The price of bitcoin fell more than $1,000 in the span of about 10 minutes on the CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index (BPI) today, just hours after the cryptocurrency set an all-time high above $11,000.[1]

2017-11-26 price was 8,200$

2017-11-29 price was 11,000$

2017-11-30 price 9,800$

Is this crash or small/huge correction?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

it should be correction,
for me it's far from crash because right now Bitcoin got a lot of attention from people,
so it's impossible to see it crash and burst.
if we're looking at our movement lately we should understand that we're moving like crazy from $700 to this point,
which mean we're moving 10x from our average price which is around $700,
but i doubt it that we will see it around that much at least we will see it around $6000~$7000.
because if we're seeing it around that price, many people will suffer and i believe Bitcoin will be crash.
i believe they(whales) do not to see it and more likely they will try to tank it or stabilize it around $6000~$7000,
afterward altcoin party begin.

It seems to me that this is not a correction. The market cannot decide what it was. Such huge surges of bitcoin have not committed more than ever. Volatility in the range of $ 2000 in two days! You have to adapt. The higher bitcoin price the more will be the oscillations. I think that next year it will be common practice.

A crash is a drop of about 30% or more. That would take bitcoin to about $7700. The price is around $9700 right now - so it's a correction, and it's consolidating between $9000 and $10,000. Which is fine. It went up just too fast.

Seems to just be a correction. I though after going under 8500 and then going back over 10,000 yesterday we'd then see a drop down to 8000 but it didn't happen. I expect it'll be back over $11k next week and start hitting ATHs again.

I think that the correction is underway, with the whole market being red and total market cap decreasing. But as it seems the market cannot really decide in which direction it is heading. But my feeling is that the correction is happening now, and if this was not it already, it is waiting around the corner and will come soon. Just my feeling though.

I wouldn’t call it a crash yet but it could get there. I don’t know the exact definition of a crash, but if the price drops by 50% that would seem like we are getting to crash territory. Now it just seems like a correction or consolidation. But don’t quote me on that because I’m not an expert. Either way, I will ride it out as long as it takes because my investments are long term. I have no plans to sell for at least a few years.

Crash , a sudden rapid drop price. Correction , a slow drop price and usually takes several times hit the market.
That's the definition of crash and correction for me , i cannot judge the market yet for now.
Let's see in the next few days , but i believe this gonna be a crash. Be ready for it.

It is a correction. Also many people are panic selling because of FUD.Whales as usual are taking their profits.I personally think price is falling because of correction as bitcoin price rise too much in short period of time.Once the correction is over we will see a stable incease in bitcoin price Wink

Its just correction and not a crash as drop is not over 10% in last 24 hour, 10% might sound huge but in crypto it is just a normal drop. Bitcoin price will surge again and the one who will buy all these cheap bitcoins will be the one with happy faces in next few days.

I am buying at current prices and will not sell below $15k in future.  Wink

It seems to me that 9000 dollars is not the limit of fall. I don't buy at this price. I'm sure that the next leap of bitcoin will be up to $ 12,000, but before this should be the maximum retracement. The real price of bitcoin is now 9000-10000 dollars. So I'll wait for another price reduction.

No need to worry at all. This is correction you will find the crash little more in the chart like touching down to 9k USD to then automatically recover back to the peak by taking the time around 20 days.
This how bitcoin price chart is reacting from the August when the time we find the hard fork. Now I think that this is the same issue again this time. Please wait for sometime you will find the bitcoin price to touch the end of December.

I think the market is still undecided on whether this is a correctio or crash. If the selling order is able to cut through 7K level, then it will be a "crash", because likely it will find the next support level at 5K.

Clearly a crash. This is the crash that will finally convince people that bitcoin (and all cryptocurrencies) are failed experiments. We will drift downward from here in fits and starts until the last person walks away and we're at zero, or nearly zero. The world will move on to something else. This is all pretty clear in the data analysis of TA and other sources.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.

Probably a correction, chances of a crash are very low because a huge community is in the market now. I also admit that the price fluctuation has increased a lot during the past few days which is not normal as we have seen a huge decline of $1500 in 14 to 15 hours today, but hopefully it will need some more time to settle the price a bit at a certain level.

