After you pass the benchmark, you'll see what algorithms and what speed it supports your hardware. additionally, you can look at using an online calculator. If your GPU is in the list then you will see the approximate income of the most common algorithms.

The easiest way is to monitor the thread of the forum https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0 it publishes announcements of new coins before the start of mining/release to the exchange etc.
