Exciting day today. Simultaneous conferences taking place in two cities! Was this planned?
One was by asicminer in Shanghai and the other in Beijing held mainly for the press about hashing hardware. A lot of stuff went on and I will provide more updates as the reports and pics start coming in.
I'll also forward links to btcman forums and translate whatever people might wanna know.

Resident guru discuss fish at the Shanghai conference After explaining [/showing off] the pros and cons of his debut mining pool, he proceeds to run a mixture of pcb boards in Avalon machines live on stage. Interesting thing to note that two of the pcb boards are completely made from Avalon chips named Beehive. A demo was done with a single original Avalon board, then a single Beehive board, a mix of both Avalon and Beehive together. Then to show off the overclocking abilities of new board designs they went to 320 MHz with the new Beehive board. HW rates were kept low perhaps to indicate stability of both the hardware and the pool. The dual board setup reached 48 gigs comfortably.

Asicminer announces 800 to 1000T for second half of year finally reaching 1P of hash rate. They also announced the development of a lower nm (maybe 55 or 65) which maybe announced over the next week.
The speakers started with Tencent representative laying the basics for bitcoin. Btc123 forum followed up with in depth explanation on blockchain. Asicminer then took the stage on their share price history. Whole event took about five or six hours.
More news coming in...

Just a heads up, this conference is not like San Jose or any other conference by bitcoin foundation. It is more of a press gathering slash bitcoin fanatic event. Each lasts about five or six hours. I get different figures on headcount but the feeling is that Beijing was more successful with 200 peeps and more press while Shanghai was around 100.
My guess is that a group of people foot the bill for both events, each to their own purposes (suck in more money perhaps? )

Urgh.... just got up from five hours sleep...
Beijing was populated with more distinguished speakers. There was an analysis from a vice-dean from the RenMinDaxue university (read: Ivy League ) on the economics of bitcoin. He was to the analysis of the 'hoarding will kill bitcoin'. Then there was an Australian Bitcoin market site showcasing, asicme explaining their hardware.
Specific to this custom hardware forum is asicme which is another Avalon clone company. I believe it's the fourth or fifth of such companies that have propped up recently, except this one is selling pre-orders / vaporware and the others have taken a mainly chips to board, chips to machine service, pricing in renminbi.
Regardless of whether this is a push for pre order money, this is an interesting development as it is the first event marketing approach for asic. (oddly Avalon has yet to do event marketing, but that's cos they don't need it). If this picks up, we might get a lot more event marketing on hardware on this side. With five competitors in the market, I can only foresee a pricewar based on volume...

Just some speculation... I find it incredibly odd that two conferences were held at the same day at two different cities. I can't help but suspect that this is how it went down: asicminer had the whole event planned ahead of time. But once they found out somebody was trying to steal the limelight from them with some push for pre ordering vaporware, they got pissed off. It's like a direct challenge to their undisputed no.1 hashing power in the world.
And so, they reached into their deep R&D pockets to pull out a pcb board design from Avalon chips and slipped it into the show. People who get the hint will understand that while others are taking money for vaporware, asicminer already have a finished product that they aren't even bothered to sell yet.
Wouldn't be surprising... where else will they get 1P hash rate without factoring some contribution from Avalon chips? Who else would be faster at successfully developing clone asic machines from chips? They probably had a batch 1 reverse engineered ahead of time too.

It's only a hundred to two hundred headcount event. I think the main target was the press, so announcement to the relevant editors was probably made, which allowed the public to catch on later... chips are Avalon chips... not sure why the mining pool didn't demo mining with asicminer blades though, that would have made more sense. Perhaps the pool is geared towards Avalon miner performance?

From a game theory standpoint, one could say that what ASICMiner is saying is:
"Look, we have hegenomy in bitcoin. We will extract a tax of X% (currently around 25%) of the bitcoins generated. We have the technological power -currently- to defend that tax up to around a total network hash rate of 4 PetaHash. We have and continue to pay much of that out to our shareholders.
It is in our interest to keep mining competitive, beyond our established position. If current potential providers of technology fail to provide the products in a timely fashion, we will provide products at a cost that the market can accept, but which will provide users with a rate of return that will not be better than that available to our shareholders."
There is a line from an old Robin Williams movie, Club Paradise, spoken after he secretly sees the plans for his island by powerful interests seeking control:
"We've seen the future, Spunky, and we ain't in it."

