Not specifically BTC but cryptocurrencies in general. You think it will become a course of study / college degree at some point?

It may definitely become a course in the near future, but I'm not sure if you could make a major out of it. And I'm speaking not about bitcoin here, also not about cryptocurrencies actually, but about the blockchain. A lot of institutions are trying to adapt the blockchain mentality, so maybe blockchains can become a major in the future.

I dont think this will be possible.  Cryptocurrencies are digital currencies, and so they just currencies like our fiat money right now.  If we didnt even have courses and explicit studies for the currencies in the world,  I dont think thered be any for cryptocurrencies as well.

I am very optimistic about colleges pursuing cryptocurrencies as a major in the near future. Due to the changing nature of the financial system, universities and colleges would be left with no option than to institutionalized and impact knowledge on crytocurrencies in order to meet demands of financial institutions, financial market and financial instruments.

I don't think crypto currency will ever be a major in colleges, all of the informations about it is accessible online so you don't need a teacher to teach it. Rather the crypto currency, why not the blockchain. It has a lot of ways to be developed and be used in a lot of other things that will be very useful in the near future.

I think it will someday in the future be presented in schools. Because this is not something little it is the future and a lot of people are already using it.

We need to teach them so our new generation can have more information about this subject.

Programming, blockchain, etc. yes. I think it's more on people to choose to write their thesis on it rather than it being a standalone major.

I think bitcoin will be categorized as a topic for a main subject of blockchain if it is taught in college. If bitcoin is taught in financial course it may become major subject and with other alternative coin with different objectives.

im thinking along the same lines; if anything, blockchain technology could be developed into a major, but i think it's way too niche of a subject to be developed into an entire field of study. i could definitely see courses in blockchain technology being integrated into other majors, such as software engineering, but you cant build a field of study on the blockchain alone. could be a pretty good topic for a thesis though.

there's enough information out on the internet for me to get a bachelor's in just about every STEM degree out there too, but i dont exactly have 50 degrees now do i? hell i could teach myself enough information to get a couple degrees in a few years time. your argument is invalid.

of course you dont have studies on money itself, its not like we have a dollar and euro major at your local college or anything. however, there's plenty of economics degrees going around, where'd you get the idea that those didnt exist?

theres nothing here. message me if you want to put something here.

No. It still lies within the field of Computer Science. You may probably major in it, but you will need programming know-how to study it in-depth.

I think temporary bitcoin will not appear in College courses. Unless it has affected most people's lives. Now the government is more exclusive than bitcoin, and the banking industry is more like bitcoin. Maybe a few years later, in the university computer counseling course, there will be some encrypted currency related introduction

I'm about to finish a semi-casual article on this question (or related to it, anyway). Bitcoin will likely never be a major - just as US dollar isn't a major of any degree I know of! But certainly, blockchain is already offered in some way in some higher-learning institutions, perhaps not "internationally recognised" as yet, and cryptocurrency is also very much on the horizon.

I'll give an example here: University of Nicosia already has an Msc in Digital Currency (Bitcoin and blockchain are a major part of the syllabus) and a MSc in Computer Science (majoring in blockchain). Not exactly a top 200 global university, but you could do a lot worse...

You can already get your Masters degree in Digital Currencies - even from the comfort of your own home (online courses)!

The degree is offered by the University of Nicosia:
https://digitalcurrency.unic.ac.cy/about-the-program/

You can find an overview of the offered topics here:
https://digitalcurrency.unic.ac.cy/about-the-program/semester-breakdown/

If you are still not sold on the degree, look at some of the people, who are involved as teachers:
Quote
It is taught by renowned Bitcoin experts Andreas Antonopoulos and Antonis Polemitis and includes 12 live online sessions.

Bitcoin might be a subject in college but being a major in college is a little bit out of hand. I cannot see someone majoring in bitcoin unless they are really decided to work for it full time like others that are already earning well in the cryptocurrency world. It must be first legalized and then educate others on how to use bitcoin. They must also teach the advantages and disadvantages in bitcoin and let their laboratories be hands on in handling bitcoin.

One user has given good explanation regarding the courses available related to digital currencies online. Maybe in future we can find lot of courses relating to blockchain technology, because everything is functional based on the particular technology and has got importance over each and every sector.

I doubt colleges will create a special course of study for crypto currencies. But I am sure that crypto should be joined to a course of economic theory of every place where it studied. People need to know about crypto currencies, even if some politics and economists do not admit it as money or have generally "fraud" opinion about it.

It is actually! It all started with just one guy. He was buying all such things which probably our parents won't allow us to . So I just asked him how he manages to do so. This he told me about Bitcoin and this forum. Since that day me and my friends all use this forum to make some money as well as help few people out with their problems. Infact first it was all about the money but later when I actually started reading few posts and topics I found it very interesting and lately began contributing alot to this forum.

