Too bad the Anker 10 port 60W USB 3.0 hub doesn't support the Raspberry Pi (Anker responded to a rewiew on Amazon).  Still searching...

it says 4 amps.  I figure if I use ports, 1, 2, 5, and 7 I can get 4 moonlanders on there, with enough overhead on the power(say .85A * 4 = 3.4A)'

From my PoV, the horizontal placing seems key, I don't need the fan from one unit blowing hot air from another one.  This way I can get "clean air"

Worst case I'm pretty confident it will fit 3.  I'll let you guys know when it arrives.

I just need a few more moonlanders to test the power output.... if anyone can help me out

Key thing to check for is the max current per port, does the manual say?

Thanks for the reviews.  For the USB hubs that have dedicated power charging ports, has anyone tried a usb y power injector cable to use the power from the charging port and the data from one of the data ports?  Like this one:

I think I'll get the 10 port Anker as it can already support 3 and probably three more with cables like above.

Do you happen to know how much noise the L3+ generates? I considered buying one, but I keep hearing the power supply makes so much noise that I'm afraid to put them at home. The Moonlander 2 is quiet and an Arctic USB Fan keeps them cool. Noise for me is a consideration since I have other people around me that I have to consider. If I had my own space or garage, I'd rethink getting dedicated hardware.

I also have some dual A male to A female data/power cables. The idea is two use a USB wall charger to provide the power, and use a cheapie bus-powered USB HUB. If my scheme works, it'll be a lot cheaper to go this way than buying eyeboot or sipolar.

Has anyone tried this. Thinking of putting 3 Moonlander 2. 36W advertised. Thinking I don't want to push back 10W per port.

I want to replace my three Plugable USB 2.0 7 port hub and try to run all Moonlanders in the one hub.

If I'm successful, I'm going to order another one for my USB Gekko 2Pac SHA256 miners.

I have a Kill-A-Watt so I can test volts, amps, and wattage for Moonlander 2 at various frequencies. I also have a USB meter to check per stick. And I have a multi-meter to check on the USB stick itself. I haven't bothered to be scientific, but if it helps anyone else, I'm willing to put the time in.

I used two additional fans there for more airflow. (They're silent case fans with a USB to fan converter, so they're pretty silent.)

These are hooked up to a raspberry pi.

I'm running them at 756 getting an average of 4.4mh/s per stick.

Wow I'm lucky to get 4.0-4.25 at that speed on the same hub and clockspeed.

Are you making an apples to oranges comparison maybe, focused on the amperage but not the voltage? That says the PS is 5V 4A, which is only 20W. Can't see that being anywhere near enough for 4 unless they are running at a very low frequency.

My first moonlander 2 just turned up ! all working. This is a picture of my setup:

Consists of:

1) Raspberry PI 3 with official Rapsberry PI 3 power supply
2) Cheap USB 2.0 7 port hub - Pluscom Model u7PH-3A (not using the power supply as the Pi seems to be enough for this) cascaded into:
3) Plugable USB 3.0 7 port Hub (inc 12V 5A 60w psu) - Model: USB3-HUB7BC

3 more are in the post in the way so will be testing more plugged into the same when i can (going to try and do 7x all at the time time via extension cables)

Been running now for about an hour now litecoinpool reporting hashing at 3,498kH/s (so far so good!)

Boom!

UPDATE:. This is still running plus I've now expanded it to use 4x moonlanders at 756 speed.  One is using a USB extension cable but seems to be ok. All getting around 4,492 kH/s from litecoinpool

12V*10A, that is 120w right?  should easily run ~10 moonlander 2?  It says it can do up to 2.1A per port.  Seems like a good price for a hub that can handle 10.  Am I missing something(again)?

Are you using raspian stretch?  My moonlander are not being detected under stretch.