It was an obvious correction on my part. 11k to 9.8k is just around 10%. Way too low to say that it is a crash and is very justifiable that it is just a correction. Bitcoin falling that much after reaching a very high ATH is expected since many will definitely gather their profits and some will trigger a landslide so that they could buy more at a lower price.

Exactly. And it take over shortly. BTC has a lot of support around $7900 area. I think we could see a correction to that level for a day or two and then rocket back up. Maybe I'm proved wrong, lets see what happens.

It is just a normal backfire. I have been predicting that yesterday. At any very sharp rise is associated a little downtrend to compensate. But price is holding strongly now, and I doubt we will go down that much.

And therein lies the genius of trading Bitcoin. Just HODL till you get the price you want. I am not sure there are other commodities where such a strategy would work but it will work for Bitcoin.

Take note also that by looking at 24h view on today, yesterday and the day before, price increase was established for about closed to $1,000 in the span of not less than a hour alongside with price decrease, like a roller coaster. Meaning the resistance was great at above $9,000 so how much more below it. Clearly a correction and not a crash. Why I say it as a correction? Since the bottom price reached didn't say for long, it's clearly not a crash.

And now same price movement is happening, playing with the margin of $500 or more increase and decrease. The good thing here is, we can see lots of green lights at around $9,000 meaning we can treat this as a new bottom. You decide.

This certainly was just a correction and not a real crash. You need to keep in mind that bitcoin went from $5500 to $11,000 without a reasonably big correction so I think I would be more worried if bitcoin kept gaining momentum and thus going up.

For me that is just a plain correction. Remember when we are getting through at $8,000? It went back at $5,900 right? I dont think it is a crash, when we say crash in my own definition there is a big slash to its current original price, mostly half of if. But with these correction it is not more than of it.

It looks similar to that it happens with each and every price increase. Once after growing to certain price point, it automatically falls back and generates momentum to grow further and reach higher value than that of the price from which it trailed downwards.

A crash is a drop of about 30% or more. That would take bitcoin to about $7700. The price is around $9700 right now - so it's a correction, and it's consolidating between $9000 and $10,000. Which is fine. It went up just too fast.

I think that's a crash actually because its really too fast to drop of its price. Maybe a corrections can be associated to that but for this moment that price is actually struggling to rise even higher its our very best opportunity to hold bitcoins. Don't care if fluctuations is ongoing but the important is you know how to handle the current situations and you can manage it.

In my own opinion its likely a correction the price went to high within just 2 months. Probably it will go down in the next coming days people would be cashing out for profits especially since the holidays are coming in.

Source  [1] https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-price-falls-1000-minutes-erase-24-hour-gains/
This is only a decline between one group and not a small correction, some have sold their assets but only partially and this will continue go to beyond 11K$ see current prices since this decline will continue to increase you should buy again now.Because a correction will not take place quickly like this.

Honestly when i was awake yesterday i was so excited if what is the present price but i was shock to see that the price was hit $11k for few hours after hit 10k it continue to increase until 11k but after few hours i saw a large price down or  crash yesterday that i thought that the price can be increase back and hit $11k i lose the opportunity to make small amount of profit and exchange my bitcoin once the price was drop but i lose the opportunity.. and i saw the market that there is a group that can manipulate the price as i seen in the market i saw some other could buy almost 1k amount of btc or more or sell more than 1k amount of bitcoin in the market so i think there are people are holding a lots of bitcoin and use it for dumping when the price is increase too fast maybe for price correction..

More like of a correction cause day by day many more people are getting attracted in investing in bitcoins maybe the price was correct because the price of 10,000 USD was so sudden the rush for price indication was happening so fast which is why it is necessary for bitcoin price to be corrected in the cryptocurrency world.

Definitely a correction, earlier it touched $10K again, and now it's down on $9.7k , BTC have been rallying up too long and have been touching new highs, i think it is time for Bitcoin to rest on rallying and go back again. I'll speculate that it will continue/resume on rallying before December Second Week, the implementation and the launch of Bitcoin futures-- as the CEO said that they will list it on Second Week of December. We should not be panicking now, Bitcoin will recover within this week or next week, CME hype is not yet dying, more money will flow and more investors will buy Bitcoin because of it's low price today.