I reckon once Bitcoin goes mainstream and when it gets accepted as a currency, a lot more serious attention will be given to it. I personally think

Crypto currences should be included in the children's education from a early age. Not just Crypto currencies, but a whole section on innovation

and entrepreneurship as part of their financial education.  Wink

I don't think there will be a full course on it, but we are talking about blockchain technology and its effect on cryptocurrencies in one of my classes. I don't think it'll ever be a full class but a major case study at the most. Either way, BTC will make its way into the curriculum one way or another.

I think it's a possible thing in the near future especially in economy colleges. Bitcoin has beacome an important currency in the world and the coming generations have to learn about it in schools as a first in introducing bitcoin to the community.
I really hope that it become a part of courses in sveral countries not only few, to make bitcoin more international as a currency.

For something to be an academic major you would need to decide what the prescribed and elective courses are needed to successfully complete this major.

Accounting at the Univesity of Marquette requires: Intermediate Accounting, Accounting Communications,Individual Income Taxation, Advanced Accounting, Cost Accounting, and Business Law and then three electives from a list of courses.

What should be the perquisites and electives be for a Bitcoin Major?

I don't think colleges should have a specific course on BTC but they should have blockchain technology as a major. I guess it is more effective as the technology is gaining momentum fast.

I don't think so. There is no reason to make it as major study part in college and why would it go to that much high level. May be some subject can be made on bitcoin to understand the digitalisation of the currency and learning the blockchain techonolgy but not the whole course I believe. They have got no reason to make it as major and the first thing would be what you will teach students about? From where you will start the subject and what you will include in it? The coding? The programs of GitHub and open sources of codes? May be about the ICO projects and management? No I don't think so this will help them to learn anything about it. Its all about the individual skills which can be added later on to create successful bitcoin knowledge.

I believe if ever it is possible, the course name would be cryptocurrencies because like other subject who has a minor part, bitcoib is like that, a fraction of cryptocurrencies. But we all know that most of the teachings would be focused on bitcoin since it is the most successful of all samples.

There is a big possibility that a major course focused on the blockchain and cryptocurrency can be introduced in the college. which school will it be...that's for us to find out later. There is actually a good amount of interest by many students on this field and I am expecting that soon there will be students who are also into Bitcoin. This trend can be a part of the bigger movement for the legitimization of Bitcoin and its eventual entrance into the mainstream. Coupled with the introduction of CME's futures contracts (which can be the catalyst for some others to introduce the same product), the campus can be the next ground for expansion of Bitcoin.

It is quite possible, now in many universities they conduct lectures on blockade and bitcoin technology, in the future it can become a whole discipline, and then a specialty.

For me this can be a lot of people let say 98% of the population all over the world are satisfied of having and using this kind of digital currency then it may be the time that having this subject in college would be more better. And this kind of currency that are born are being in demand cause in our age the technology that we have is in high so better to have this in the near future.

As a major subject in college? I don't think so, since all of the information they need to learn about cryptocurrencies are readily available all over the internet. It is worth only as a mention maybe, but not as a major subject.

Like seriously?? Is cypto-currency such a rocket science that it might be needed to be taught in school/college?? I dont think there is need to make it a subject/major in schoo/college. One can learn about it by simply reading and writing on forums like this unless someone is lazy ass.  Cheesy

I think there's no need to make bitcoin as one of the offered curriculums in a college or university because if it will happen, how about those people who had no background in bitcoin? In that case, it would be unfair to those people who cannot afford to enroll for such course so for me, it is better if it will not happen. Anyway, the important here in bitcoin is you know how to manage and earn money from it.

I don't think it will ever come to that. I'm not saying that cryptocurrencies are not complex, we know they are because they are quite recent. Most people don't understand it's value, and have different ideas about them. Some call it a bubble, some say it's the revolution we needed in our financial lives, and regulators still don't know what to do with it.

So a lot of ground needs to be covered here, and we will definitely see some studies and education associated with crypto, and that will probably be held in several Universities and in different areas (economics, law, and why not computer science because of the blockchain, and electronics because of mining, etc, etc.), but I don't think there will ever be a major or a college degree dedicated to crypto. It's study will just be split among all the areas it relates to.

I do not think that bitcoin will be majoring in college, because now there is a lesson that addresses the basic criptocurency, ie Cryptography and information security courses. In the lesson we explained how basic criptocurency, security, but of course this is very boring to follow.

Well, it is possible in the future if cryptocurrencies replace fiats. Every government will be interested in employing people who are prepared to work with cryptocurrencies. Creating and maintaining cryptocurrency isn't an easy process as many people think. People working with cryptocurrencies must be good at mathematics and cryptography. It will be interesting to see how big will be the demand for crypto-specialists.
In my opinion, there is little possibility government will fully support cryptocurrencies unless they can control it (centralized). but yeah blockchain programmer will have high demand in the future because in the future everything will be related to blockchain scheme, cryptography, and security.

