 MORE COMING SOON!

Special Thanks to MaGNeT and Yuki who inspired me for this coin!

Mining starts now!

GO!

For solo gpu mining put this in your config file (%appdata%\Ferretcoin\ferretcoin.conf on Windows and ~/.ferretcoin/ferretcoin.conf on Linux, create the file if it doesn't exist yet):

Code:
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=set a strong password here
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=33032
port=33033
daemon=1
server=1

Then run your wallet again.

With cgminer for example invoke it as: cgminer.exe --scrypt -o http://127.0.0.1:33032 -u username -p yourpassword (add hardware specific parameters matching your cards to reach your max hashrate! You can find a comprehensive list of cards with good parameter choices in the config notes here: http://litecoin.info/Mining_Hardware_Comparison)

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

I think he means ferret legging as a sport. He's wrong though, seeing as the person gets significantly more abused than the animal, which just gets to run around in some guys pants and nip at his dick for a little while. I imagine the ferret finds it fun, they love running around in tubes and biting things.

I am done already also, nice job OP producing a dead coin at startup. I see you are still logged on.....

LOL it's definitely not dead because of that stupid mistake, the difficulty is still insanely low (<0.0006), the source and linux binary works correctly.. Compiling on windows takes a while :-/ but will upload the new binary immediately once it's finished!

Nice job with the excuse. Good thinking also since 5% of the populace uses linux.

Other coins launch without binaries at all...

You are beating a dead horse with this logic of yours.

Not really, but you are welcome to leave Smiley There is no premine, I said sorry, and that's about it. Uploading the new binary when it's done.

If anybody on windows would be willing to forward port 33033 in their router/firewall so we get more active nodes that would be cool! Such a mess to compile UPNP into the windows version (although that would only affect some routers anyway)..

considerable percentage of orphans is normal at extremely low difficulties though afaik, probably currently worsened by the shortage of active nodes until more miners join

Here is an idea. Why not post some addnodes in the original post?

because there are currently no more active nodes with open ports and the clients find them anyway

there will be more with time I guess, the coin is just barely two hours old

chrome says it appears to be malicious

I got that earlier too when I was still hosting on sendspace.com, they sometimes (apparently randomly) replaced my files with a download to their "download accelerator"  (which you could untick, but meh) and Chrome flagged that as suspicious. I changed the hosting to the much more solid looking box.com in the meantime

In general, always verify my MD5 checksums before running things! (on linux simply "md5sum <filename>" in the terminal, alternatively http://onlinemd5.com/ for a platform independent web version)

Please check all the files with virustotal.com or the like! No malware but there might be some false alarms as with other coins Undecided

Can we gpu mine this coin?

sure, basically the same way you gpu mine litecoin

it's not working HALP!

Put this in your config file (%appdata%\Ferretcoin\ferretcoin.conf on windows and ~/.ferretcoin/ferretcoin.conf on linux, create the file if it doesn't exist yet):

Code:
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=strong password here
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=33032
port=33033
daemon=1
server=1

Then run your wallet again.

For solo gpu mining with cgminer for example run it as: cgminer.exe --scrypt -o http://127.0.0.1:33032 -u username -p yourpassword (add hardware specific parameters matching your cards to reach your max hashrate! look here for a comprehensive list of cards with good parameter choices in the notes http://litecoin.info/Mining_Hardware_Comparison)

missing username and password from your .conf file in the command line ->

  cgminer --scrypt -o http://127.0.0.1:33032 -u yourUSERNAME -p yourPASSWORD

What frobley said.

Also don't forget to close and relaunch your wallet after you made changes to the .conf file. Your wallet has to be running while you are mining with cgminer because cgminer basically connects to your wallet (via the local loopback address 127.0.0.1) using the same protocol as if the wallet was a "pool".

hi,

i do have username and password just wasnt sure if i should show it, and ive closed and restarted the wallet then started cgminer but it comes up with the same response. this is exactly what i have.

cgminer --scrypt -o http://127.0.0.1:33032 -u chicken -p ***********  --worksize 256 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 -g 2 --intensity 12 -Q 0

rpcuser=chicken
rpcpassword=***********
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=33032
port=33033
daemon=1
server=1

do i have to add anything to the mining section in the wallet.

Don't show your password here, we were just making sure you didn't forget to actually specify it. You don't have to add anything to the mining section, your config looks good and should actually work now. But apparently on some systems if you define an allowed IP or IP range in the .conf file via rpcallowip= then it will not actually listen on an ipv4 socket but only on ipv6, and therefore not on 127.0.0.1, see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=165336.0

Try setting rpcallowip=* or even entirely omitting the rpcallowip= setting in the .conf file, but change your password before.

Also double check if you are using the correct .conf file name and location (%appdata%\Ferretcoin\ferretcoin.conf on Windows and ~/.ferretcoin/ferretcoin.conf on Linux).