Agree, bitcoin price still above $9000 which is a high price since bitcoin has leapt from $8200 to $11,000 within 3 days.
It's small correction until the price drops back to $8200 again, and consider as a big correction if it falls less than $7500.
It's a crash if bitcoin fall 50%, below $5500. But, we won't see it happen I guess, who wants to sell bitcoin if they know the price will skyrocket in this month? Normally, it will work like that, and we will see what happens after bitcoin futures launched in this month.

Seems very obvious that this is a correction. The price is just floating around 9k-10k, and I don't think it will drop below 9k. Anyways, a correction was expected after such a huge rise and if the price doesn't drop below 9k then this will be a great correction IMO.

I am buying at current prices and will not sell below $15k in future.  Wink

And therein lies the genius of trading Bitcoin. Just HODL till you get the price you want. I am not sure there are other commodities where such a strategy would work but it will work for Bitcoin.

Sounds too simple to me, complacency is what makes me bearish overall.  I dont assume Bitcoin experiences real growth, in any case crypto overall could grow with BTC a smaller part of that.   If efficiency in use lies elsewhere thats what I expect to happen.

Right now for price, I see it as quite a mild pullback relatively.   ATH is 416% of the Sept China ICO ban, the next level to that being as low as 8169 but thats normal with such rapid price movement.   To retrack and confirm pricing is fairly positive.

I drew in a downtrend from ATH and I'm looking for it to confirm above that.   I see it outside a channel but sideways and uncertain for the moment.   This matches previous behaviour I've observed after pullbacks, I wont assume BTC finished selling but sideways relative to a previous regular lower high movement can be a good base for future gains Smiley

Yeah and price is moving slowly again so I don't think there is anything to worry and in next few days we may see again price going $10k and it won't go below $9k for sure so the best thing would be to hold our coins and see what price it achieves in next couple of days and depending on that you can take your decision whether to sell it or hold it longer.

As expected its a price correction after hitting the $11k value. Some short term investors who set a target price sell their coins when its on the peak value which also has impact of the price movement.

Wait for a few days or weeks and it will bounce back again with even higher value hopefully. Im seeing this moment as an opportunity to buy more bitcoin.

Corrections are generally temporary price declines interrupting an uptrend. Correction Vs. Crash.

A market crash is when the 10 per cent price drop occurs in just one day. Crashes can lead to a bear market. That's when the market falls another 10 per cent, for a total decline of 20 per cent or more.

Despite the inherently uncomfortable nature of watching an account balance drop by 10% or more, market corrections can be healthy for both the market and for investors.

For me maybe this is crash is normal. And also  it always happened which is when bitcoin Fall soon it will recover or It will surpasS again Like what  happened in the first week of November. Bitcoin suddenly fall then after 3 to 4 days bitcoin value surpass 10k.  Maybe this scenario is a correction which is Maybe it gaining some strength to surge again

i think this is still a small correction, market still waiting for another whale to make a position (always follow big market but think smart, some time they try to trick us to follow the opposite)
profit taking is always there in open market, forex, stock or crypto or another
always try to get new information and analyze the movement, because correction can turn the table into crash movement after some time when it failed to get higher, market will tired and take the opposite

This is correction small one off course, if this was crash price would went huge bottom and hitting maybe 2000 to call it a crash.
We saw this in last few month several times but now its a big deal cuz price for the first time reach 5 digits and when went down this is crash.

This will be in motion until Christmas then we will probably see huge correction in price.

There are many people who will definitely called it as a major crash because they are basing the same experience to that of stocks, forex and some other derivatives markets. Those who are into traditional investment vehicles would really be shocked at such an occurrence because in their platform the same thing may not be normal and can indeed be alarming.

In Bitcoin and in cryptocurrency in general, such a thing is just a correction or a dip and every dip is actually an opportunity to buy more Bitcoin at a cheaper rate expecting that soon it will rise again. This is exactly what happened right now as Bitcoin is back again at the $10,000 level. I am sure many made a good money with the latest correction...and this cycle will go on for eternity or as long as we have Bitcoin or as long as there is a high volatility present in the market.