Cryptocurrency or blockchain can be, maybe already are.
Bitcoin less likely, since its too specific I think.

As a major subject in college? I don't think so, since all of the information they need to learn about cryptocurrencies are readily available all over the internet. It is worth only as a mention maybe, but not as a major subject.
all the information i need for a bachelors in pretty much everything is readily available on wikipedia, and with a bit of digging in the right places, probably masters degrees as well, so by your logic, universities shouldnt even exist. actually use your brain and try to come up with a statement that's only half true.

What jobs would this degree be used for?
ideally blockchain development if bitcoin were to take off, development on forks to improve the scalability of bitcoin. however, i dont think this would ever work out; bitcoin benefits from decentralization, and with employers seeking these jobs to develop the blockchain, most likely the benefit themselves, i dont think this would ever work out for the benefit of bitcoin.

Cryptocurrency or blockchain can be, maybe already are.

But then check these: https://goo.gl/k7XAEY, so why not.
if anything, bitcoin is a broader subject that the blockchain as the blockchain is an inherently included topic on the subject of bitcoin. however, i dont think either of these subjects holds enough subject matter to develop a field of study on.

theres nothing here. message me if you want to put something here.

I think it is not a good idea if cryptocurrencies will be teach in schools because students will become more focus in earning cryptocurrencies rather than studying. There are some courses online that offers free teaching about cryptocurrencies. You can enroll to that course if you want to learn about cryptocurrencies.

I do not see BTC becoming major in colleges or universities because it goes against their whole system. Sure there are some random ones accepting it for their bookstore, or even paying their tuition, but there ins't widespread BTC classes being offered. We will see it eventually once the world changes the way education is done as well and this will come with decentralizaiton.

Yes, many of the top colleges are offering or have started offering cryptography classes on the subject.

Learning about the programming side of things, the security side, hashing, and all things encompassing it.

It is something all people should learn about and we need to teach our kids about decentralization so that we can make a better world. Also tell your family and friends about it.

If bitcoin is mass adopted and a lot of people is using it seeing it's potential then maybe it's possible that bitcoin will be in college but i don't see it happening sooner and not all college will gonna be teaching bitcoin i guess.

It is possible, studies about computers started from abacus and until today, new technologies are being implemented to studies not for information but to help them use it in a daily basis.
Cryptocurrencies are included in modern technology since it is run through web.
Or may be included also in economics since it discusses about currencies.
But in order to make that happen. Government should accept first bitcoin. It will be evaluated not only for the country purposes but by education organisation if applicable.

No way it will be possible.
But could be a good example and be used in economics though.  They are actually going to be good with it when it is bitcoin that will be used as an example.
Remeber, it is not easy to predict where bitcoin is going and if ever they could make it somehow possible then they could make a lot of money.

This would actually be very interesting and something I would love to see!  I would honestly actually take that if it's available by the time I'm going to college probably.  I hope that they do make it a thing,  but I doubt it honestly.

Spreading bitcoin and blockchain technology based inventions is certainly one of the main goals that the cryptocurrencies community has to do in a continuous pace to inform people that there are new ways to practice their freedom in this cruel world , spreading this ideology is imperative , but should be done in the right way .
I already know people who are having cryptography lessons in their computer engineering curriculum  , or working on small projects that gets them to know more about the blockchain technology .
Others are having international finance courses talking about exchanging rates and foreign exchanging market and the bitcoin topic was posed multiple times by their tutors in order to enrich their knowledge of such economic models .

Not bitcoin itself but the technology behind bitcoin can be a major in the future. I'm talking about blockchain technology, bitcoin is a cryptocurrency and it can be included to economics subject and other financials or accounting courses. Well if that's the whole cryptocurrency itself, including majority learning such as the tech, smart contracts and other things about it together with mining and confirmation of transactions.

your reply is completely worthless unless you can define exactly what you mean by their 'system.' and just going off of assumptions here, i cant see what you could possibly mean, much less how it would go against their 'system.' universities are places of higher learning, where students can pursue in - depth and niche knowledge and obtain a degree certifying that they have taken the time and effort (and money) to obtain this information for use in furthering society. what exactly would learning about bitcoin have against a system of education? youre probably just shitposting for your sig campaign, but theres that 1/100 chance you're not, so i'd like to see exactly what you mean by this 'system' that you've failed to define.

theres nothing here. message me if you want to put something here.

Then perhaps blockchain technology is valid. Its benefit, features and smart contracts. These are very interesting subjects that are helpful and necessary on IT courses. BTC and crypto are like companies and they will never become a major in college. It's like companies like Samsung, Exxon Mobil and other companies in the stock market becoming a major in college which is funny and nonsense.

