Neither cgminer or bfgminer (which MultiMiner uses) are going to detect your CPU. They do not come with CPU mining compiled in. If you want to CPU mine you'll need to recompile them yourself.

Regarding the GPU unfortunately I do not have that specific one so I'm not sure if or how it is supported. Do you have the AMD drivers I linked to installed?

The only uninstall I mentioned would be the WinUSB drivers if you had installed them in the past with Zadig. You are correct there is nothing of cgminer to "uninstall".

Can you run bfgminer (from within the Miners\bfgminer folder) with the following arguments:

Code:
bfgminer -S opencl:auto -d?

And then paste the results in this thread?

I wish I could. It closes instantly, without any error messages.

Run it from the command line (cmd), not by double-clicking:

Yes I know how to utilize the cmd — didn't go well. Tried with a shortcut also (C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\MultiMiner\Miners\bfgminer\bfgminer.exe bfgminer -S opencl:auto -d? ), didn't work either.

You have a type-o in there, it's -S opencl:auto not -S open:clauto

Right - neither bfgminer nor cgminer have CPU mining compiled in. It's not going to recognize your CPU without that. The above output looks okay. Are you saying MultiMiner still doesn't show that GPU now that bfgminer does?

Yep. Blank window and that's it. Of course I've tried to scan for hardware multiple times, nothing.

Okay - one more step. Can you right-click in the CMD window and click Mark. Then click and drag to select all of that text. Then right-click anywhere on the highlighted area. This should copy all of that text. Then past it in a reply in here.

Thanks!

Amazing piece of software, and inspired me a little. Going to work on coding a throttle gauge like bitminter has for graphical purposes instead of just the text readout of the hashrate. I My PC is plugged into a 32 Inch flastscreen mounted on the wall so i can see it from a distance, and i loved the bitminter client because while on the other side of the room i could look over and see my hashing rates indicated on the large gauge. If any other coders out there would like to help on this "adding a hash rate gauge" project with me to further enhance the features of this software please let me know in private message. i hate digging through threads to find replys.

I downloaded the software, and everything is running beautifully for my BFL ASIC.  I'm having some trouble adapting my ATI 7870 to mine at Hashcows, however.

Ideally, I would like to set up the software to run my videocard at an intensity where the computer could still be used.  I have the scrypt arguments set up as found on https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison (-I 18 -w 128 -thread-concurrency 5600), but this causes massive visual lag.  When I turn on the dynamic throttling option on the software, it will start at 290 kh/s, then slowly wind down to 50, then restart both the GPU and the ASIC, repeating the cycle.

My ideal setup would be where the GPU's target temperature is 65-70, with an emergency override at 80 (instead of the defaults).  I would also prefer to not have the fan run at 100% intensity, so as to prolong the fan's life.  When the computer is used, I would like it to throttle, but when it's not I would like it to run at a relatively safe intensity.  Can anyone give any suggestions on how I should proceed?  Thanks!

Take the -I setting down to reduce lag but also reduce your hashrate, e.g. -I 13.

When I turn on the dynamic throttling option on the software, it will start at 290 kh/s, then slowly wind down to 50, then restart both the GPU and the ASIC, repeating the cycle.

Can you check the Process Log when this happens and tell me why MultiMiner restarted the process? My assumption is that the "Subpar hashrate" check is kicking in and restarting it, which would be something I need to fix.

Edit: Confirmed - this is a bug and I will fix it for the next update (due any day). Thank you for reporting it!

My ideal setup would be where the GPU's target temperature is 65-70, with an emergency override at 80 (instead of the defaults).  I would also prefer to not have the fan run at 100% intensity, so as to prolong the fan's life.

I would use either the AMD Control Center or MSI Afterburner to set the GPU fan speed. It's also possible to do with additional arguments passed to bfgminer (under Settings, Advanced miner settings).

When the computer is used, I would like it to throttle, but when it's not I would like it to run at a relatively safe intensity.  Can anyone give any suggestions on how I should proceed?  Thanks!

Ideally the Dynamic Intensity setting would do this if we can keep it from restarting on you. Also, check under Settings, Advanced miner settings as there's another option in there to toggle Dynamic Intensity based on computer use and idle time like you are asking.

Version 2.0.3 of MultiMiner is now available with the following changes:

  • Fixed Scrypt coins being recognized as SHA-256 when using the CoinWarz API
  • Do not stop mining when a pool is down and automatic mining is disabled (now MultiMiner will continue mining with a non-obtrusive notification regardless of auto-mining strategies)
  • Do not restart GPU miners for "subpar hashrate" when Dynamic Intensity is enabled
  • Fixed lock up on first run under OS X
  • Fixed crash under Linux
  • Fixed device count not showing in some cases
  • Fixed constant wait cursor under Linux
  • Updated app icon under OS X
  • Removed cgminer specific timings and delays
  • Additional handling for "No servers could be used"

Well that, indeed, was fast.  Thank you!  One thing that might make the software even better is showing the fan speed.  From what I remember, BFGminer includes fan speed in part of its display, which really helped me keep an eye on intensity arguments.

One other question: on what timescale is the dynamic intensity based off of?  When I turn it on, it seems to drop my 250 hashrate (intensity 13) to about 20, and just idles there.  I may not be waiting long enough, but it piqued my curiosity.  Thanks!

PS, -I 13 was a good suggestion. a 40 khs drop, but the computer is definitely still usable, and GPU seems to be averaging 75 degrees and ~70% fan (from noise guess).

Sure - it's part of the API response so I can definitely include it. I'll add it in the next update.

Great question and I have absolutely no idea. I pass in -I D to bfgminer and it does all the magical mining stuff  Grin

After a couple of reinstallations I've totally lost control of it and now I a) Don't have an OpenCL support (and it won't install properly); b) Can't update my drivers (can't detect hardware). So I think it's a good time to reinstall Windows for all, I'll get down to it this weekend. Hopefully then I won't have any troubles with your soft. Thank you for your support!

Version 2.0.4 of MultiMiner is now available with the following changes:

  • Fixed a crash if the user has multiple devices reporting the same serial number
  • Fixed Stratum port for proxy always using 3333 (ignoring setting)
  • Fixed error parsing CoinWarz API reported as a CoinChoose API error
  • Fixed strategy checks every 15 minutes when the user specifies 2 hours
  • Fixed coin information not refreshing after saving

This will serve as a bug-fix update before version 2.1.
