There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Alternatively, you could also go to https://coincodex.com/ and https://www.livecoinwatch.com/

There are a good few websites with these features. Try to research and see which ones fit your inquiries the most!

Most exchanges offer API solutions for market data. Here are some examples GDAX, Bittrex, etc, and most of them give a proper documentation. Or you want to look for CryptoCompare it has an API that aggregates data from many exchanges, and they also offer many query parameters.

I use coinmarketcap, pretty functional and fast.

As said above, most popular exchanges like Poloniex, Bittrex and Kraken offer their own API for market data. Make use of it as they are updated faster than third party standalone data providers like CoinMarketCap and Cryptowatch which derive data from all of the exchanges combined. With some experience, you will get an idea of the market and with the right sort of data, analysis becomes easier.