It may not become a course of study or a degree in college because if ever universities might just associate it as a major subject or a minor subject depending on the course or degree you are taking. I think it would be great if people will start on knowing more about bitcoin and crypto currency. Crypto currency might be the main currency in the future and it will help a lot of people in the future.

It can also be studied in college. To better understand most people. To fully understand how people use or benefit bitcoin. It is best to study it in business courses. In order to have their knowledge about the business they will work someday. And that's fine, for while they're working? they earn money to provide for their education Smiley.

I agree to the idea of teaching cryptocurrency to the college students since our kind of living is now changing from traditional to more advance but less complicated one. if ever this will be implemented, I think the one who will be benefited the most are the college students taking business related coursrs and financing related courses. Through this, they will become more competetive when they are already in the industry.

But other courses which that are not related to business and financing should also have the chance to study this because they may also apply this in their respective fields. Therefore, I think it would be better if basic topics of cryptocurrency must be included in their Basic Economics subject.

basically bitcoin is like just any other currency or money around the world. It can be used to trade or buy something you like, but I think making bitcoin as a major subject is not possible, maybe included in a subject as a top, that would be possible, and if you observe, there are no major subjects that only focus on one single currency. I think for now this would not be possible.

Not specifically BTC but cryptocurrencies in general. You think it will become a course of study / college degree at some point?

No. I don't think bitcoin or cryptocurrencies will ever become a course or a degree in college. Although, it is possible that it will be integrated or become one of subject matters under computer-related courses/degree or under economics. Moreover, I don't think all schools will be able to adapt this subject easily in their curriculum (if ever it did become a course) because of the underlying principles that requires blockchain technology as such, unless they do have the knowledge, facilities, and equipment.

There already lots of colleges that teaches cryptography around the world and making people acknowledge information about hashing and whatsoever related to the blockchain technology and it's specificity .Furthermore people who are having economy degrees already study economical models and have a clear vision about pumping and dumping which is mainly what's happening to all cryptocurrencies from one time to another . A single major that gathers all the technological and economical aspects of bitcoin might be hard to set up since it unites two completely different fields but such an futurist invention should certainly be properly taught in colleges .

What do you mean major? Is there a major in United States Dollar? There is none right? So it is more like, major in sales and such that is included in trading. Probably that's a better thing to say rather than BTC major.

I think that this is quite possible. Progressive theme, aimed at the future and improvement of our lives, the development of technology, this topic needs specialists and they will have to be trained, I'm sure one hundred percent that it will be, and even is already there.

It's possible because bitcoin and other cryptos has become a great hit this year which make them popular around the world and if bitcoin will become acceptable throughout the world I think it is very important that young ones will learn it so that the development in crypto currencies will continue as well as the demand and popularity will be world wide

This maybe possible to become a part of some courses like business, economics or in all IT courses but as a become a major course in college this topic will not take long enough to learn. If the school will apply this to a bachelor course i don think it would be a best course to learn crypto currencies 4 years is long enough to learn crypto.

I am expecting some courses based on the Blockchain technology because it's not just only about money. Blockchain as a technology has a huge potential and it can save a tremendous amount of time in many sectors.

We have already started testing Blockchain technology and thus I do see blockchain as a study option and it won't remain limited to BTC.

* Russia's Government to Test Blockchain Land Registry System.

* ICICI Bank executes India’s first banking transactions on blockchain in partnership with Emirates NBD.

There is some good news about education too,

* Australian Primary School Students Explore Bitcoin.

* Top 5 University Bitcoin Courses.

Actually people in most of the country still don't know about bitcoin. It could be a good decision by the upper level people of a country to spread the knowledge by doing study what you mentioned in college. But I think not so need to have a degree or course but it could be so fine if they have a special books for study in must. There's have a another idea keeping too many book in the library about cryptocurrency they could be so excited and come in touch with bitcoin and take advantages from that digital currency as well.

Since the cryptocurrency or electronic currency slowly builds it name in the industry and many different countries accept it in all commercial and financial purposes; having a subject in college like bitcoin is great idea that will enlighten some college student, especially finance students to their respective studies. Cryptocurrencies is a broad topic that needs to be study well and get well inform. In our generation there are lots of inventions and a system, created to improve human’s life. We need to innovate our system and ourselves as well; to be able to adopt what’s new in the society.

It possible because  other campany use bitcoin in entrpreneurship and to innovate their products
Yes, There are pretty good chances for bitcoin to be taught in universities and colleges as a course because it is the latest trend in the economics and those who are doing degrees related to business, finance, economics, accounting etc. should know about this technology in detail. This step will be very beneficial for these people in their practical lives because bitcoin is the future of currencies.

I agree that it can be viewed as an upcoming industry, and thus, would entice academes to offer it as a course. But, it can also be just part of a new curriculum under business administration, management or accountancy. I don't know if it would turn out so big that universities would even consider to open a new course or degree just to satisfy the demand of people wanting to learn about it.

