I had the same issue with one of my S9's and swapped out my network cable and the board reappeared and starting working normally again.

I had the same issue with one of my S9's and swapped out my network cable and the board reappeared and starting working normally again.

Yep, as mentioned, this happened to me and quite a few of us. Quality cables matter apparently.

I thought I would register an account here and post my findings since google has brough me to these forums many times in the past it was long overdue.

I had the same problems with my November batch having the hardware version not showing up and I've gone through the various suggestions provided.

I ended up flashing different versions of firmware but the one which is running right now is S9_V2.30 autotune.  I originally had S9_V2.54 when the miner shipped to me but I couldn't find that firmware anywhere on the bitmain site.

I took the hashboards out to see if they needed to be cleaned or dusted but they were good for the most part.  I dusted out what I could and put it back together.  Still no good.  I gave up and opened a ticket with bitmain thinking all was lost.

I then had an idea to try and start the miner with only the main board connected  (the hashboards had power to them but were not connected to the main board) ... sure enough I was able to get the hardware version to show up.

I connected the hashboards to the main board and left it.. sure enough it started hashing again all back to normal.

I have the exact  same problem sucks man Embarrassed and support hasnt gotten back with me just got my antminer s9 12/28. no bueno

But removing hashboards voids warranty right?

Same problem here. All my S9 miner suddenly cannot hash at all. I have tried all reset method, upgrade & downgrade the firmware.

Problem appears at the Control Board. The control board can boot and the green light starts blinking, hash board will show red light indicator, but then the green light indicator will eventually freeze. It seems something is blocking my miner to hash.

Attached is the Kernel Log, I'm plugging only 1 hashboard. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Guys!

I've received some of Antminer S9 few days ago. I had same problem as you with blank hardware and bmminer. The solution for me is resetting to factory and giving new configurations. Some of them worked with new configurations only.

Method 1:
go to web interface of the miner you have trouble with:
1. System>Upgrade>Perform Reset (or just press reset on hardware).
2. Give new pool configuration.

Method 2:
1. Just give new pool configurations (I mean another worker id).


The Bitmain Support team couldn't help me a lot. The only one solution given by support is upgrading firmware. They couldn't even send me firmware to upgrade as far as I can't open the link to download it.

I thought I would register an account here and post my findings since google has brough me to these forums many times in the past it was long overdue.

I had the same problems with my November batch having the hardware version not showing up and I've gone through the various suggestions provided.

I ended up flashing different versions of firmware but the one which is running right now is S9_V2.30 autotune.  I originally had S9_V2.54 when the miner shipped to me but I couldn't find that firmware anywhere on the bitmain site.

I took the hashboards out to see if they needed to be cleaned or dusted but they were good for the most part.  I dusted out what I could and put it back together.  Still no good.  I gave up and opened a ticket with bitmain thinking all was lost.

I then had an idea to try and start the miner with only the main board connected  (the hashboards had power to them but were not connected to the main board) ... sure enough I was able to get the hardware version to show up.

I connected the hashboards to the main board and left it.. sure enough it started hashing again all back to normal.

But removing hashboards voids warranty right?

not sure.. The bitmain site has instructions on how to do all of this stuff..  My second miner arrived yesterday with the same problem.  I am really thinking that this is due to the temperature and when I say that I mean too cold to start rather than too hot.

I did nothing with the new miner except let it run and warm  up.  It tested itself for well over 1.5 hours before it finally started hashing.. I plugged it in 10 minutes after UPS delivered it and it was still very cold when taken out of the package, so it was likely sitting for a while allowing the electronics on the board to get very cold.

Was the miner still running when you reconnected the hashboards to the main board? Or did you unplug it, reconnect and then restart?

I had same blank problem on my first December batch s9, tried almost everything list here ( plug unplug, resets, boot reboot, dowgrade firmware to april, differnets cables ) ,and finaly it worked after deleting antpool from the list in the miner ( replace by slushpool ) . I don't know if it was the real fix, but it's ok since that...on slush.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me that the version number will not appear if bmminer doesn't start properly and bmmimer won't start if you have bad ASICs. Looks like you have several bad ASICs(not dead, just misbehaving). ASIC #17 on your middle board is suspect #1. I don't know why so many of these 'new' miners are shipping with bad ASICs(mine had only 2 good hash boards). Hope you've already started the warranty return process, could take a while.

Could anyone assist with my problem please?

I've tried multiple times on all 3 of my S9's just delivered last week and there is no status in the status page.
I've tried resetting it to factory settings, but same problem.

The fan on these machines have leads for a tachometer . If there's a problem with the tach the machine will not  hash. You need a new fan. Something else I noticed if both fans aren't installed properly on the machine the high-speed one that's spinning won't also spin the other one and it will also error out . Basically the fan that is unpowered is expected to move because of the suction from the other.

The fan on these machines have leads for a tachometer . If there's a problem with the tach the machine will not  hash. You need a new fan. Something else I noticed if both fans aren't installed properly on the machine the high-speed one that's spinning won't also spin the other one and it will also error out . Basically the fan that is unpowered is expected to move because of the suction from the other.

Thanks for all your help. I managed to resolve the problem for now.

1. Swapped the Fan power connections From Fan 2 to Fan 6 and it started to work.
2. Fan 2 Terminal has slight burn ( yellow colour )
3. It could be a lose connection I am not sure, but its working now anyway. I need to replace the Fans and probably the connector on the control board.