Honestly, am getting tired of people who expressed concern about Bitcoins' volatility. We should accept that it is part and parcel with Bitcoin and instead of being alarmed and spreading FUDs we might as well take it as an opportunity to invest more and make some money in the process.

No such thing as correction. Are you stating they did something wrong to correct it?
This is money we are talking here and they cant just be wrong with every cent of it.

It is just a possible selling group have done it in panic.
Therefore it is really a crash. Well now, they can buy back and enjoy the profit they made.

for me it looks like a mini correction as some whales wanted to sell. I expected a way more correction/crash at $10k to maybe $6k but it seems it won't happen anymore.
Need to wait until monday I guess to be sure

I am amazed that people are so stupid and don't get simple trading basics.

Every pump is followed by a bigger dump because people are feared all the time.

It's just stupid - but good for me because I sell high and buy back the dip.  Grin

Source  [1] https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-price-falls-1000-minutes-erase-24-hour-gains/

This is a crystal clear correction. 11,000 to 9,800 is just around 10% decrease. Not a that big to be considered as a crash. I suppose if the decrease is at least 50% then we could consider that the decrease is a crash. Come to think of it, this type of happening (correction) is always happening when Bitcoin reaches an ATH. That's just how Bitcoin's price works.

I am amazed that people are so stupid and don't get simple trading basics.

Not every member of this forum is a trader.

This was just another set of Panic after a huge and fast rise of the value. Investor, specially newbies sold it in fear and traders for short period of time also sold their share to gain their targeted value. It was a kind of short crash, but its better to be termed as correction. As in basic terms in market this usually happens and its common.

I expected a way more correction/crash at $10k to maybe $6k but it seems it won't happen anymore.

It seems that the general public was assuming that there would follow a decent correction after hitting the $10,000 level, but it didn't. In previous market it would likely correct and go down in a matter of days, maybe weeks, but not in today's market. The demand is far too strong to let the market fall down too much -- every dip gets bought up quickly since they grant people a lower entry point. Now CME will for sure allow Bitcoin futures to be traded, and from there institutional capital that will flow into this market, the chances for a correction have been lowered significantly. On top of that, next year we'll have Nasdaq do the same, which again will get this market pumped up.

Actually this type of movement has been very common in the behavior of bitcoin, especially throughout this year, so I think that everyone who is involved in this cryptouniverse should already be used to it, so we should take advantage of these great corrections to increase our stock of bitcoins instead of panicking and start asking again if the bitcoin will collapse, as many people tend to do before any slight correction.

Most likely it was just an easy selling dropped.. Crash is nowhere to be found at this and will never happened at this year or even correction because I don’t know what this really mean.. If no one sold they’re hold bitcoin and there still a decrease that what I thought a correction might be made.. And now the price is nearing 11000$ again so the answer would be obvious.. It is just a normal demand and supply thing..

yes, yesterday is just a correction like what we see in the past and now the price is moving higher and I think it will reach higher soon. but yes, the price is dropped too deep and maybe it makes people get panic and selling their bitcoin but this is the opportunity for people which waiting the price is down so they can buy bitcoin with low price. now with the price increases, people can sell their bitcoin to make a nice profit.

I think it is just a correction and not a crash.
If this is a crash, bitcoin's value drops a huge down, than what had happen. Maybe it is just a correction or higher investors take their gains, and converted bitcoins into fiat. Besides after its value goes down it increases again and now it has reached already more than $10k again and again.

Just minor corrections that I see a few days ago. $10,000 is a mental barrier, traders will likely sell if this price is hit or even higher. But bitcoin has recovered, and even go further today and touching above $11,000. A crash is like at 30% down or more. And we can't seen bitcoin experienced major crashes and a lot of corrections along the way. But we are still here and touching $11,000. I think that there are a lot of uneducated members here that panics every time bitcoin goes for a dip, because they didn't know that this is just normal in our ecosystem. Sometimes correction happens because investors just like to take profit and sell some of their bitcoin but then immediately get it back when the price goes down. This is how the market works and we shouldn't look at correction in the bad way. Its the perfect opportunity to enter the market again when bitcoin is cheap.