Having in mind educational system in my country, I don't think so. Not now, not in the near future. Although it wouldn't be so hard to implement lectures about all cryptocurrencies, not just Bitcoin, and blockchain technology into some subject about finances. But professors should be educated about that in first place and at the moment there is situation that children have more information than their teachers.

In Singapore there are some courses related to IT that have started to talk about cryptocurrency. I personally also have some university friends who joined the crypto community after they have been in contact with the course. So it's just sooner or later where majority of the universities and even colleges start to blend in crypto as a major subject. Cheers for those who are in early!

No! It would definitely not be a course in college. Imagine this, if BTC will be a course in college, the lessons that we will only need to take up is about trading, the essentials of bitcoin, gambling, blockchain technology and etc. It is just a cycle of topic and we don't need 4 years to understand all those things. It is much better if it will be just a topic or lesson in our Economics subject. We could learn all those things in that span of time and we can continue gaining new knowledge all by ourselves.

Do not agree with you at all. Why can't crypto be considered at school level? You definitely do not need to be a genius to begin learning the basics of the crypto world and even the advanced concepts are not too difficult to learn. There are so many resources available these days online and offline related to crypto making it easy for people of all ages to understand how the crypto world works in an effective manner.

what if it can be done. and if it is true what degree will be given.? i think it is too much to respond if bitcoin be a college majors maybe it sounds strange. if they want to learn bitcoin do not need to take the majors about it enough understand it regularly on the already experienced. but if on his blockchain system may have many colleges that use it. because bitcoin is always associated with blockchain technology.

I cant think of it as a major subject because we all know that this is all temporary, who knows what will happen in the future? Plus a lot keeps banning it and taking it as something illegal.

Though it wont be tackled in college , students/people may always be an enthusiast with cryptocurrencies through internet where it all originated from. Just needs a lot of hard works.

I don't think that it will be implemented. Bitcoin can be done anywhere, you can do it without the help of college universities. You can do it with your self and BTC is not for lifetime you can determine if it will last long as what you are thinking. And imagine this, if BTC is legalized to be a major in college, are you willing to take 4 years for this if you can do it with your own? I didn't say that it is not worthy but instead of doing BTC only why didn't you focus on what passion/skills you have. Btc is one a sidelines or additional earnings and we don't need it to become major

i don't think so, why? if btc becomes a major in a college then the problem graduates of the majors only understand about bitcoin. so in my opinion, in the future there will be a general learning about bitcoin so that everyone can be 'Multi-Talented Person' for about finances. For example, if you are in Accounting major and you learn about bitcoin too, it's very usefull right? one side you understand about 'financial statements' and the other side you understand about 'trading / investing Bitcoin'.

Lol probably no, the possible thing is a major in blockchain technology. A major in blockchain technology is much more probable in near future, when the world sees what blockchain can really do, tons of people are going to build their own apps/platform/etc using blockchain and this will probably be taught in college.

perhaps for the next 5 years there will be a country that adopts learning about blockchain and crypto. and bitcoin therein. yes I think someday it will happen.
digital technology will continue to evolve over time, where there will be many new innovations that involve crypto and bitcoin.

Why not? Because the technology behind the digital coins is still new and it has good potential in the future, the problem right now there are no many complete source of information about it for the people who interested learning about this technology, the blockchain technology and the technology of any other related with digital coins can be applied on daily life, it can addopted on business, government, the banks but there are no many people who really really know about this technology and we still don't have enough of information.

Crypto would probably be mentioned here and there especially when bitcoin grows crazily high, but i don't think there's going to be a full curriculum for it.

There would be a great chance that this will happen in the future. Considering the high demand and popularity of cryptocurrency, when a government finally endorse cryptocurrency, education will rise. In thr lessons, cryptocurrency will be remembered as the invention that change the online market entirely.

That would be nice if that happens, and much better if they will accept cryptocurrencies specially bitcoin as a mode of payment for their programs. Bitcoin would be a major part of the economies around the world if it continues to increase in value and I would say it would be normal if education system adapted to it as well.

Gaining a better understanding of Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency ecosystem can be a daunting task. It is rather easy to get overwhelmed by all of the information, and finding the right starting point for your quest is not easy. Thankfully, there are a few mainstream Bitcoin courses people can take advantage of. Most of these efforts focus on the US crowd, but international recognition is gaining traction as well.

I personally don't think that bitcoin or any crypto currencies will be a mandatory college course to get a degree. Now dont get me wrong they may offer like optional classes kinda like they offer wine tasting classes but i think thats about as much as they will offer.

I guess, the idea of making crytocurrencies as a college degree is not feasible right now and it takes more years to make it feasible.  Making it as a subject or part of the curriculum of computer course is more possible than making it as a degree.

Not likely in regular/traditional colleges. But in business schools, possibly since Bitcoin has caught the attention of many business sectors.

