Here's one for you creative DIY guys.

I am in the need to lower the noise from the ASIC miners ( pinidea X11 600mhs) and instead of changing settings or hardware I plan to muffle somhow. I am considering building a case to lower some of the sound.

I was thinking something with this design (see image in link). Image speaks for itself.

Example:   https://www.gearslutz.com/board/attachments/bass-traps-acoustic-panels-foam-etc/197132d1286757143-soundproof-computer-cabinet-sp_box4_3dall.jpg

It'll need to be pretty long to house 5-7 miners. It will be stores in a pretty cold garage, so heat is not an issue unless airflow is choked.

What you guys say. Think it could work? What considerations need to be made? Any suggestions for improvements?

PS. When its done I'll post pictures of the finished product.

Should work fairly well, I would think you will need to add some additional air flow though.

I am about half way done building a similar enclosure, Ill take some pictures when I am done. The only main difference is that the miners are ported directly outside though a 4" insulated pipe, and the top of the box is closed with a 290 CFM exhaust venting directly outside to keep some air flowing. Its going to be 3'x2'x7' for 2.6 kw of miners.

I am building the walls out of 3/4" wood - 2" Rock Wool Insulation - 3/4" wood - 50 Mill Sound Dampening Material. I am using silicone to fasten everything together so that the sound doesn't travel through.

Sounds like a really well planned solution. Would love to see pictures or sketches of work-in-progress Smiley

You are right about the airflow. Additional fans for intake would be added.