Is this crash or small/huge correction?

There are standard definitions.

A correction is when the market or valuation of an asset falls 10% or more.

a crash is when the market or valuation of an asset falls 40% or more.

What we've experienced multiple times this year have been corrections, not crashes. The last Bitcoin crash I'm aware of was in 2014...but I'm not looking at all the data right now either.

When we do try to compare both things which is "Crash" and "Correction" we would able to find out the difference because when we do mention crash price have significantly drop on huge % which would have been cause either large group of the community did able to sold mostly all of their holdings which have cause on such price down. "Correction" price decrease but only on considerable % which is mostly on 10-20% down on its price.

From whag had happened it was a healthy correction, though there has been news that coinbase had a glitch, causing the drop in the price, still we do not see any upcoming crash any time soon, and probably there will be none, since by the looks of it, bitcoin has been accepted by a lot of people as an asset, in which it only makes the price of bitcoin higher, still bitcoin is not just an asset but a currency as well. The drop may also be due tonthe coming holdiays, wherein people had alrady gained profits, and wanted to cash out in time for the holdiays, and wenahould consider fhat to be a correction as well, and see a a new rally by january.

You have to expect these things to happen with bitcoin price. The price can't just continue to go up forever. It's just a part of the entire cycle with bitcoin's price, boom and bust if you know what i mean. But long term i can say for sure that BTC is going to continue to go up.

After that correction i really think that $10k isn't going to be breached for a long time.

A real "crash" probably won't happen until next year, i'd say.

There isn't much of a difference between crash or correction. Just two words for the same thing. But it's certainly temporary as shown by the climbing bitcoin price right now, in fact we're looking at $11k+ right now.

Honestly, these corrections have to be expected. As any bull market goes, there will be times where bitcoin is climbing and other times when the price is taking a hit from panic dumpers.

Just ensure that you don't fall for the bear trap when it comes, just like it came this time with the dump below $10k.

Crash , a sudden rapid drop price. Correction , a slow drop price and usually takes several times hit the market.
That's the definition of crash and correction for me , i cannot judge the market yet for now.
Let's see in the next few days , but i believe this gonna be a crash. Be ready for it.

Hey that's good. I might have to quote you in my crypto and blockchain dictionary, Decryptionary.com

As for me, it is just a correction. It is too minute to call it a crash because you even see it going mainstream within the bounds of $10,000. It did not go down further. Perhaps, it may just also be brought about by sudden increase of demand that the supply can hardly make good to it because there are too much investors who chose to hold their Bitcoins.

To my opinion there is no any crash on the way. Bitcoin price can't just rise forever, that is true,  but I expect only some smaller corrections maybe even by the end of the year. People actually don't know the true meanng of the word crash so they use it too often and in wrong context when it comes to bitcoin price and the only result of that is spreading panic. So, don't panic bitcoin will not crash but the price will be corrected.

Bitcoin prices will normally increase and decrease. this is a natural thing in the digital currency world, we've all seen tremendous events before. The price increase of hundreds of percent and the drastic price reduction became the hallmark of digital currency, especially Bitcoin.

Right term would be correction, if there will be a crash then bitcoin's price will be pulled down to the lowest as $1,000. But it didn't happened right? And these price drops are just considered as correction. Comparing huge correction to a crash isn't the same, I would prefer that huge corrections are just normal while crash aren't normal and it can threat the whole market and make weak handlers to sell.

It is a correction. Also many people are panic selling because of FUD.Whales as usual are taking their profits.I personally think price is falling because of correction as bitcoin price rise too much in short period of time.Once the correction is over we will see a stable incease in bitcoin price Wink
Whatever it is dude it already has given people so much because those who sold yesterdays are now happy a lot and those who are expecting more tomorrow they are now saying that it is a correction but the true thing Is that was right price and those who sold at that were the smart person nothing can happen now wait more to see the price gradually increases and don’t repeat this next time and learn this lesson,

Definitely it was not a crash. The price dropped from 11000$ to 9800$ because the people who were holding their bitcoin's from quite a long time sold there BTC's in order to get maximum out of this rise which caused the price to drop.Within a day or two it was again rised to 11000$ and it is still above this mark.I don't think there will be any crash because the demand is actually increasing .A correction can be there which will bring down the price to a reasonable value.