Not likely after a long ponderous moment because cryptocurrency will fall under economics or in financial matters and it can be touched by those subjects. Especially now that some of the majoy countries are banning or closing their doors on it i suppose it would not be

Why not? The world of crypto and blockchain technologies is developing and soon they will come into life of almost all people — like internet, for example. It can be taught in colleges and univercities.
For example SEO - about websites. It is not old science, maybe 10 years. And in some universities it is possible to study about it.

Bitcoin has been rightly affecting and positively changing a lot of fortune. Bitcoin has now become a topic for discussions amongst economically  influential personalities and if this trend continues, I do not only see Bitcoin being part of college curriculum or programme, I also see Bitcoin becoming a serious case study for the global economy.

Yes bitcoin will be a major in college i have found something interesting about the bitcoin on college, This week the international business school, Varna University of Management (VUM), located in Bulgaria, has announced that ten applicants for the school’s software engineering bachelor’s program will earn bitcoin-based scholarships. Students will be able to choose to receive the scholarship fund for 1000 EUR in the equivalent amount of bitcoins. That's fact that the bitcoin will be addopted by college include the major in college, it is just about the time i guess.

I think not bitcoin but blockchain for sure. Bitcoin is like one of "product" from blockchain technology, and you can use this technology for something else.
Now i expect there is some college major consider to adopt blockchain technology into their curriculum. It's like the future has changed by blockchain, so everyone including school and college must be prepared. Yeah, I think this is important to do.

Indeed, There are entirely great shots for bitcoin to be instructed in colleges and schools as a course since it is the most recent pattern in the financial matters and the individuals who are doing degrees identified with business, economics, finance  and so forth should think about this innovation in detail. This progression will be exceptionally useful for these individuals in their down to earth lives in light of the fact that bitcoin is the eventual fate of monetary standards.

Bitcoin is the major of crypto currency and whole crypto market is depending on bitcoin that’s why this will be main subject in the economics college and all this will be done because people will take much serious to the bitcoin and then this will be done in a good way also, bitcoin as a subject will bring the awareness to those who are against bitcoin and it will attract people to learn it and earn huge in professional way.

I doubt that something as bitcoin would be a major in college. It is too specific to be a major. Perhaps it could be part of a curriculum, whereby students will get the privilege to learn everything that they want to learn in bitcoin. Also, the fact that they might find it handy in the future where they would want to engage in an investment, then it would be really helpful to them.

it depends if the country will allow or be legalize here. and if i were a college student it'll be a big help not only for me but for everyone understanding cryptocurrency is like learning the economy and the importance of investing and i think if they will learn about it. it may help them to gain money and hep them to pursue their college degree without problem in their financial aspect.

I think bitcoin will not be a major in college, maybe it can become a topic in a certain course but not a major. There are manny things to consider before making bitcoin a major a reality. First it must be recornized by the country that it is a currency. A law must be signed. Second, a law should be created that bitcoin will be included as a major. Plus I think bitcoin can be discussed in marketing or econkmics, so why make it a major.

But since bitcoin is almost related on businesses and financial aspect so probably this lessons are related to business courses. But I guess its somehow related to Information technology courses.

For me Yes, because bitcoin has many ways to use it explored and i think in the future it will become a major in college because as you can see it more and more popular. It is very possible, now in many universities, they conduct lectures on blockade and bitcoin technology, in the future it can become a whole discipline, and then a specialty.

I think with the development of encrypted money, some small business schools will offer some interest courses for bitcoin, but it also makes it a specialized course in universities, which seems unlikely. The influence of bitcoin on society has not yet been revealed, which is to observe its development.

why not? bitcoin is a digital currency and it also has a value that can be used on buying just like fiats or local currency therfor it can still be possble to become a subject or a major subject and course in schools and  college. bitcoin or crypto is infact verry hard to learn if your going to dig it deeper and wants to be familliarize on its technical side therfor teaching it in school can be a good advantage for people who wants to learn more from it. they can also teach about trading ,mining , investing or any other business related or marketing strategy.

Maybe. I think many tech companies or tech schools would incorporate cryptocurrency development. They would teach their students how to make a cryptocurrency that is feasible enough to go viral and be as good as bitcoins. Cryptocurrency development is a good major for tech giant firms to release their very own coins.

I think there's is a chance to be a major in college, because  there  are people  don't know about, so the best  to do is let bitcoin included in the course. Especially today bitcoin is most popular. Its a good thing that bitcoin may be a major in college so that the young people  will familiar to the  bitcoin and most  especially today we are in world of advance technology. Its possible soon bitcoin will be already a major in college.

I don't think it would become a course because there are lots of courses out there that also study crypto currency, it was like it was just part of their study or just part of their course. And ofcourse, cryptocurrency was just like a subject not a course and what type of job they will get for it??. I also don't think so beacuse for me crypto is not that so wide or deep to study.