Nothing available online yet. I believe the major forum platforms are being coordinated with the media for a better impact, so maybe some prep work still needs to be done. I'm fetching info from Weibo (read: twitter) and QQ groups (read: group chat) as well as over the phone by attendees (read: most unbiased source). I'll try to link up coverage when it becomes available.

Indeed. The pass-through operators are generally highly trusted, but anyone concerned about this should buy direct shares in the auction section, using escrow. Also a friendly reminder there is a massive target on the back of Asicminer for any government(s) that wish to take a bite out of bitcoin, especially in china where bitcoin is illegal
OFFICIAL RESPONSE FROM FRIEDCAT
2. Cryptocurrencies or mining of virtual currencies are OK. Exchanging them for fiat is less OK but the legal risk is mostly on the exchange operators' side. However as everyone knows, the policy in China is never predictable so there is indeed risks in the future. We have been considering and coping with this uncertainty from the day our chips passed the test and are on the start of building offshore company structures.
Edit: Bitcoin has also been given fairly positive coverage on Chinese state TV: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=194937.0http://www.forexminute.com/bitcoin/china-loves-bitcoins-7723

Bitcoin is not illegal in China. At worst, it is in a grey area of the law. is not if it is legal or illegal, they can come anytime, do you think they need a search warrant? unpredictable unless you know the communists officials very well, but over there is based on hierarchy. so it comes to know who you know. May be Friedcat can help promote the liquidity and usefulness of bitcoin in creating massive e-commerce websites in china or promote them widely so that they are popular in China as a medium of exchange.

V 2.0? It is not new products. acisminer has 3 new products, ie new blade(10GH/S, which can not be overcloked), mini blade(5GH/S) and usb miner. Pricing, availability, etc? About new products's availability: According to the record of friedcat, and unlike BFL, if new products are in hand, he will release the new products. Maybe it is ten days later or twenty days later. For any accurate information should based friedcat's announcement. I am just a bystander. What I have said is not your investment's base.

Plus we can't forget the person who ordered 200K avalon chips. We are going to see some serious hashrate by end of year.

I read sometimes ago that a chinese banking officer expressed interest of controlling part of the hashing power to build bitcoin reserve, and even build reserve hash power in case a 51% attack hit the network (I guess he is using the typical reserve = stability theory from central banks culture)

Some advertorials floating around on sina.com that make reference to the Beijing event. I think I'll await for the official press coverage before posting.

We welcome newcomers if you'd care to join us. https://btct.co/security/ASICMINER-PThttps://bitfunder.com/asset/G.ASICMINER-PTYou might want to hurry though before the next dividend, there's a rush expected, and that's not even taking into account interest from the conference or current bitcoin media coverage. You mght want to hurry because AM share holders would LOVE to dump some shares at 4 BTC+ per one to you. Youmight want to do it before next dividend as it will be 1/2346789123456 of dividends you'd need to me ROI after buying AM share. Hurry up, it's amazing opportunity. *Disclaimer - it could really be an amazing opportunity as you never know, there's always enough idiots around who might buy your share for 7-8 BTC per piece.

You've been playing this tune for a while. Back when ASICMiner had a share price of .84, you said it was worth 0.02 per share. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=159194.msg1844709#msg1844709

A blade and erupter USBs will never ROI. Customers are just handing over coins they could have bought but will never see again just to make ASICminer more dominant. The initial ASICminer customers banked a lot, now ASICminer is already too powerful an entity in Bitcoin. It's potentially their relinquishing of the 25% of the produced coins that is currently suppressing and lowering the BTC value. They have enough power to manipulate the currency's price and the only one benefitting is Fried Cat.

Most people are running their stock Avalon boards at 350 MHz, so 320 is quite disappointing.