What happened is just a healthy correction which didn't kill bitcoin, what will happen is that it'll just make bitcoin stronger than ever. There are so many investors now in bitcoin which will not allow their investments down the drain. Even if the bitcoin's price go down, there are so many who are waiting to buy the fucking dip and go "ALL IN!".

That should be a correction and not a crash, cause bitcoin is getting higher than an immediate crash dew to the heavy numbers of bitcoin investors in the system. That correction has given bitcoin a new set and it is finding it's way ahead.

According to trading terms it cannot be termed as crash for sure. It was probably a correction. It took a dip slightly and its back on track. A correction which was necessary.

I also see the correction earlier, and I said to myself that this is what we are all we've been waiting for. So that we can buy in this kind of dips. However, as quickly as bitcoin retracted it soon was on track again. I have a feeling that a lot of people are really watching bitcoin coin that a slight disturbance on the price will immediately resulted on a buying point.

I guess it's really different now when we hit $10K, all eyes are watching, and with the positive sentiments still up in the air people are really interested getting into the market as soon as they can. So hold off all predictions on a crash. What we see is just a correction which was necessary but we are above $11,3xx once again folks. The demand is really high that I don't see a crash happening in the coming days.

It did recovered from a correction and what's good about it is bitcoin does have enough fuel now to make some quick movement. $11,000 is a good price and that will be a good floor price while the next support will be at $12,000 and it can possibly be seen on the end of this year.

And to all of those people that are keep on assuming that bitcoin has crashed, this year bitcoin has been great witnessing that it all started out at $800 and now $11,000. Yes that a crash!

The situation that happened on the market of crypto on November, 30 this year was neither a correction nor a crash. It was a trick or trap of Large investors who wanted to gain their profit buy pushing the others selling their coins. Additionally the exchanges were overloaded.

it should be correction,
for me it's far from crash because right now Bitcoin got a lot of attention from people,
so it's impossible to see it crash and burst.
if we're looking at our movement lately we should understand that we're moving like crazy from $700 to this point,
which mean we're moving 10x from our average price which is around $700,
but i doubt it that we will see it around that much at least we will see it around $6000~$7000.
because if we're seeing it around that price, many people will suffer and i believe Bitcoin will be crash.
i believe they(whales) do not to see it and more likely they will try to tank it or stabilize it around $6000~$7000,
afterward altcoin party begin.
Yes youre right i think someones behind this manipulation well its just my opinion. Although i think your negativity is not that big of a deal though cause it would be difficult to stabilize from $6000 only it is getting more popular lately you can even see it from youtube ads see the difference about the connectivity until now we have the internet we have the power to influence people or persuade them. So it cant be easy to do that.

The situation that happened on the market of crypto on November, 30 this year was neither a correction nor a crash. It was a trick or trap of Large investors who wanted to gain their profit buy pushing the others selling their coins. Additionally the exchanges were overloaded.

I couldnt agree more about that, the things that are happening in the market are being manipulated by larger bitcoin user. they always do this to gain large amount of profit over an suspecting small user of bitcoin who trade in the market.

The price of an asset cannot keep increasing and it cannot keep decreasing and assets need momentum to keep facing a particular directions. Corrections are always refer to as a clash in crypto currencies as most traders do not know trading terms. Currently, Bitcoin is above  $12,500 as at today which signified that what happened last week was just a correction.

in my opinion, it is correction although the price drops too far but it still correction the price. after the higher price is reached, the price will be down and we can see so far, the price is always up and then down for a while and then will increase again. so I think we don't have to worry if the price is down and that is our opportunity to buy more bitcoin at a lower price. it is better if we are still holding until another higher price so if we are selling our bitcoin, we can make a huge profit.

So we did reached new ATH after the correction that happened before we are getting through $11,000 did resulted to a nice pump. This is what will happen when we are experiencing some corrections and to be honest, there will be more to come to it. I still believe that there will be too many people that are scared about these corrections because they don't know that it is making bitcoin healthier and pushing investors to buy more.