I don't think it is appropriate to make a major out of cryptocurrencies. I think what will happen is there will be seminars and workshops that talks about cryptocurrencies. There will be small talks and hands-on activities out there to make people be educated about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies available.

Maybe it will be in the near future, but it should only be the financial profession that will be covered. Cryptocurrencies, a virtual currency fund, should grow faster and more steadily thereafter.

I think the research on the virtual currency should join the university curriculum. At present, the virtual currency has become a new financial mode. With its unique financial system, maybe it will indicate the future direction of finance. I think it is necessary for universities to study virtual currency!

Currently bitcoin is booming and reaching a high price, but I do not think bitcoin will be a major in college. Because now there are already majors that have been reviewing the basics of bitcoin, the department of Informatics Engineering. In the Department of Information Engineering there are courses on cryptography that review the basics of bitcoin.

It is possible because it is a form of financial. But I think it would be more interesting if the blockchain would become course of study or degree. Theres so much that blockchain can offer to us that I think we didnt maximized yet what blockchain can offer. Because all in all BTC is just a reward for those who are  on the blockchain that answers the mathematical equation. I think how does the blockchain works is more interesting and more topics to talk about with. Smiley

I think yes, with all these hype about bitcoins and its popularity I guess schools will try to consider bitcoin as a part of their programs and curriculum specially business schools as bitcoin has been proven profitable but I don't think it needs to become a major course in college.

I don't think it will happen, sine bitcoin is not that good to be a course. Maybe it can be apply in some major courses like accountancy or in the IT field. Since talking about money and technology here. And also its hard to provide some textbooks about that since it is only started to bloom.

I like the sound of that. A blockchain course would be very helpful so someone can guide those that are not good at the technical aspects of crypto or even improve the existing one that even the most talented hacker can't bypass its security.

Honestly, it could very well be that programming techniques based around blockchain, or those that complement one another could become a college major. I suspect if a college began offering such a course it would certainly reach the news, and would have no shortage of applicants. The technology is still new, many corporations have their eyes on the technology and proficiency would look good any any resumé.

Some universities offer blockchain courses. Maybe in the future it will become a major subject or could be a course given a lot of youths now are interested in learning this new technology. Sooner or later blockchain and cryptocurrency will be discovered by a lot of people, resulting in widespread curiosity and adoption.

It was a very nice idea if government will allow college students to implement a cryptocurrency major subjects for us to expect more projects of different coins in the future. Therefore we can live a cashless country since it was applicable for every if their government will just use cryptocurrency to improve their own country.

I think it can be done in some countries. But there are still many countries around the world that don't accept bitcoin. So in these countries, bitcoin is hard to be taught as a course in a university. Only when a country accepts bitcoin will it be realized.

I think it is very difficult, but for a very large country it is difficult to accept the existence of the bitcoin or cryptopcurrency.

Yes you are right about that, some of the countries cannot really handle the growth of bitcoins and the companies are loosing their workers and in order to avoid that to happen they should stop bitcoins so we can say that cryptocurrency is not healthy for every country.

Yes, for now it's an informal subject, being discussed only as curiosity during classes. But at some time it will have to be part of the scholar subjects officially, because it's part of the history and a very present part of modern economy. Countries can dislike Bitcoin, but they can't ignore it forever.

However, even those countries that don't like Bitcoin, Uzbekistan for an example, like BTC's technology and have already signed they want to support developers and incentize their people to learn more about Crypto-Currency and Blockchain to continue developing the technology. In the end, their goal is to create a new Crypto-Currency backed by real assets, a centralized one.

I doubt colleges will create a special course of study for crypto currencies. But I am sure that crypto should be joined to a course of economic theory of every place where it studied. People need to know about crypto currencies, even if some politics and economists do not admit it as money or have generally "fraud" opinion about it.

Its hard to implement the bitcoin as a major subject in college because it is no relation with the other subject. It is more on investing and earning online. We can teach them if they wanted to learn even though it is not a subject.

Bitcoin education could be added to college curriculum. However there would be a huge debate that will go on when they srart categorizing bitcoin to either the economics or tge information technology course as it both tackles the two courses. Bitciin education could be of great gelp especially to the teenagers nowadays that are still financially dependent. And a little knowledge and mptivation might drive them to invedt ob bitcoins.

It would be nice to introduce training to crypto-currencies in a college or university. As technology is progressing and we need the younger generation to think something new. But it will not happen now, maybe in 5 years.

I don't believe it will be a major, but cryptocurrencies should have a collegiate level course. Both at a financial level and a blockchain level. Introducing this information at a high school and collegiate level will push the technology even farther. The generations after us are the future, and the earlier they are informed, the faster we can push things forward.

I for one don't believe that Btc or any crypto currencies will be a required college course to get a degree. Presently don't misunderstand me they may offer like discretionary classes kinda like they offer research and tasting classes yet I contemplate as much as they will offer.

