Can't decide between Trezor and Ledger Nano S

Hey guys,

I want to get a cold wallet for funds storage, but I'm having a tough time picking between the two...

I've taken keepkey out of my runner ups because of cost, and the fact that it's not as established as the other two.

I like ledger for it's size, price and form/function.

I like trezor because it is established, and I "believe" it has some cool functions like you can choose transaction speed/price and gives you an estimate etc. I don't think ledger has that. It's also easier to update firmwares and etc.... it's also 100 vs 60 bucks...

So I'm at a loss here. I haven't pulled the trigger, because simply... I can't decide which I want to go with lol...

If you are concerned about price and quality both, then I think ledger nano S will be the best choice here because you will get the features that you are demanding.

Yes, ledger nano S doesn't possess that feature because trezor had been up and running in the markets before it came (in my knowledge) and had since been serving better than any others. Trezor is the best choice if you can spend a few more bucks because it has much better features and compromising your security for a small amount isn't smart.

Both will be fine with mycelium, as well you will get an address from both if you wish to send funds directly to your cold storage hardware.

anddd I ended up going with keepkey LOL. I like the shapeshift thing and hope it will work well for me!

Looks like you already made the decision so my suggestion might be too late. I agree with the comments below, ledger and trezor are pretty much the same thing, for value probably go with ledger. It might be good to keep one as a backup to your keep key.

I ordered a Ledger Nano last Friday with a discount as it was the "black Friday" Trezor too had a discount during this day. But I prefer to have the Ledger Nano for a simple reason: Ledger Nano looks better than Trezor lol. I know it's a stupid reason but Trezor makes me think about some key cars, and I don't like too much the design. I know it's stupid since what matter is how much you have inside héhé.
I think the next one I will order is the Keepkey

I like the design of all of them. I liked that I could carry the nano around with me on my keychain... But would I really? So I started thinking about the trezor because I noticed fees were little less on the youtube vids when people compared them, and I liked that it would give you time estimates and price for trans fee.

Then I saw a video about keepkey and how shapeshift.io acquired them and that you can trade currency within the app for it. I liked that... It also had the other features I wanted (trans fees with time frames) and I prefer the way it looks. I realized I won't carry this thing around, so I decided to get it...

I figured I'll keep little of my money on coinbase or similar wallet (mycelium, jaxx or whatever) and rest of my funds on the keepkey. As of right now, there really is no point of keeping cryptocurrency on you anyways, not like you can make a purchase anywhere... I'll keep this in the safe.

I might buy the ledger in the near future if I have money to waste, and I want to compare.

This sounds like trezor devices are more secured. Thats not true. Both, the trezor and ledger nano, are on the same level security wise.
Trezor even had a bug in one of the last firmwares where an attacker with physical access to the device could have read out the seed, in some circumstances,
because it was dumped to the RAM unencrypted while resetting. You can't have 100% security. Both are fine.

Is this the case of the news editor guy where he paid someone to build him something to hack it? I remember them saying that if he had a passphrase, it was game over.

Honestly at the end of the day, nothing is 100% proof. You can have FIAT currency in your bank vault, and through some intricate ways, that can be stolen too. you bank account can be hacked, your wallet can be stolen...

can't make it world proof. You just do your best.
