If its real: we loose money, because bitmain will immediately release new version of s9 with better specs and price

unfortunately bitmain is the king...

I agree, if this isn't a scam it is very likely that Bitmain will undercut them at the best time. But honestly, this is fine, this means competition. Bitmain will probably have to seriously undercut them for many people, who are pissed off at them, to continue buying faulty, poorly supported product.

I mean, Bitmain doesn't even accept BTC... As far as I'm concerned that is bs, forcing me to buy BCH. They really did a good job tarnishing their brand.

Yes, orders only if you pay in BCH, so, here I'm selling my alt-coins to buy BCH.
I'm going to buy S9 instead of this new miner, just for sure.

All that should need to be said is The Prove You are Real Mantra:

a. Do the Tradeshow route to get (legit) press coverage to show the general public you at least built something. As in pictures of it hooked up and running at the shows. There are several large Crypto-coin/Bitcoin trade shows/conventions held each year all around the world. Attend a few and prove yourselves.

b. Start an official <insert name here> thread here for announcements and LEGIT press coverage links -- NOT links to what are really unverified ads on Pay-for-Placement 'news' sites.

c. Solicit very-well known reputable users here to do a review of it. There are several here with recent reviews of new gear from an unknown company. A good example is Haggsfin's review of the Whatsminer M3.

The usual conditions: Either contact them or if the reviewer contacts them 1st, then either send it to them gratis or an escrowed pay-for before sending. The reviewer then does an unbiased yay/nay/meh review of it with pictures, screenshots, reported hash rates both on the miner GUI and at a pool that allows looking at the worker in action. Power measurements of course required and preferably db level as well. After a week or 2 of testing the reviewer will then either return it (and if used, escrow payment is returned) or if they really like it - pay for the one they were sent.

Until the above happens - they shall forever remain Vaporware and probable scam.
YouTube vids by unknown people and taken at unknown times are mostly useless. Vids by folks here with excellent Trust and high-rank -- far better and trustworthy.

Very simple to do and in all countries I am aware of the cost of a miner maker doing this should be part of their Marketing budget. In other words a tax write-off.

I Pulled the trigger on an ASIC pre-order for the first time in about four years. Also ordered two of their power supplies for tear-down and efficiency measurement.

Anyone gonna run an order tracking thread on this, or am I stuck in 2013 thinking that's a thing? Smiley

Notes and thoughts -

The controller board and hashboards don't match S9 or T9. There are a lot of similarities, of course, but they are easily distinguished beyond simple mirroring. The hashboard ribbon cables have the same number of connectors, however.

The specs state 1205W DC consumption and 1432W at the wall. That's 84%, but their power supply specs say 92%. Either they don't have their PSUs on hand yet, they only hit 92% efficiency under very different load conditions, or 1205W doesn't include the cooling fans.

If 1205W is accurate, a DPS-2980AB will run about 2550W at the wall for two of them, which is 0.079J/GHash.

Looks like their first batch has been sold out - https://halongmining.com/shop/dragonmint-16t/  . No more orders

or perhaps the 1 day sale preorders have been sold out and the orders will resume tomorrow for 245 more.

Based on my order number they took in a minimum of ~360BTC assuming 100% payment rate.

Hi

My reasons to believe this website is a scam.

1- The site is registered on Nov 11, 2017 and today is 23rd nov. Very new site.
2.  There is no contact address or phone no.
3. Their social media accounts are comment blocked.

There is no news about a 16 th machine. if they create something, like this its a big news.

I don't think 1205W does include the fans. The specs list 100W consumption for the fans separately. For comparison the S9 fans are 50W at 100%.

I should add that all the posters in this thread pointing out scam warning flags are absolutely right and you shouldn't place an order for these miners if losing the money would be a disaster for you.

nice 360 x 8200 = just under 3 million

here is the deal  if it is real it is marginally better then the s-9

not a lot  just a bit.

16 th  vs 13 th

1600 watts vs 1400 watts

and you wait until late march to get it.---- and you can safely bet your left nut or right ovary  it will come later. Grin

My offer to the company is send me one now.  I will review it and run it in the solar array

just like I run the one from pangolian.  see videos on the pangolian (seller's company not miners name)

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-K1Sokgy3-4CdV_uZF8ubw?view_as=subscriber

the miner does make money at the moment.

no one in their right mind should have sent money  for goods coming in march  that  are not really 15% better then an s-9

Ja! As I wrote in The Prove You Are Real Mantra a real miner manufacturer would or at least should jump at the chance of getting instant Proof of existence via hands-on reviews done by folks with unquestionable repute here.

How the company runs things, handles volume production and customers is another story but at least proving the maker does really exist and have working product is a damn good start.

No matter what it puts an end to all this 'are xxx real?' speculation that just serves to suck in the rubes who have not learned what to look for in an unknown company popping up.

What you did for the pangolian miners is another prime example of going from highly questionable to at least being proven to exist and work as-advertised. Above that, being a viable miner given right power prices. eBang's eBit miners were another.

And some questions have arisen about the validity of the performance of the machine, if you watch the frames starting at 0:31s and ending 0:33s in the video you can see that the hash rate is 4TH but then on frame at 0:32s that line is edited out of the frame, and then it switches to slush "screenshot" at 0:33s.

Share Submission Rate is Plausible
The log lines we see cover the interval
[2017-11-22 09:08:10.720] to [2017-11-22 09:08:38.904], or 18.2 seconds.
We can see 15 share accepted messages during that interval, or about 50 shares per minute.
The pool difficulty is 4948. This means each 25 shares per minute corresponds to 4948*1.79GH/s (see -ck's post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=274023.0).

So we have 50/25*4948*1.79 = 17.7TH/s.

Since we observed 15 events the std dev is about 3.8 and we can say that the hash rate likely lies between 13TH/s and 22TH/s.

For some odd reason, I got a feeling it is an S9 that we are looking at. It just looks too alike.
The 16TH number on the website could be an S9 plus other unseen miners, say two S5. That adds up to about 16TH right? Does it show it was only 1 machine?
Also, sometimes it just shows a far higher number in the pool on a miner for first couple of mins. Thats the case for me for some miners too.

What u guys think?

Selling 100 dollar coupons (8units expire 11th June, 14 units expire 1st july) and 125 dollar coupon (2 unit exp 30th June). Selling at 20% of value

Far far better would be them having at least one on a shelf somewhere running 24x7 that we can look at. Case in point my 3 stick loto miners at -ck's solo pool. Be it 'one of their lab' machines or whatever, have it running so we can check it.

Instant verifiable by anyone proof of *something* (but not necessarily said Unicorn miner) mining to that address and its current hashrates.

That in itself blows the snot out of any recorded video or screen shots.

My point exactly.
Newbs come across some typically Pay-for-Placement PR blurb on any number of 'news' sites and where is one of the first places they head to next to ask about it?

Here.

And here, first reaction is: Knowledgeable folks here take a peek, generally get a good laugh and then leave said Vaporware site a bit saddened someone could think it is even plausible much less real.

*IF* plausible then next step is The Prove It Is Real Mantra. Fail it and then yes I and many others declare SCAM! Considering the millions of $ it takes to bring a miner to market, the cost of a few demo units is insignificant when starting a new brand.