I  think it should become a part of the college curriculum. It will definitely be a smart and an intelligent move. To spread the knowledge about the crypto would become easier if such kind of step    is taken up by the education ministry.

Students right now just need to be educated regarding this topic and they can really do wonders. Every time a get to meet a student and get to discuss this topic with him, I really get to know a hell lot of new ideas because the youth has a different perspective to look at the things.

with time I really hope each n every country takes a step forward to introduce crypto as a subject in the schools or colleges!!

I guess that's impossible, seeing now that many have banned cryptocurrencies like states that prohibit the use of bitcoin as a transaction tool and recently social media has also banned advertising of cryptocurrency and ICO. So yes it is impossible for cryptocurrency to be used as a learning in a university.

Not specifically BTC but cryptocurrencies in general. You think it will become a course of study / college degree at some point?

I will really agree if college universities will place a major course and it is about cryptocurrency but it really takes time before it will happen since there are a lot of governments today who really hate the idea of using cryptocurrency in their country.

I see the point in introducing bitcoin and cryptocurrency in General to students of financial and economic orientation. We are all waiting for quality professionals, so that they may be educated to the fullest. And we will need these specialists.

No, it will not be a course or degree. It maybe part of the subject of the course but not as a major course. There are no valid reasons that bitcoin will be included as a major course because of the situations right now.

It can be a major example on subject topic or related matters, or a major topic of research and issues for debate, but as a subject I guess it will go with a deep process to become a major subject.

Well not literally be the entire BTC be the major subject. But then, this should be included in some college curriculums in order for the students to understand its background and how is it going in our present market. It is very important indeed so that they get to understand what is going on in our market and for them to better understand.

A major, no. But a course in money and investment management majors it could be taught. It's one major investment now and a lot more people are getting into it so it's only fitting they be taught how to manage it.

Over the past few years, colleges and universities all over the world have been creating courses revolving around cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology so it probably wont be too long before it becomes a major in college with the growing demand.

I think courses already exist with cryptocurrency in a few modules. I know University of berckley do. Long term I can't see if having its own specific course but I can see it taking over large parts of financial/economics courses. Even law for that matter. I also assume if you study cryptography at university cryptocurrency will pop up.

With a good literacy in something, we can achieve many things out of that thing. Btc course in college? Sounds like a great idea, but look at the things to be considered in order for you to start as a crypto major thing. Professors are needed in order to teach college students. Where can you find those. Well there were a lot of things.

I have heard some Universities offer Blockchain courses but there are only some universities. But blockchain courses are not considered as an important subject or course which can be studied like any other subject or course ( including optional subjects and course) at any university. But seeing the popularity of cryptocurrency in recent dates and seeing the growth of the community maybe many more colleges will start adopting blockchain courses in their curriculum in coming days.

In my opinion, it is not impossible but it is somehow hard to achieve. It can be a college course but what job you will get right after?  I think you can learn by yourself to do job in crypto, no college degree needed so I think this will not be becoming a major in college. It can be part of the curriculum as a subject in a specified course but not a major subject so that this can help student to be able to have their own source of income even if the are just studying. I think before it is implemented, there will be several discussions about it and I think it will be debated whether cryptocurrency will be taught to college.

I do not think cryptocurrency will be used by most universities around the world, because there are so many special restrictions in every country, even cryptocurrency lately is not included in this type of economic financing but a digital asset. therefore every college would be better just to learn the basic calculations of mathematical formulas, because based on existing sources, the value of bitcoin is done by using a computer program that can solve the algorithm.

At some point cryptocurrencies has become a study course in some institutions. I don't remember clearly where but it is I am sure. So there is no other way to be modern but to study cryptocurrencies and any kind of digital money.

In my honest opinion, I don’t think it would be a major course in college. I don’t really think tou need a full course to know and educate yourself about bitcoin and other ceyptocurrencies. Although it is nice to include it in one of the subjects though for future references and usage too.

At some point, I think universities will eventually embrace cryptocurrency and finally make something out of it through education and development. I'd like to see a future thriving with cryptocurrency masters and doctors. I can't wait to have grandchildren enjoy the fruits of cryptocurrency.

The question is when, not if cryptocurrency will be commonly found as a subject in universities. This will of course happen when there has been a considerable saturation of use. Some have mentioned that it would remain in the realm of computer science or cryptography, not respecting the various aspects that the saturation of BTC in global markets would bring about. It would completely change economics as we know it, which last I remember was a very important subject offered in university. Hopefully by the time this has happened, the concept of unaffordable institutionalized higher education will have become obsolete as well.  Thank you BrewMaster for pointing out that courses have already become available in some locations.

I guess it could be thought to people in the banking and finance field since it will be a big part of their customers assets in the future. But as a major, I'm not so sure.
